Upgrade the locker room/ bathroom. Even just aesthetic to feel cleaner and more inviting.
I have been a member for many years and enjoy the atmosphere and equipment. Stacey has been a great representative for the y.
Everyone is super friendly and helpful.
I joined the Maple location but mostly coming downtown due to better classes and pool hours for my schedule. I especially like the Sat morning classes with Dan and the fact that you have regular lap swim available with more lanes than Maple. However, I did try yoga twice - once Wed eve and once Sunday am - and both instructors were no shows. The Sunday instructor apparently didn’t work there anymore but no one told the 6-8 of us standing there waiting for class that he wasn’t coming. I wish you had an aqua fitness class!
I have been attending, when in Omaha, on and off since 1971. Loved the Old Squash Courts. Aqua Joints were most helpful after Knee and Hip Surgeries.
Your pool schedule sucks. you had the wrong lap times on the large poster just assuming people knew it was wrong and needed to get the paper copy for correct times. For something that used to be centered around swimming lessons for kids and swimming in general the pool should be available more. Why is it that only the women have to be inconvenienced by closing their locker room regularly? The staff is often uniformed on a variety of issues. And finally the hours lack any real flexibility.
I have membership with ymca because I like the joga classes but lately every class has been canceled l wish they had back
I love the place ! Brandon , Madison , Tracy ( she’s the boss ) are the best ! The YMCA helps a lot people , especially people like myself . Keep up the good work .GOD BLESS YOU. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
clean, stacy is great
The woman who works the front desk in the mornings, Stacy I believe, is very rude. She is the only reason why I am not buying a full pass.
Staff is super friendly and the gym as a whole is very clean. Also very accommodating to my wife who is in a wheelchair. Thank you
I like the atmosphere of the Downtown Y. I like the fact that most times I can easily get on the machine that is part of my workout routine. I've shortened my because shoulder problems but I still get a fairly good workout. One thing that irritates me to no end is the number of people who spend more time on a machine playing with their phone. I just don't understand why they want to waste a good workout reading and sending text's. The other thing is when some people hog two machines and they don't anyone to get on one of them. I have had words with a few people who do that. I think the staff at the Y are pretty cordial and easy to get along with, I have never had a problem with any of them. The reason I gave you a 9 is because nothing is perfect, I never give anyone a 10.
Have bathrooms on the second floor open for use when classes are going on. Air flow is not good, making it necessary for fans to blow during classes. I have dry eye and this makes me fairly miserable.
Pool is filthy, way overpriced for the adult fitness club, no more unlimited towels, no more whirlpool, sauna redesign makes up sit upright or risk burns (which I incurred on my last visit when I bumped my arm on the heat vent- no guarding to prevent this- can't believe this passes inspection), the place has simply become a dump. Makes me sad. I have been a member since 2008. And actually started going there as a kid back in the 1970s. Unbelievably, the staff, for the most part, remain friendly. With great regret, I had to cancel my membership. Kept hoping it would turn around....
If a new facility is built. Please have a men’s fitness area with steam and sauna.
Good selection of equipment. Clean facility. Nice pool
Polite and professional
Hi. I visited recently before work and needed to shower after class. There was a member with a well behaved large dog that was laying in the shower stall. No service animal identification. Very unacceptable but it must be allowed as it happened. Love the fitness classes and instructors are friendly and knowledgeable.
I love the men’s fitness center. Having a men’s only area with a dry sauna is absolutely wonderful. Having towels available is also one of the leading reasons to recommend the downtown Y. Without these amenities the Y would be just another gym.
Great people- top to bottom, Staff and Members! Always clean and welcoming place to get a workout in. Steam and Sauna are well kept and dependable.
People are friendly -- a home away from home
I've been a member for nearly 20 years. The men's locker room, and particularly the showers, have been in need of update and/or repair for that entire time. It only gets worse with time. While I am accustomed to it, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend looking for a workout venue. Additionally, I'm disappointed in having to provide my own shower towel. That service should be available for all members.
The kids stay busy! My daughter was sad each morning to leave me but she always came home with so many stories of all the fun she had during the day!
My YMCA experience is limited to exercising I haven't taken any classes. The workout area is clean. There is a good variety of workout equipment and it's well maintained.
I would be hesitant to recommend the men's fitness center given the decline in perks over the last few months.
Withdrawn perks which haven't affected my routine personally:
1. limitation of towel count
2. whirlpool removal
3. toilets reduced from 3 to 1
4. 3 of 8 showerheads inadequate
I am affected by the lack of climate control and the reduction of available lockers. It would be nice if the locker reduction had been accomplished with regard to the number of hooks in each locker; eliminating access to lockers with no hook followed by 1 hook, 2 hooks, 3 hooks and finally 4 hooks until the required number of lockers are made unavailable.
It causes me to wonder if further reductions in the men's fitness center experience are coming.
Very friendly, group excerise programs are tailored for your age group. And an opportunity to make new acquaintances
THIS YMCA IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN HEADQUARTERS AND YET IT LACKS SO MUCH, FIRST I DON'T THINK ITS FAIR THAT THERE IS A SEPARATE CHARGE FOR THE WOMENS LOCKER ROOM WITH THE STEAM AND SUANA, SECOND THE MAIN WOMENS LOCKER ROOM IS DISGUSTING, THE CARPET, THERE IS NO ADEQUATE PLACE FOR PRIVACY, JUST BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME SEX I STILL WOULD LIKE PRIVACY. THE SHOWERS ARE EVEN MORE DISGUSTING AGAIN NO PRIVACY, THE SHOWER HEADS ARE RUSTED BUGS IN THE SHOWER AREAS AS WELL. THE WORKOUT AREA IN BASEMENT IS NOT KEPT SANITIZED, I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY STAFF WIPING DOWN OR SANITIZING THE EQUIPMENT
I like the men’s fitness center having a steam and dry sauna that is not coed.
The setup of machines in each areas
good people/good classes reasonable pricing
Very helpful staff, and the facilities are excellent especially in light of the very reasonable cost…love the pool
The facility is old and worn
Great staff and great facilities!
I wish your pool would be open all day
One way to improve the rating....remove the fragrance sprayers. The entryway and desk area are both overwhelming as is the cardo-machine area.
But many kudos to Nathan the trainer, Stacey & John at the front desk, spin instructor Bill, and instructors Dan and Andrea.
Clean and friendly environment.. not crowded!!
Great pool, friendly staff, good communication about closures and quickly address problems
I wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation for John and Ms. Paige at the YMCA. John’s dedication as Aquatics Director is truly outstanding—he treats his staff with excellence and leads by example. I believe he would make a fantastic Director over the Y.
My granddaughter, who is 5, takes swimming lessons and absolutely loves Ms. Paige. I can honestly see her staying in Level 2 until she’s 20, just because she enjoys Ms. Paige’s classes so much!
Thank you for having such wonderful staff who make a real difference for families.
I have encouraged coworkers and friends to try out the Downtown Y
Right now, at the downtown YMCA there are several air fresheners which seem laden with chemicals and make it difficult to breathe while working out. I don’t know what it is that I’m ingesting when those air fresheners go off, but they don’t seem healthy!
I love all the people at the Y. Only suggestion is that there are more 5, 8, 10, 12 lbs hand weights.
I appreciate the variety in activities. I feel like my child is safe there. The counselors seem to keep a good eye on everyone and ensure everyone is being treated well.
Easy to join, clean faculties, and well maintained equipment.
Friendly staff clean pool
It is disappointing to come expecting the pool to be open, and find out it is not. I realize this is a challenge!
I love the staff! When I go to the lower level there are plenty of machines to help me keep my joints moving. I first joined at the Maple street YMCA in 1988 to swim laps and gradually migrated to the Downtown YMCA. COVID chased me home but my husband and I are now occasional visitors.
update pool area and showers.
I joined the YMCA back in 2006 and start going in 2007 seriously to classes and working out on the machines and have met lots of wonderful ppl along my journey then Covid hit and my lil community changed alot so I don't come as much as I need to but I'm gonna start coming back on the regular basis I really njoy what the YMCA has to offer to the community. If you can't afford the membership they do go by your income so don't allow you wanting to join change your mind look into it hope this helps.
Liz is well organized and I feel my daughter is in a safe place. She also enjoys going.
John and
The women’s locker room needs an extreme makeover. The lockers are small, barely fit a padlock on the lock nor a backpack inside, the floor is gross and the purple walls with yellow lockers is awful.
