The class instructor did not show up one time and no one informed us. The sub for the class went over the time allotted, just because she was new. That delayed our next class. There is no punctuality of time and no respect for others time.
The weights in the pool are worn and outdated
The weight room needs to be reorganized and redesigned. It is often cluttered, and many of the older weights have worn or missing markings, making them easy to misplace and difficult to find. In addition, the current layout makes it challenging to move through the space safely without running into other users or equipment such as benches. The facility is also lacking certain equipment, including a decline chest press bench, which would enhance workout options and better meet members’ training needs.
Have been a meber for more than 10 years.I worked at the Y for 4 yrs Offers a wide varity of programs. My kids and their kids attended Oakcrest
Great facility. Everything you need for good health.
Great instructors and very friendly staff
bollywood related classes
I have already recommended my friend and he has joined, but I did not get the benefit, but it is more than that to introduce someone who can utilize all the facilities available.
Love the people I meet, the special programs & activities!
Need to build a hot tub as adults request this amenity. Also need to balance gym assignments better. Handball had way more time allotted to them. Giving paddleball guys MUCH less time is not equitable. H as bing paddleball assignment on a 7am start without alternating other groups to start at 7am sometimes leaves a bad taste in paid members mouths.
Safer exit options
Friendly staff, great service!
They have so much to offer Seniors ~ it is very diversified. It is a great way to get out of the house and socialize !
very nice staff
Very well managed ,neat and clean , Polite staff, well equipped gym. Really love this place
I participate in YMCA group exercise classes
Good location, friendly support staff and service.
There is a wonderful swimming pool and outstanding fitness center.
The facility is rarely clean, no enforcement of discipline - some keep bags, jackets next to the treadmill, rest rooms are not clean.
The paddleball court walls are damaged on the seams. When can we expect to have this repaired?
No one in the weight room removes the weights off the bars - It is not proper gym etiquette,.And no trainer cares or teaches the people do to do so, and that goes for the phone conversations in weight room and on treadmill's.Teach the people no phone calls = some are 15 minutes or longer. Some jump around classes some music is too loud
I no longer go to Edison YMCA because of this things and parking is limited and speeding in the parking lot. So I can not recomend this YMCA.
Replace Exercise Machines
Update the free weights in the large exercise class room, they’re peeling, not enough heavier weights like 15lb or 20bs for
Women. Also have more wipes stations at either side in that room.
The equipment and the people which work there. Also the steam room!
Staff is very co-oprative .
The front desk guy is very rude. He should be addressing the customer friendly
Clean facilities
Friendly, no pressure atmosphere
It is great place for so many work out and lots of activities. All the staffs are very friendly. Very nice clean facilities and lots of options for working out.
Good staff and facilities
A warm and welcoming facility in a diverse community
I am surprised at the multiple requests for this feedback over the last week! I did send a list of the following 9 things a few days ago.
1. Long spells of cold water in the showers in men's and women's at Edison JCC. This can be fixed by a hot water return loop in the plumbing.
2. Install more pegs in each shower stall and make the curtains operate easily and properly
3. Very miserly shower heads! Such economical measures are out of place when public hygiene is at stake.
4. Sauna room door has a spring that makes the door close with a violently loud bang when let go by inconsiderate patrons.
5. Patrons performing Bikram Yoga, aggressive breathing and other such obnoxious actions in the Sauna room
6. Closure of pool and other facilities for observing a large number of Jewish holidays which are not even public holidays. I doubt if the world will come to an end if non-Jewish employees would keep the facilities open on those days.
7. Closure of the entire pool for the paying patrons for Swim Team activities. At least 50% or more of the lanes should be kept open. I have not checked the size of the team and the justification, but may do so if I was seriously interested in the pool.
8. Replace the small lockers with full length lockers in the men's locker room. There is only 1 row of full length lockers among the dozen or so rows. This causes crowding in the 1 aisle.
9. Last but the most important - The entirely inappropriate (considering the member demographics (race/age, etc.) music in the aerobics room. I bet that at any time of the day more people will be found using their own earpods/headphones which solidly proves my case. In addition, I have provided scientific evidence that music of one's own choice is more beneficial in fitness activities than music forced down the ear canals and of someone else's choice. The YMCA can at the least make alternate hours quiet periods and keep their end up. At best, scrap the music (delivered by a paid service) and save the money. That is my in kind donation to the YMCA.
The Y is an excellent and amazing place for the handicap members, because with all the equipment and professional staff , that are willing and ready to help us at any time.
I'm so happy that I became member of the Y
Miss Christine and all her staff members are the best
Overall I love this Y. The staff are generally pleasant and nice particularly Christine at the front desk and Megha in the weights room and Srividya in the Zumba class. But the weight rooms gets too crowded particularly on the days when SGIT classes are conducted at the weight room itself. Such days you can’t even do walking lunges. Sometimes there are no place to move around. Always there is a danger of bumping in to other person who is doing weights. Hope somehow the weight room is extended and machines are spread out.

9. When funds are available, make the ceiling of the steam room domed (like in Metuchen) or slanted so that condensation does not fall on the patrons. Poor facility design!

Hollis is an amazing Zumba toning instructor and brings light to everyone’s day when she teaches.
It is the best gym. place for all your activities
Excellent environment for playing.
The management is stuck in old ways and is absolutely unwilling to listen to reason, scientific evidence or economic benefit to change their ways.
The floors in the multipurpose room (2) where fitness group classes are held is so dirty always . Especially when we are there for the 6.00 am classes . At a fitness center cleanliness should be the first & most important thing. In The parking lot the lines to park cars are hardly visible especially in the winter when it's so dark in the morning . We have complained about both these issues several times but nothing has been done about either issues .
Friendly and helpful
Some of the screens on the bikes in the gym don't work. Treadmill #3 automatically shuts off during long runs, and reboots in a middle of a session. Both of these issues have been unfixed for a few months. Also, during the Sunday Bolly X class, there's a woman who leads 2 dances in the middle of class. She doesn't seem to be an instructor, and she's not nearly as good as the instructor. Not sure why she leads those dances; also, the class has both males and females and the dances she leads are moves the guys don't appreciate.
The smell in the women's locker room has been awful for the past week or 2. Not sure if it's a new cleaner or room spray but it is absolutely awful and it gives me an instant headache. Wish there would be more different weight balls not just 15 lbs
Number of programs offered
Good mix of activities all year round , very lively environment and friendly YMCA/JCC staff .
We love it
The facility is always very crowded, and there is hardly any space available for individual exercise. Most of the time, the group exercise area is occupied by Zumba sessions, and there are very few different types of group classes offered. Earlier, there used to be a good variety of group exercise options, which made the experience much better. In addition, the pool is almost always occupied with scheduled classes, so it is difficult for regular members to use it. It's quite disappointing to see that a large portion of the campus now seems dedicated to JCC activities, which has reduced the availability of facilities for other members.
I love to go to ymca. It is like home.
Senior and family friendly Very good gym and swimming pool Very good exercise classes for seniors
