I love so many things about Pure Barre! It is such a good workout while being low impact. I have struggled to find something that I want to do consistently and this has definitely been that! Everyone is so nice and welcoming, the class times are really easy to fit into my schedule, and I appreciate the variety, but also the ability to modify as needed. I really can't say enough good things about Pure Barre!!
The positive energy of the whole Pure Barre community. Always encouraging each other.
I sometimes feel like a couple of the class times are just a little too big. If I walk in 5 min before class I struggle to find a bar spot and that feels really intimidating. I wonder if you should consider capping the enrollment for each class at a little lower number?
Pure Barre is simply the best! After moving to Iowa from out of state & leaving a career of nearly 20 years, it was challenging to find my place and my people. I live in Ames and was searching for a gym to trial and stumbled across Pure Barre. I was hooked from the first class! The community is so welcoming and encouraging, the instructors and owner couldn't possibly be any sweeter, the classes are challenging and I feel better than I have in years. Thanks Pure Barre Ankeny for kicking my butt weekly! ILYSM!
Pure Barre is family! When you need a hug you can get oneâ¦or 15.
I love the variety of classes and the instructors are amazing. They are helpful and encouraging. Katie genuinely cares about all the members and goes above and beyond to spoil us.
I like the class format, the instructors, the new friendships I have made, the retail, the results from the classes and the confidence and joy I feel after every single class. Plus, the owner is incredible!!!!
Love pure barre! Amazing workouts! Incredible community! Always my favorite part of my day :). Highly recommend!!
I love my pure barre classes!!! It makes me feel strong, confident, it's something just for me! Women of all ages and everyone supports each other!!! Always challenging!!! ð
Pure Barre Ankeny is my happy place, my home away from home! The relationships this place has brought me over the years are amazing! Forever grateful! In my forties I feel better than I did 10 years agoâ¦my balance, flexibility and strength have improved so much! This place is top notch, some of the BEST people ever and amazing workouts for everyone!
Not only have I gained strength and flexibility through the various class offerings, but I also enjoy the community that PB Ankeny has given me.
The instructors are all very friendly. I appreciate that they correct posture and form to prevent injury and get the most out of the workout. There is no drama in this mostly-female space, which says a lot about Katie as an owner and leader! :) It's been great to meet and chat with new people as well!

It's inclusive for women, and welcoming and the instructors really know their stuff!
The friendly atmosphere to exercise with friends
I love the variety of classes and how they change regularly, a full body workout, challenging with a dedicated team, inspiring music, and motivation from participants. The instructors are knowledgeable, like private coaches helping to ensure attendees are doing correctly. The entire staff are welcoming and caring. All ages, skill set, body types come together in an amazing community. Friends are made each time I come to class.
I love Pure Barre. The Cedar Rapids location seems to be struggling with several things. The studio has a lack of teachers, classes are now routinely cancelled or formats switched. Class times have also been reduced and there are overall fewer classes to sign up for. The studio as a whole seems to be less invested in the pure barre brand. The studio now rarely hosts pop ups, celebrates any special days or even posts on social media to celebrate members. Many things that had become 'tradition' have been taken away and replaced with nothing. Some examples of this are lack of any mothers day classes, no easter egg hunt, no boo bags, no staff holiday party, no community art drive. Inventory in the studio boutique has been very stale. The overall cleanliness of the studio has not been maintained as it had been previously. An example is the carpet has not been cleaned in at least a year. Supplies in the studio are not replaced, such as toilet paper, quality air freshener ( it is now fabreeze which many members have expresses concern about due to its chemical make up), feminine hygiene products and tissues. The studio also lacks a lead teacher and general manager. The staff appears stressed and with out leadership. This is felt from both teachers and desk staff. Members are encouraged to email the owner with concerns, however when that happens she does not respond or is unable to receive the suggestion/criticisms with an open mind that most things are coming from a place of care and concern. All of these issues lead to an overall feeling in the studio that there is a general lack of enthusiasm and many members wonder each month if the studio is closing. I love the workout but the other things happening at the studio make it difficult to convince myself that the costly membership is worth it when there are so many other options. Many members feel the same and we wish that the studio would return to its past energetic, fun, welcoming, happy third place.
Class times are convenient for my schedule. Instructors are fun but professional and really care about students.
What do I like about Pure Barre? I LOVE everything about Pure Barre!!!!!! The instructors are fabulous!!! Classic, Define, Reform, Align, Empower all are challenging and well done. Love the studio vibes, the clothes, the people at the front desk are soooo nice!!!!
It allows me to exercise and have a good time with great friends!
Pure Barre Ankeny is wonderful and I would highly recommend it. Katie as well as the rest of the instructors are so welcoming and encouraging. Everyone is so positive and I actually look forward to going to class.
morning classes 5 days a week meaning 5:30, 5:45 or 6:00 am. weekend classes that start atleast at 7:30 if not 7:00 especially in the summer Having classes complete at 50 mins and not continually go over. New retail including socks - this will sell but have had the same retail for too long. Not wait until the last minute to start hiring for teachers and then it's too late so we lose class times.
* The community of women supporting each other * The variety of workouts and available modifications
I enjoy the variety of classes and the low impact. Can get a workout without over exerting myself.
Why did you close the Coralville location!?! So bummed!!
It''s closing
The sense of community! I don't feel judged during the classes - I feel comfortable to come as I am. It's also a great low impact class that helps me stay consistent. I really enjoy the different types of classes offered too - Empower is my favorite!
I like the isometric moves, the instructors, and the various times
Small classes, and attentive and knowledgable instructors.
It's difficult but no impact. Everyone is very friendly.
Pure Barre is more than just an amazing workout. It is a community of warriors who choose to show up to better themselves. We know the importance of taking an hour to push ourselves to do something hard. To do something that celebrates all the things our amazing bodies can do. Pure Barre allows me the opportunity to become a stronger version of myself while becoming apart of an amazing community of people.
This community is one of the best things in my life! The energy this place gives me during and after a workout is absolutely amazing, it's contagious! I feel so dang good after each class!
Right now it's harder to get to a class and I'm noteeeing my favorite class on the schedule much. I understand this is because of the limited staff, but I sure miss my define classesâ¦.
The different class styles with focus on strengthening core and increasing flexibility.
I love that it is a program that works the whole body using low impact exercises. I am stronger, my balance has improved, and I have more flexibility.
My instructors are always friendly and willing to help with anything. I never detect bad attitudes or drama, which is pretty amazing for a mostly-female studio. Katie must be one fabulous, fearless leader! :)
I really enjoy the early morning times, however, when I first started Pure Barre summer 2025, I feel like there were more evening classes (6:30) offered at that time. I would like to see more than just Mondays and Wednesdays for the 6:30 classes as these are both typically align classes too. I also miss the 30 minute express classes being offered more often. I think that some instructors could benefit in looking at different playlists to mix it up, sometimes their music gets boring.
Pure Barre is an excellent variety of exercise classes designed to tone, lengthen, & build lean muscle. Align classes focus on balance. PB is safe & fun for all ages! Katie, the owner, is all about building community. Her staff is well-trained, & all instructors are fabulous. The studio is clean & inviting. I highly recommend Pure Barre, and have been a member for 8 years. Susie Roberts
The atmosphere - everyone is friendly & welcoming. no judgement about body shape or size. No pressure to dress to the nines for workouts - the focus is on wellness, not how you look. Love the workouts can accommodate health issues (foot limitations for me). Great variety to work the muscles without boredom in weight resistance and balance work. You have some fantastic instructors - great tips & comments to keep us focused on what we need to do & encouraging us. Love that they give us individual tips on form & help with stretching. 1st & 3rd paragraphs go together as key for me. Other places might offer good workouts, but your people make pure barre coralville great!
I love Pure Barre classes. They offer something for every age and ability level. The ladies ( and gentleman) are supportive and make going fun. The instructors are knowledgeable and kind.
Great instructors. Challenging exercises but not overwhelming.
Convenient location, variety of classes, experienced teachers.
Love the work out. Love the professionalism of the instructors. I have gone to Pure Barre for over 10 years and still look forward to each class.
The workouts are challenging and fun! The instructors pour their hearts, their expertise and their love into each workout! The community is top notch as everyone supports each other and cheers each other on! Katie is an incredible business owner, and her light and joyful smile is the best! Truly a wonderful place to workout and become the best version of yourself!
I love that the workouts are always different, so you don't get bored. And the instructors are so good about making sure your form is correct and pushing you to work outside of your comfort zone.
More variety of classes on single days. Too many back to back of the same formats
A variety Offered multiple times daily Well trained instructors
The community of women to work out with is very motivating! We are welcomed as soon as we enter the studio. There classes formats include strength training, resistance, weights, cardio, stretching/yoga. Class times consider work and weekend schedules. Instructors are well trained/prepared, competent at leading classes, provide alternative options when needed, and are almost like private trainers. Equipment is provided and the facility is exceptionally clean and cared for. A variety of music accompanies each workout, which elevates energy in the room. When class is over, I reflect on how much I appreciate working out with others of all ages and body types. Also how much I accomplished and look forward to the next class!
Pure Barre Cedar Rapids seems like it is less and less interested in giving the âpure barre experience' to its clients. They do not onboard new teachers with any urgency and do not seem to take a proactive approach to ensuring teachers are available and plentiful. Our classes have been increasingly cancelled and changed due to a teacher shortage. The teachers that are currently employed by the studio seems stressed to have to fill so may vacancies. There are simply not enough teachers. Additionally the studio does not seem committed to their members and providing them with the âboutique fitness' brand that pure barre claims to be. We have fewer and fewer special events, the prizes that have been provided feel like a cheapest option and there generally appears to be a lack of communication and care given to desk staff and the clients. The studio is without a lead teacher and general manager and it definitely is being felt by the clients. Pure barre is an excellent workout but the general lack of attention to continue growth and attention to detail is definitely being felt.
The sense of community and amazing instructors!
