The people are nice ".it is clean for the most part!
I’d like to see more fitness options with new instructors for low impact dance/aerobics, Pilates, and true circuit training.
The Hayes Taylor Y has a great atmosphere for families and older adults. It doesn’t have the gym feeling but you can still get a good workout there.
Nice environment and always clean.
We never got a call about the team, practice or anything.
My daughter loves using the facility while she is interning at JSNN. It is a short walk and she enjoys the setup especially in the workout area. I love the indoor walking track.
The variety of group exercise classes & the great positive energy of the instructors.
I like the variety of classes offered as well as the information provided to the community.
From start to finish, the staff was INCREDIBLY nice and helpful! They welcomed us as visitors, the changing rooms are large and CLEAN! The lifeguard was attentive and helped with fitting for life vest, just couldn’t ask for a better experience! Love this Y!
Not enough of the same equipment
A clean and safe facility that allows children to learn from professionaly trained instructors.
I enjoyed the water aerobics class. Although it wasn't as challenging as I had hoped, the instructors were very nice and they did a great job trying to keep the class fun. I won't attend again but I heard another participant say this was the best class she'd ever taken.
Great place for entire family
I love this class because of the instructor and the activities that I interact in. This class has helped me with my balance and my ability to move without struggle.
The Hayes Taylor location is always clean and odor-free, unlike a franchise gym. The staff were professional and friendly the entire time, and did not pressure me to work out or tour the facility when I joined. The young man who registered me stated that the faculty will always be available to assist me with using the facility when I am ready to begin working out. Excellent customer service!
Not knowing what days or time the children will play before registering isn't okay. Families work, children have other things to do and times can clash so knowing schedules ahead of time is necessary. You shouldn't be required to take a chance in order to enroll a child in a sport and hope that you can be avaliable especially without a chance of refund. I avoided the ymca greensboro sports for two years because of this and chose winston salem ymca for sports. I finally had a flexible schedule this summer and gave it a shot. Its not fair to the children when multiple parents cant make a time and there team is left with a few players. My childs team has 4-6 players on the team compared to the other teams also the coach situation is ridiculous. I paid for my child to have some coaching experience in basketball instead there are random parents having to volunteer to coach on many teams or no coach at all. The positive is the kids are having fun but the other things matter just as much! Have schedules posted ahead of time so parents arent hesitant and know they can show. Or ask parents if a certain time works for them if not refund their money and split the teams accordingly. Hire coaches based on if they can come in for the time you have decided. And hire coaches for general purposes not based by team that way if a coach is needed on another team that coach can fill in when another isn't there. I seen a team with two coaches playing against a team with no coach instead of asking parents to volunteer why wasnt one of those coaches going over to help the other team. Ive also noticed that even the snack operation is unorganized. Parents were asked to sign a snack sheet but there is no announcement or anything made for children to get snacks at the end of the practices you have to sort of run down the snack contributers so your child can get a snack. This is YMCA sports its supposed to be family oriented and kid friendly I've found that not to be so. I would not recommend greensboro ymca to anyone untill this place showed some organization.
Great location to work out and stay healthy. Lifeguard Thomas (on his watch) makes should the pool rules are obeyed, and the area is clean, free of safety hazards. The new or youngers lifeguards are leaning their craft of what makes a responsible Guard .
The instructor Katrina was very patient, personable and professional. I would absolutely take another class with her again! Kay B.
Great facilities. Instructors are professional, courteous, and friendly
I love Jessica‘s class. The fellowship in our class is very good. The class is challenging, exceptional. And fun
Friendly staff. Good leaders for classes.
Clean facilities, very polite staff and swim instructor very thorough and attentive
Clean and well maintained.
Friendly staff, clean and amazing facilities, safety is always a top priority.
So far they haven’t done advertised activities nor is there reading time but maybe that will change.
Communication this year hasn’t been the best. Trying to get answers or responses to emails or class dojo is mediocre. Years before have been way better than what I have experienced from May to Now.
Very organized! Staff are helpful and want to ensure the kids enjoy summer camp activities
Fun family friendly
The cleanliness of the facility. The wide. Variety of exercise equipment and exercise activities for older adults.
Active fitness that is low impact on your joints. I find it highly effective and easy to keep up.
so our wonderful pool at Spears has been shut down and we have come to visit your Y to swim
Kenny at the front desk is helpful
willing to help
gave us the code to the pool locker room
on the other hand
the tall thin life guard with very long dreds for 3 occassions has not been friendly
He barked at us to go back and take showers,
which we had that morning, but only call me and my sister out as numerous people filed in that night
the next time we visited
the same life guard yelled at the top of his lungs that the pool was closing 30 minutes before the Y closed,
then he yelled , beyond earshod, at 15 min, i mean almost obnoxiously screaming
then he yelled , almonst screaming that the pool was closed,
Now mind you
we have been to the YMCA downtown, the Ragdale
the Spears and have never been so rudely treated,
we had a very pleasant conversation with the Manager of the pool the night we felt they closed too early
the Spears closes the pool 15 min early
but why does the Taylor Hayes close 30 min early
we had just come from Charlotte.
needed exercise after a long drive
raced over to the pool at the end of the day
only to find out that your pool closed extermely early
i wrapped up and was in my car in 8 min,
i didnt need 30 min to get out
please work on the pool time
but the afore mentioned life guard today
at 915 yelled at me again rudely to not place my bag on the bench by the sauna
and told me where to put it on the bleachers , where sat 3 people
Rudeness
he then greeted another visitor
and sweetly explained to her not to place her back pack on the bench
and explained why, because someone might want to sit there,
so , riddle me this, was it because i was the only white visitor that i got yelled at with my sister the first time by the same life guard and he was nice to the person of his ethnicity
must he scream at closing time
must it be 30 min instead of 15 minutes before the Y closes
I do not like Hayes pool anymore
I will not come back
that Life guard who likes the rules
and is so rude to us has changed out mind
Kenny is lovely
the female manager of the pool was understanding and listened about the time closing pool early
but that life guard i described
was rude three separate occasions
never have we been so treated that way
at the end of my swim on a very hot day
i enjoyed the fan by the pool
and swam in the corner by the poo
and would you believe it
that same Rude life guard moved the fan 3 inches so it no longer
blew in my direction
almost intentionally taking it from my direction
I can't make this up
he is beyond Rude and i felt the intentional
rudeness when he moved the fan I was enjoying
Never again at your facility will i ever come back
He needs to be let go
I really enjoyed this facility. It’s probably my favorite in all of Greensboro.
Hayes-Taylor is a beautiful footprint of friendship and Christian values
I have seen how the Hayes Taylor YMCA has changed peoples attitude about several things.
1) Exercising with other groups of people different from themselves and being happy about it.
2) Participating in different programs, in this Y, because of different people of different backgrounds are doing so.
3)The joy and excitement on even the kids faces, in the early morning, when they come in and while they are at this Y.
4) The conversations that seniors are having with each other about everything under the sun.
5) How the front desk staff greets you as you come in, with a smile, a hello or good mornings Ms.or Mr. ????
6) The for-realness of the staff, teachers, maintence crew and members.
It was a good time and my son really enjoyed himself although it was for a short time!
The different amenities and the friendly staff.”
I like that it feels like Family
The patrons and staff are always inviting and make us feel welcomed.
You don't have enough court for the young people to play basketball too much pickleball days and times going on.. It's not fair to young people they was there first...They don't have a lot of options or cars to drive around and do different things.
It offers good programs, and Very friendly staff.
The gym overall is great. The classes are fun, its clean, and the staff is friendly. The only recommendation I have is to update the app. The app doesn't show correct classes on the correct days. For example, on the app it may show a Friday class but when I get to the gym, there was no class.
Very friendly staff and the environment is just good for my wellness. I also love the sauna.
I really like the instructor Justin. His class is very energetic. He communicates with the class and very patient
Staff members are rude and very disrespectful
I like the Hayes-Taylor Y because of the comraderie between the staff and Y members, and among the Y members.
My concern is the maintenance of exercise equipment, dirty windows and the challenge with check-in because the scanner is inconsistent. Also, the parking lot needs to have the spaces redrawn.
They have perfect programs for children
my son enjoyed soccer for the most part. i think the scheduling website is not very user-friendly. i was frustrated that we had 1-2 players on our team who played every minute of every game, while several children barely played five minutes. all of the children want a chance to learn and improve, which they can’t do on the bench. for our team, the coach was not very effective at redirecting behavior during practice, so several times different parents had to step in.
I view my experiences at Hayes-Taylor as going to therapy. It’s the physical mental and social experience that matters most. And Hayes Taylor provides it all.
I would highly recommend my YMCA. The staff and members are friendly, welcoming, and supportive, which makes it an enjoyable place to be.
The pleasant staff and available equipment. Opportunities to participate and give back to community service activities.
