The counselors were excellent. My son experienced a bout of homesickness and it was handled so well.
This is our second year sending our daughter to Blue Mountain Day Camp. Carolyn, Matt and all the counselors are great, communicative and are guaranteed to give your kids a summer of lasting memories. We can wait to be back next year!
Several things need improvement. The shower time allowed was far too short, especially for children who have long, thick hair.
I was much more concerned about the horses. The stalls were overflowing with feces, and some horses had visibly protruding ribs, which was very disturbing to see.
Lastly, some of the younger counselors seemed to be on power trips, with an attitude of “you do it because I said so,” rather than respectfully supervising and guiding the children.
My 11 year old had a wonderful time at his first overnight camp! He went for two weeks and wants to go for more. He had a great time!
Wonderful camp and my son wanted to continue to stay longer weeks!!
The camp is run so well. The activities are so well thought out and my daughter loves the camp.
Thank you for giving Maddox such a wonderful first experience at sleepaway camp! He had an amazing week at Fairview. Camp helped him become more independent, make new friends, and create memories he’ll always remember. The staff were incredibly personable, welcoming, and supportive. We couldn’t have asked for a better first sleepaway camp experience!
This is a wonderful program that prepares teenagers to be a camp counselor. Our kiddo had an incredible time in the CIT program and cannot wait to return next summer as a counselor.
Fairview Lake is my daughter’s happy place and has been for 6+ years! She’s made what I know will be lifelong friendships there
Old fashioned fun. Appreciate the diverse backgrounds of the children at camp.
My son said every day was fantastic with a variety of activities and good food. He also loved the counselors and facilities.
The camp staff and program was excellent. I felt very comfortable leaving my daughter in the hands of the staff and she was entertained throughout her one week attendance. As an older day camper for only one week it was a little hard to make friends with the other girls her age as they were mostly in the sleep-away group and there wasn’t much overlap in schedules. She still managed to find a friend and she bonded with many of the counselors.
My daughter has been loving her Laurel Ridge experience for 4 years. When I picked her up the first year, she said I have to come back next year mommy. Now 15 and aged out, she said during pick up, I want to be a CIT next year (counselor in training). The friends and memories she makes seem to stay with her forever. In addition to the pure joy that I see from her I personally appreciate the 3 week technology detox she gets from being there. The team at Fairview have a good thing going.
On our end, as parents, everything ran very smoothly. Our son came home everyday happy and excited for the next day.
Our daughter went to Fairview as a first time camper this summer and had so much fun she asked to stay for 2nd session. She had so much fun, met new people, was phone free, and outside for 6 weeks. We would highly recommend going to Fairview and have already signed up for next summer.
Our son absolutely loved his time at Lake in the Woods! He had such an amazing experience and came home with so many great memories.
Both Chris and Ellie are incredible counselors, and we truly appreciate all the time, care, and effort they put into making camp such a wonderful experience for him. It means so much to know he was in such great hands.
We are already looking forward to coming back next year!

This was our first experience with any sleepaway camp. My 13 yo daughter had an amazing experience. All the staff we dealt with were amazing! She came home begging to go back next year!
This is our second year at Blue Mountain Day Camp. Overall it’s such a positive experience on my children.
Great leadership program and fantastic facilities! My son made great friends and really appreciated the caring staff members. He had the best summer ever!
That we were busy the whole day and there were fun and different activities and that the counselors were involved.
Happiness, joy, friendship and growth
The administration and staff is top notch. Chris is the backbone to a wonderful program at lake in the woods The counselors made it fun for my camper
My son enjoyed his first time at the camp. He liked that he was able to fish every day, enjoyed playing basketball and the large slide into the lake. He liked his counselor. He said he is interested in going next year.
Our daughter enjoyed all aspects of the camp especially being in the drama group and performing the play.
Absolutely amazing camp. My son came home happy and ready to go for his next day. He looks forward to camp all summer. We are so glad we found Lake in the Woods Camp!!
We love camp!! Carolyn is AMAZING!! This is the last year for my child after 8 years and she’s had the time of her life!!

Great day camp, my kids had a lovely time. I would like it if they age groups were more separated as my kids were exposed to things that weren't age-appropriate. However, I know there is a smaller population attending the day camp, so I understand that is difficult.
I feel comfortable knowing that my child is in the care of such warm, safe, responsible individuals! But more importantly, my child has the best time each year and has formed some really amazing friendships from camp!
My son had a great, safe experience attending BMDC. He likes his counselors and the fun activities they do every day. He looks forward to camp every day.
We love FVL so much! It is our daughter's favorite place in the world and we thank you for all that you do!
My daughter loved her first expe
From the directors to the campers! My son lives every moment!! Thank you!
Staff, atmosphere, activities. All are amazing
We love Fairview Lakes!
This is our 3rd summer, and my son loves it so much! We have recommended friends every summer we’ve attended! Very excited for next summer!
My kids learn so many things with you- sending them to camp makes me feel like a better parent. Thanks for good times this summer!
Fairview Lake Camp has been up on my son and our family. He has gone for many years and developed very close friendships. He looks forward to it every year, and every August he comes home and says “that was the best year ever.”
Our 7yr old son loved camp this year! He learned new sports (that he now asks to play at school), loved his counselors, & always came home with a smile. We really are grateful for the care they took of our son and the valuable learning tools he was able to walk away experiencing.
Kids loved it! Great memories made. I would give it a test except that it’s so expensive.
My son came home, extremely happy with the activities and friends that he
My daughter had a great experience with her friends and the younger campers, learning responsibilities to prepare her to be a counselor
Good activities. Nice location. My son raved about the food! Good friends made too.
The entire process of enrolling my child, to prepping them for camp, and drop off/pick up is typically seamless. This was my child’s 3rd year at Fairview Lake and they didn’t stop talking about it ALL year. Camp counselors, other campers, adults on site are so kind & caring.
My daughter had a wonderful camp experience and looks forward to returning next year.
The activities are classic, the counselors are loving and in touch with the kids’ feelings, the overall camp is so wholesome and positive
only wish they had ac in the cabin during the heatwave
This year, we had several challenges dealing with minor medical issues while Colette was at camp. The first was a challenge getting a new prescription to Colette. I don't understand why the camp does not have someone who can run out to the closest pharmacy to pick up medication as needed. Instead, it was left entirely to us to figure out. our options were to find a pharmacy that could deliver to the camp, fill the prescription near our home and drive it to camp or fill the prescription and pay to overnight Fedex it to camp. I really do not think this should be an issue left to the parents to figure out. There should be a protocol in place at camp with someone local who can go out once a day to pick up prescriptions as needed for any campers in need. We live an hour and a half away and to be asked to "just run it up here" was not a viable option.
Additionally, we got a call from the nurse when there was a possibility Colette developed strep throat. The nurse seemed to want her to get a Strep test, but again, there was no option where the camp was handling this by bringing her to a local clinic for a test. We are working parents, and i cant just drop everything, get home from the city and then drive an hour and a half to pick her up in the middle of the week so i can take her to a clinic near the camp, return her to camp and then drive myself home. We have friends who send their kids to many different camps and they were all shocked by this experience that we had and the fact that FVL has no plan in place to deal with these minor medical issues.
On a totally separate issue, i wish you would update your smugmug system of sharing pictures every day. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to scroll through hundreds of pictures each day hoping to find one of your child. There are AI tools that can be used and you can have just the pictures that include my daughter show for me. Again, many other camps have had this capability for years.
Lastly, with the Trading Post, we should be able to set an alert to email me when her balance gets below a certain level so i know to replenish it, rather than me trying to rememebr to check it every week.
thank you for the opportunity to share this feedback. My daughter really enjoys the camp each year and that means alot!
