He really enjoyed the outside obstacle course and the foam pit inside.
We loved it! Our only regret is not signing up for longer - will definitely change that for next year!
Everyone is amazing. Ms Jess and Megan are awesome!!
Camp staff do an excellent job of making my son feel like a valued camper.
Because my son loves going to summer camp every day, I know he's happy—and that's what matters most to me!
Would prefer the groupings be based on grade vs pure age so kids could be with their classmates. Also that it only goes until 3 is a challenge for working parents because pick up is effectively at 2:30. Otherwise I think the program seems orderly and I think she had fun.
My child was told to wear a life vest in 3ft in the pool. He is 4.4 and he was tested and was able to use the "deep end" at the Melrose location. I'm not sure what the swim test in Saugus looks like, but I believe my child would have been able to pass at another location. I do understand the concerns for safety, but honestly, my child is able to swim and should be able to retry the test. He was told he can only test once a week so the opportunity for the whole week is gone
First time campers here and my girls seem to be having a great time. Seem to keep them fully engaged and the communication has been good so far.
My only critique would to warn first time parents of campers that literally everything they have will be dragged through the mud. So only send backpacks and lunch boxes etc that you don't mind getting absolutely filthy.
The staff and counselors are extremely helpful and understanding when it comes to little kids who are struggling at drop off and they are flexible and accommodating. They made my son feel safe and comfortable after some challenging times and they keep you in the loop about what’s going on at camp which is a blessing for parents! Camp director Jessica Neely has been nothing short of amazing with my son. Words cannot express how grateful I am to you. AND my son is having a blast at camp!
My daughter is thriving having fun learning new skills every week in a great encouraging clean environment.
Saugus ymca is so much fun! The leadership sets the tone for Ana amazing summer. My kid is outside and happy all day. Comes home dirty and tired. Gets to go swimming. Each week there is a fun theme. We’ve been going for years and it’s still fun. Jessica neeley creates such an awesome atmosphere, greeting everyone with a smile and great attitude in the morning, makes the camp so fun!
Love it. This is our second year and my daughter is always so happy to go there. Capm director Jessica is awesome and all counselors are great.
It was a fun summer camp for the kids! They enjoyed the variety of activities, the different themes each week, and being able to spend a lot of time outside.
The kids absolutely loved the activities and the staff. The Gymnastics and ninja camps seemed to be a good mix of physical activity and other camp fun.
This was my daughter's 3d yr there. 1st 2 yrs awesome, this yr from the first day in she was getting bullied by another camper. I emailed and no response. So I called. The director told me she would handle it and moved my daughter to another group. There was no follow up after that. The kids are all together at the end of the day and still instances occurred. I basically told my kid to defend herself if needed. The young adult counselors did not seem to be of help when she went to them. I did ask if my kid was any source of the drama to be informed and heard nothing. So I assume she was just doing what she has to. 80% of the days there were issues. Tere were 2 weeks we were away and then 3 weeks back at camp. The situation with the 1st children subsided but then she was being harras
Very engaging and prepared well for the children. It was so fun and my son had a wonderful time.
Children are grouped based on age group
There really wasn't any communication from the camp on a consistent basis. The newsletters were generic and didn't really give us a sense of what the kids did every day. We really didn't know if our kids were having fun, what they were doing, if they were making friends, etc. It was pretty much a black hole every day and we didn't know what they were up to. We were also surprised by the lack of structure or any specific skill building. I thought there would be more games, competitive tasks, etc for kids to do. It seemed like a lot of unstructured play.
The kids have a safe place to play and get away from electronics
The program is great and the kids love it
Counselors are amazing. I do wish there was more for the kids to do on the insanely hot days and have flexibility for pool time but understand it's not possible. Photos of kids would be nice as well occasionally to see what they are up to. Overall really happy as usual though!
The staff knows my son and he always comes home dirty, which tells me that he's having a great time. One day, he came back after being on holiday and had a hard time transitioning. The counselor spent time with him until he was ready to join the group. The only thing I wish they would change is how the children are grouped. He's in the 4/5 group, but his friends are in the 6 year old group. Hopefully, children can be grouped by their upcoming grade instead of age. He does state that he's able to play with them, so it's not that big of a deal for him.
The absolute racism that my son witnessed from other kids that went left unchecked left me a bad feeling. Not sure I will be sending my kid back.
I love that the kids are moving all day and come home having had so much fun, but also exhausted!
More variety with activities.
