I signed my child up for a specific theme week to do with wild animals. On Monday they did the life cycle of a butterfly craft project. The rest of week there was nothing about animals. She was really disappointed. Would be nice if class description was more detailed on website at sign up. Also, had we known about trip to Gretna water park we would have signed her up for that week. My child loved that there is swimming throughout the week and she learned one karate move. This was her first time participating. Seemed more like childcare than a camp.
Well organized and easy to get information when you have a question.
I like the indoor t
Swimming: during lap swim hours, people who are not actively swimming (or walking) end-to-end should be asked to not be in the lap lanes so that swimmers can turn at the end of each lap
Machines are broken sometimes and the wipes need to be refilled more ofte.
The people are wonderful -- both the members and the workers. I always feel welcome. Also, my favorite classes are Cathy's cardio, Peg's chair yoga, and Deb's water aerobics.
I love this Y! It’s always clean, the staff is always friendly, people are very helpful and kind.
More field trips, change of scenery
People are very friendly and helpful. Trainers are very resourceful and helpful during training.
You have a friendly staff who always make you feel welcome and are always ready to any questions you have. The walking/running track track is great in all weather since it is indoors. The variety of workout machines meet the needs for a large range of participants both young and old.
I've always enjoyed the classe at the Y, wish there was more body pump type but I understand it's hard to get instructors. I've met and made a lot of friends
All of the camp counselors are responsible, professional, and great with the kids. My girls look forward to going to camp each day!
Getting the dryer fixed so towel service is back would be awesome and getting the floor cleaned of the dry suana beneath the boards and seats more regularly would be good! Awesome job regardless.
Very friendly staff and instructors! Good variety of classes
All staff and members are so welcoming. There is a great variety of options, something for anyone regardless of your fitness level!
Smaller Silver Sneakers groups, allowing assistance when observed by facilitator. There are 40 plus attendees and only two facilitators.
I love absolutely everything about Lakin! I drive 30 minutes here every day
I think the locker rooms could use some freshening up. The carpet is really starting to show its age, not sure carpet should have ever been used in that room to begin with. Also that locker room is always very musty and muggy some better ventalation would be good.
I've also noticed there are several weight room machines that get used heavily and there's no alternative or second option. And then it seems like there are other machines that are just taking up space and not being used at all. Like there are 3 rowers in the weight area, that doesn't really make sense and it seems like that space could be better utilized for something else.
I also don't think there's a good free area for doing things like sit-ups or body stretches. There are some small spaces here and there but it's pretty cramped.
Also can we please get a bicep preacher curl machine, that would be really nice.
Hopefully this feedback helps.
I love going!!
The staff are friendly and helpful and its always clean
I enjoy later hours for the gym and pool.
This place has the best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced in a gym. It’s not just a gym, and the workers aren’t just workers. They take the time to recognize you, learn about you, and always smile at you and ask how your day has been. They are always willing to go the extra mile.
Lots of broken equipment, broken sauna for months, not very clean.
Very friendly. Fair price.
staff at Stern pool are wonderful!
Rising membership cost each year.
Childcare staff should have additional trainings and procedures to provide care for neurodivergent children in an inclusive environment.
Everyone is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the welcome greeting each time I stop in.
Amanda. 0 stars.
If there's an issue, she'll just threaten "If you are unhappy with my leadership and the staff who do amazing work, please consider an alternate" as a cop out to taking responsibility and dealing with said issue.. Eliminate the person, eliminate the need to address the problem.
The facility is still filthy, and she just lies and lies and lies about handling it. I have photos.
This place is full of Directors who say they dont get paid enough to care... Why do all of you still work here if the pay is trash.. leave then because that's an insult to the dues your members pay.
But quite honestly, at this point I'll happily pay more to replace those with leadership who do care.
If you don't like dealing with people and or having criticisms about you and how you care for a community building maybe don't work for the community or in a community building.
The facility was perfectly fine before a certain few people took over..
Adam, John from Omaha, and Michael were all better leaders under Leo. Atleast the building was cleaned regularly by staff with them around. (Comparing leadership roles not the role itself, because I think they were Wellness Directors.. which would be Matt now ironically) Now, the wellness coaches under Matt just hang out at the front desk as an excuse not to clean.
The front desk staff in the evenings during the week or mornings on the weekend, fantastic group of people and a joy to see, however.
Amanda, do NOT contact me and do NOT stop me or my husband in the facility.
No one should be contacting me actually.
I have every right to express my good faith opinion truthfully and freely (without retaliation in an email) as a member of this facility in a survey sent to me asking for feedback.
Fix the problem and we're all good here. Action is worthy of respect and I can acknowledge that.
I don't need excuses in an email.
Friendly people , staff
We have been apart of youth Y sports for about 4+ years now. We have to pay the full rate each time even though we are members of the Y. Just because we don't have a 'family' plan - we have to pay the non-member rate as well as my husband coaches every single year/seaon receiving no discount. It doesn't make sense to pay for a family plan when our kids are in school full-time. We should be receiving the member rate for youth sports.
The pool needs cleaned. There are hairballs and other debris floating around all the time.
The morning class schedule is disappointing with Vivian's departure.
I really like the pool, sauna, steam room, track and workout equipment.
So seven out of 10 times I’m the only one in the steam room. I’m sure you have some reason that this light needs to be on now. But we were fine without it for 10 years and maybe just maybe go like with an 80 water or something because I do have sensitive eyes and it’s just really annoying when you can’t relax in there you have to close your eyes. That’s all I got.
the equipment is always available and clean, the spin classes are great
Yoga classes in the evening
The sauna, the space, and the steam room
Always clean always friendly staff
The only downside is the women's locker room. It's extremely small and cramped. The half-sized lockers along the top are almost unreachable. What a waste! How do you even reach the hooks? This was not well thought out. A metal shelf or basket would be appreciated in the shower stalls. Not everything is possible to go on the hook. I'm usually juggling my items to keep them off the floor. Please add multiple hooks on the walls opposite the shower stalls. The benches are needed for some to sit on.
Very friendly staff. The facility is very clean and well maintained.
The instructors are top notch. Wide variety of classes and times.
kindness and. courtesy to us oldies!
The weekday morning classes are very enjoyable, and the instructors take a genuine interest in attendees. Jackie and Kim are especially welcoming. I only wish the classes were offered 5 days a week.
The staff 👍.
With Vivian no longer teaching classes, I may not continue my membership. I attended 4 of her classes a week. I doubt you can fill those classes.
The staff at the desk gave Great service. Helping with registration and programs you have.
I love the Y but I wish the night crew wouldn’t kick us out of the sauna so early and I miss the gym being open till 10, a lot of people are still working out and trying to use the sauna at that time.
The Y has something for everyone and is open pretty much every day. With the price of everything today it’s a great value especially for family’s. A monthly
Membership is cheaper than taking you family to a fast food restaurant.
I enjoying coming to work out at the YMCA with Matt, the wellness director and personal trainer. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the exercises I need to achieve my goals. He works with me on form, and building new exercises into my program. His availability is flexible. I appreciate that from the “never the same thing twice” type of career I have. If you’re looking for a trainer who will give it to you straight, help you achieve your goals, and support you through it, look no further than your local YMCA and Matt!
It depends what a person is looking for. It has a variety of offerings but peak times are an issue with being able to use weight machines
Early morning class options in Council Bluffs and after work options are very limited especially with Vivian leaving. Very frustrating. Also, on the days I use the pool to walk, there is so much dirt, hair and debris in the non lap area that it makes me question the cleanliness of the pool.
