I love all the people at the Y. Only suggestion is that there are more 5, 8, 10, 12 lbs hand weights.
I appreciate the variety in activities. I feel like my child is safe there. The counselors seem to keep a good eye on everyone and ensure everyone is being treated well.
Easy to join, clean faculties, and well maintained equipment.
Friendly staff clean pool
It is disappointing to come expecting the pool to be open, and find out it is not. I realize this is a challenge!
I love the staff! When I go to the lower level there are plenty of machines to help me keep my joints moving. I first joined at the Maple street YMCA in 1988 to swim laps and gradually migrated to the Downtown YMCA. COVID chased me home but my husband and I are now occasional visitors.
update pool area and showers.
I joined the YMCA back in 2006 and start going in 2007 seriously to classes and working out on the machines and have met lots of wonderful ppl along my journey then Covid hit and my lil community changed alot so I don't come as much as I need to but I'm gonna start coming back on the regular basis I really njoy what the YMCA has to offer to the community. If you can't afford the membership they do go by your income so don't allow you wanting to join change your mind look into it hope this helps.
Liz is well organized and I feel my daughter is in a safe place. She also enjoys going.
John and
The women’s locker room needs an extreme makeover. The lockers are small, barely fit a padlock on the lock nor a backpack inside, the floor is gross and the purple walls with yellow lockers is awful.
I would recommend the YMCA because they are Family Friendly And The atmosphere is Positive. The staff is always nice and ready to assist you in a timely manner. The gym is always being cleaned. Plus, the variety of different weight machines and cardio equipment. They have financial assistance for families. Oh, The swimming pool area is clean too.
I’m new to the y but it’s a very interesting building . The group fight class with Noah is great. He’s a very good instructor, very clear with his instruction and makes it fun!
Great staff. Great variety or activities. I wish the gym goers didn't park in the 10 minute parking in the morning during drop off. I have encountered the same man leaving after a workout (sweaty and with a gym bag) 5 times and he is parked in the 10 minute parking.
The place is great so far only thing I would like to see is some for of map showing what’s where.
Go back to the larger towels instead of wash cloths
We love the downtown Y! My daughter loves going to the Children's Museum and the playground nearby. The teachers are kind and seem to understand the importance of leadership through kindness.
Never crowded and very clean!
I don’t really have any complaints, except to say that the early closing time on Saturdays and Sundays are inconvenient given my schedule, but I also appreciate employees’ need for down time. Despite this, I much prefer the Downtown Y to much newer work out facilities throughout Omaha. Keep up the good work.
My personal trainer, Dan, is awesome!!! It's just a great place to workout!!! Thank you!
I've only been once; and I will be back to workout. I did get a good workout.
In order to recommend the Downtown Y to a friend or family member, I would want to see some effort toward security. Even having more of a presence of Y employees might put me at ease.
Staff and programming is great!
swimming pool is the biggest benefit
Very friendly people! Well kept up. A home away from home.
Lockers in the fitness area are all locked out. Members rarely rerack their weights. By the end of the day there are no wipes left in the gym area. I enjoy going and people working there are nice, but I would not recommend to everyone
Madison the manager is very disrespectful and rude and we will never go there again
How they try and keep the facility real clean.
The staff are always amazing. I do wish there was at least one YMCA in Omaha that had an outdoor pool. Lincoln has several, and they are amazing.
The Arc Trainers aren't working I let management know but nothing got fixed those Arc trainers they have need to be replaced with new ones just got back from DC went to the Anthony Bowen YMCA they had 6 new Arc trainers come on Omaha Y you can do better
Restrooms always dirty, smells bad, sometimes no soap for many days even when i report it, we have 2 or 3 pull up bars in the whole place,
Like the equipment
I mainly go for the pool and it´s just disgusting. Sorry to be so bold but there is yellow grime all over it, there are tiles missing causing sharp edges where I stab my feet often and I get rashes on my skin after swimming there
Staff, location
Kind of dark. Lots of unused rooms. Locker room good
Horrible
It feels very unpredictable. I don’t always feel welcome. Some staff are approachable but many are not (in my opinion)
The downtown YMCA is one of the best YMCAs in Omaha..
And around the USA cuz I've been to quite a few
Everyone is friendly and the fitness classes are good (though I wish there were more yoga options). The front desk staff seem to be out of the loop on a lot of information lol.
I like the staff and the equipment. A friendly and fun atmosphere.
The availability to every type of fitness equipment you could need or want is conveniently located here! The hours are perfect for my work schedule and very close to home. The YMCA is a cornerstone to my fitness journey.
More open family/kid time...especially in pool and gym. More kid friendly area. More child watch hours, especially in the morning and after school hours.
The downtown location is the best and with Brandon , Madison , Stacy running the show the place is in good hands . I truly love the Y and the diversity of people , which create a wonderful environment. Keep up the good work because we need you guys for quality of life and support . . Keep up the good work !
I wish some machines were replaced due to maintenance as the fixes seem to be temporary fixes.
Pool management works hard to resolve issues as they arise-John is helpful and friendly.
This location needs a facelift! Showers are old and drains are frequently clogged or running very slow. ?Staff is very friendly at this location.
Total body conditioning with Dan. Best class I’ve ever taken. He’s a pro and his classes are tough but doable. Outside workouts are so much fun and the community we are lucky to be a part of is really a gift.
In the women's workout room the wet sauna door is broke and has been for quite some time. It has been reported but not fixed yet. The door doesn't stay shut so the steam doesn't stay in.
More.childcare availability. Also make sure the front desk knows the hours because I was misinformed and came in only to find childcare closing at 1 instead of 130. So I went straight back home to workout...
As a male minority the down-town Y.M.C.A. has allowed me just over 20 years of personal comfort, this is to include having a peace of mind. The down-town location of the Y.M.C.A. isn't just another location, but is an established monument of peace and love.
Thank you for asking, a long time member

Upgrades have been done….people are very friendly and helpful…really appreciate Stacey’s helpfulness
