This is a wonderful program that prepares teenagers to be a camp counselor. Our kiddo had an incredible time in the CIT program and cannot wait to return next summer as a counselor.
Fairview Lake is my daughter’s happy place and has been for 6+ years! She’s made what I know will be lifelong friendships there
Great leadership program and fantastic facilities! My son made great friends and really appreciated the caring staff members. He had the best summer ever!
My daughter had a great experience with her friends and the younger campers, learning responsibilities to prepare her to be a counselor
I like that a lot of thought went into the program. It was structured and had goals.
In the beginning of camp some of the CITs brought drugs to the camp, and even though our daughter was not one of them, she was punished right along with them losing privileges for several weeks. The CIT bathrooms are absolutely atrocious! Either the maintenance staff needs to help maintain them or the CITs need better supervision in cleaning them. On the 2 occasions I was at camp during the 6 weeks the CIT bathrooms were filthy, covered in dead bugs and smelled foul. Even though this is a learning experience for the CITs we are still paying $1000 a week, and they deserve sanitary conditions.
CIT prepared me for being a counselor by giving me the chance to work with campers during activity periods and spend time with a cabin and see what it's like being in a leadership position. It's also a nice chance to see some friends one last time as campers and get one more year as a camper while still having that CIT training.
amazing community. the staff are very caring & invested.
I'm so glad my son completed this program. It's a personal growth opportunity and loads of fun. My only comments are 1) the cabin was pretty run-down and 2) CIT duties were very light, especially in the first 2 weeks. After being assigned to a camper cabin, it seemed to pick up and have more structure.
My son had a life changing summer. He's so sad to not be there anymore and has said he'd like to go every summer he can. It was an overall incredible experience for him.
