I liked the camp overall. The children were kept engaged with a variety of activities, and my child really enjoyed his first camp experience. However, on numerous occasions, my child told me that Ms. Leevee spoke harshly to the children and frequently had an attitude toward them, which ultimately required me to address my concerns with the camp director. I would absolutely love for my child to attend camp again, but I would ensure that he is not placed in Ms. Leevee’s group in the future.

This summer was my daughter first year at the YMCA and we absolutely loved it! From the weekly trips, to the swimming. My daughter always came home with a fun story!

The staff did an amazing with my toddler son. He had lots of fun and amazing experiences while there his full summer.

It was a pleasure seeing my children experiencing a summer camp filled with memories! The connection they made and adjusting to building friendships, meeting new people showed the profound meaning of the experience. The counselors made their impact as well! The activities were well organized and parents were notified of changes in reasonable time. The kids were engaged in activities across multiple areas. Staff was pleasant and easy to talk to. My kids enjoyed every single moment of it.

Communication was not the greatest throughout the summer. My children were giving me updates regarding things that staff should have communicated, such as swimming being canceled or bringing blankets for meditation. Lunch menu was never provided to parents. I learned from my kids that they were eating the same thing from lunch pretty much everyday.

The activities are engaging, educational, and fun, creating a safe and welcoming environment for kids to learn and make friends. We love the East Orange YMCA a great experience with the summer camp everybody’s friendly. I feel good about dropping my child off and I know he is nonstop moving around keeping busy, which is exactly what I want for him!

My son express to me every day I pick him up from camp how much of a good time he has each and everyday. I like that they take them on trips and provides breakfast and lunch for the campers. Its his first year and we’ll definitely be back next summer.

Organization is not the best. I also wish parents would get more recaps/photos of the activities they are doing. Was looking for more structured activities, like learning how to play sports, etc. When I ask my kids what they did they tell me they played with blocks or colored.

Me and my family has been with the YMCA for 10 years. They have been nothing but an amazing service for all my children. They love going and the whole team has been great. New and old. I appreciate all that everyone do from the cleaning crew, counselors, to management.

From day one, it's been clear that this team is highly alert, aware, and truly dedicated to every single child and parent. They remember names, faces, and details—making the experience feel personal and safe. What really stands out is how quickly they take action. Whether it's answering a question, solving an issue, or offering reassurance, the response is always fast and effective. Even if someone doesn't have the answer on the spot, they know exactly where to find it and follow through without hesitation. I've had situations where my child needed support before I could arrive, and the team always stepped in immediately. They calmly say, "Don't worry," and follow it up with exactly what they're doing to help. That kind of care and communication means everything to a parent. They also keep us updated about the day, and it's so comforting to know what's going on. You can see the teamwork in action—everything runs smoothly, and everyone is either smiling or laser-focused, but always pleasant and professional. I think the camp is cool. HOWEVER, I feel the payment schedule needs to be revamped because NOT EVERYONE gets paid every week it needs to be an option for weekly payments and bi-weekly payments. Just a suggestion. Thank you.

Total camp experience.

My son is making friends, enjoying the summer safely, and swimming twice a week. This keeps the kids busy with fun activities and community during the summer, all in a productive and enjoyable environment.

My daughter experienced another kid (most likely Quadria sp?) stealing an item she purchased during Tuesday's skating trip. After telling camp counselors, Ms. Layla and Mr. Nasir, that someone stole her penguin, my daughter stated they did nothing to investigate but instead continued to sit on their @$$3$$!!! In fact, the way my daughter described it, Mr. Nasir later asked once back at Lincoln in a low tone if anyone stole Waverly's item (as if the culprit would raise their hand in admission of guilt). Why would I recommend your camp if 1. kids find it so easy to steal and 2. the counselor do absolutely nothing to assist but instead they minimized the importance of not taking things that do not belong to you". Unfortunately, I will not send my kids to your camp next year and opt for a less toxic environment for my kids.

My kids love the camp.. the activities and the staff!

My son, Zion K., was physically assaulted multiple times by the same camper while attending your program. He was choked, slammed to the ground, scratched in the face, and punched repeatedly—resulting in visible injuries and emotional distress. Despite this, the child responsible was only suspended for 3 days, and staff failed to notice the attack in real time. I had to hear about it from another camper. To make matters worse, there were no first aid supplies available when I asked for help treating my son's wounds. I had to leave and purchase medical supplies myself. My son was even given a used ice pack from the freezer. These failures in safety, supervision, and basic care are completely unacceptable.

So far my son's summer camp experience has been great. He has had some difficulty with his behavior in the beginning, but the team is great at helping him with his needs. They try to make him feel comfortable and have been great at communicating his needs with me.

My child attends the orange location and she loves the environment much better. There's more and better activities. The staff are well mannered than their previous location. And the organization and communication is much better.

The kids are having an amazing time. The camp counselors let them feel welcome and at home all the time. They love the different activites,themes, trips playground time. They even love the garden sessions.
