The studio feels like it is teetering on the precipice of failure. There are not enough teachers and not enough classes. Classes start late and are often chaotic. Many classes are practically empty and there's no evidence that the studio is doing anything to recruit new clients. The facility itself is often dirty, including the bathroom and the carpet in the studio area itself. None of the things that made Pure barre fun or special are happening anymore. No milestone celebrations, no fun social media posts, no themed classes, no seasonal socks, no bringing in outside vendors, no snacks/drinks. We have a wonderful community who is very invested in the success of this place, but everyone is worried and management is not doing enough to put down the rumors or inspire confidence that this is a functioning business. A longtime classmate recently said to me that every day she walks up to the studio expecting there to be a "closed permanently" sign on the door. This does not make people feel good about the studio and it's distracting from the experience. In addition, I often think that if I were a new client coming to the studio for the first time, I would never return. It's all very sad. Thank you for soliciting feedback.
Amelia did not show up for class and did not cancel. This is the fourth time this has happened.
Late arrivals or no shows of instructors, at times miscommunication at the front desk regarding pauses in membership.
Pure Barre is an excellent full-body, low-impact workout that still delivers serious results. I've been taking classes for 13 years, and the Brookline studio clearly stands out as one of the best-managed studios around. Amelia, the owner, brings over a decade of Pure Barre teaching experience and real passion to everything she does. She teaches some classes herself â and she's exceptional â but what really sets the studio apart is how high her standards are for every instructor she hires. The consistency across the board is outstanding. I can't say enough great things about this studio!
It is a very good exercise and the people there are fantastic! It is a great community.
Great instructors here and have been doing Pure Barre for a long time and love it. Only issue with this studio is organizational stuffâclasses getting canceled last minute, instructor showing up after class start time and not being able to get into the building before that, in one case an instructor no show. These classes aren't cheap so it's frustrating when that happens. Seems like studio struggles with operational issues.
Love the workout, and the teachers are all amazing. I am committed to the studio. But the management is really challenging. Classes being canceled with very little notice or instructors showing up late is not a good look. Clients shouldn't be waiting outside in the high heat, pouring rain, snow, freezing cold, etc., two minutes before a class starts. Teachers need to be in the studio at least 15 minutes before class starts. I will keep coming because this is the best workout, and I have gotten so much stronger. But I find these things are really unappealing, and they make it hard for me to recommend them to anyone else.
It is hard when the teacher shows up late or doesn't show up. If a member didn't show up to a class we would be charged and I think the teachers should have the same accountability.
I really like how much of a challenge each class is even though I have been going for six or so years! I like how elegant and hip-opening many of the moves are, and how it is a full body workout. I like the wall of windows and the carpet and barre! The vibes are good! The instructors are all so peppy and informative, and hands-on corrections are very helpful. And it's super fun!!
Great instructors beautiful space Always feel so good after class
Consistency in instructor scheduling, starting classes on time/ensuring the doors are open at least 10 min before classes are supposed to start.
Visible improvement over time
Love the workout and instructors. Would love to see more Friday classes and 8:30am weekday classes.
Love the instructors and energy! I wish there was a larger variety of class formats and different formats offered more often. Would love more Define classes on the schedule.
Love the classes. But would like a consistent schedule without classes being canceled last minute. And would also really appreciate classes to start on time and doors to be open at least 15 minutes before start time so we aren't standing on the sidewalk right before class. Thank you for considering.
Type of exercises especially on the barre. The studio has a beautiful view. The studio is nice in size and its new. The owners.
I love the exercises, the atmosphere, the Owners, Teachers and Sales staff, the other members, the friendliness, the upbeat atmosphere, the great music, the wonderful neighborhood, the improvement in my body, attitude, energy level, mental outlook, confidence. I LOVE Pure Barre!
I rely on the early morning classes, but it's hard when I can't rely on the teacher to get there on time or at all when the class is still on the schedule and that the classes are sometimes canceled
Better class times and consistency with instructors
Best form of exercise there is and the studio is a wonderful welcoming community.
Great workout, low risk of injury, can advance on my own timeline Teachers are enthusiastic and knowledgable Community is friendly and supportive Studio is close to my home
**More class variety** More teachers More celebrations/communication Thank you!
More classes on the schedule, more class variety, and stop arriving late to classes as the studio owner/instructor of the class (or within 5 minutes of class starting, nobody likes waiting outside right before a workout class is supposed to start)
Wider variety of classes (align and reform) and afternoon weekend classes
Pure Barre Brookline keeps my body and mental outlook flexible, happy, healthy and strong!
