Making new friends, good classes
Cleanliness and communication is lacking at the Blair YMCA.
More classes and clean the building well and consistently. The air vents in the workout studio are crusted with dust and dirt. In the corners of the bathroom stalls there is THICK gunk and dirt. Care for the grounds - mow, weed, etc. it’s harder to get new members when they tour and this is what they see. Please do not use my name.
Small location and too many kids hanging around inside gym
Most of the pool hours have 6 lanes open for lap swimmers leaving the people who want to use the deeper water for their exercises unavailable when it fills up. Then they have to go to the 4 ft which is too shallow. I think 4-5 lap lanes would be more fair to all. We all pay for membership not just the lap swimmers.
Weekend hours should be longer. You are competing with a 24 hour gym.
There are limited classes offered for people that do not work in Blair and would like to attend classes in Blair. The facility is dirty. How frequently is it cleaned? The lights in the aerobic room have had dead bugs in them for months, there seems to be dust balls and hair on the floor all the time. Does it get dusted, swept or mopped ever? The vents and light fixtures in the women's locker room are filthy and disgusting. The paint is peeling in the shower area. The floor in the locker room is gross.
Had good help initially getting registered. The wide range of amenities there are for all ages, size, and shapes! They also have convenient times for working people and retirees. An overall great place to go for a swim, get in some walking steps, weight room, gym time, etc. Join, you won't be sorry!
I live in a development that is mostly seniors and talking with them I have told them how much fun I have had going to the Y.
I enjoy pickleball, basketball and the weight room. And 24 hour access
Lifeguard attendance needs to improved. Frustrated when they do not show up at all or show up on time. Would like to see better pool hours like how it was in the past.
Clean the cardio equipment at least once a day, preferably twice. Its been lacking in cleanliness this past year!
The night cleaners do an excellent job cleaning. The new maintenance gentlemen gets right on thing. We are noticing a difference keep it up.
I like the silver sneakers membership for senior citizens & also the classes/aquacize classes
I love the person who teaches my class (Deb) and that it is not overly busy.
The gym is pretty good. The free weight section needs to replace the benches infront of the free weight racks and mirrors. The old ones are wobbly and in poor shape
I like the connection with the community at Blair YMCA
Although the staff is super friendly, before signing up I was told the kids would swim Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but they haven’t gone swimming at all. One of the young counselors said they aren’t planning to on the last day either!! There was no field trip. In my opinion, THIS final week of camp shouldn’t have cost me the same amount. I had to pay extra even because we do not have a membership.
My 7 yo son felt like it was daycare, not summer camp.
Please consider staggering classes during the day. You have too many classes starting at 9:00 a.m. that it creates a parking problem.
Most of the benches need replaced, they are not sturdy & I feel unsafe when I use heavy weights. Also, it is kind of cramped in the weight work-out area. How cramped you ask? Well today, I made myself uncomfortable along with two men using the machines by the window when my butt was sticking out towards them while doing bent over shoulder exercises on the cable machine. I think I had them trapped there till I was done with my set. Why do I think that you ask? Because I heard one man tell the other, "Lets leave, it's getting too crowded in here."
To help resolve this issue of tight quarters I suggest you move the 12x12 mat in the weight room to the aerobic room area. This would mean the aerobic area needs to be open all the time for people who just want to stretch and do PT in there. The 12x12 mat area set up in the weight room is too small & uncomfortable for 2 people to use at the same time if they don't know each other.
My husband says you need heavier dumbbells.
The pool and the sauna area , are always close early by eight p m. due to my work schedule , I cannot make it there during those hours. there are many young disruptive kids in the weight room. there should be a better job of policing kids that should not be in the weight room. kids' messing around and wrestling inside of the weight room. there has been an extreme lack of maintenance for broken equipment.
I would recommend the Y to anyone , couple or family because of how the offer so many opportunities for not only better health, but better living. I’ve attended at least 5 different Y’s and they all have excellent facilities, programs and staff. YMCA is at the top of my list. Michael Jones
I wish you offered Tumbling and I also thinks some revisions should be considered for the Kids Summer Camp
Truly appreciate Omaha management...huge improvement from previous 5 years with more capable lifeguards and the water has been warmer which i need for arthritis. Staff seems happier too. I do wish Blairvhad a stronger Senior Center program, M-F meals..but the exercise classes are good. My cost of me.bership for 65+ is wish was more affordable
I believe the Blair Y works hard to reach the multigenerational needs of the community. There are options that include a nursery to elder wellness programs, and numerous programs in between.
Additionally, each member has the option of setting up a program on their own that fits their fitness goals.
Whether it includes weights, cardio, swimming, pickleball, basketball, or a combination of several, as a member you have options. Good health through physical activity is its own reward.
