The friendly atmosphere to exercise with friends
I love the variety of classes and how they change regularly, a full body workout, challenging with a dedicated team, inspiring music, and motivation from participants. The instructors are knowledgeable, like private coaches helping to ensure attendees are doing correctly. The entire staff are welcoming and caring. All ages, skill set, body types come together in an amazing community. Friends are made each time I come to class.
I love Pure Barre. The Cedar Rapids location seems to be struggling with several things. The studio has a lack of teachers, classes are now routinely cancelled or formats switched. Class times have also been reduced and there are overall fewer classes to sign up for. The studio as a whole seems to be less invested in the pure barre brand. The studio now rarely hosts pop ups, celebrates any special days or even posts on social media to celebrate members. Many things that had become 'tradition' have been taken away and replaced with nothing. Some examples of this are lack of any mothers day classes, no easter egg hunt, no boo bags, no staff holiday party, no community art drive. Inventory in the studio boutique has been very stale. The overall cleanliness of the studio has not been maintained as it had been previously. An example is the carpet has not been cleaned in at least a year. Supplies in the studio are not replaced, such as toilet paper, quality air freshener ( it is now fabreeze which many members have expresses concern about due to its chemical make up), feminine hygiene products and tissues. The studio also lacks a lead teacher and general manager. The staff appears stressed and with out leadership. This is felt from both teachers and desk staff. Members are encouraged to email the owner with concerns, however when that happens she does not respond or is unable to receive the suggestion/criticisms with an open mind that most things are coming from a place of care and concern. All of these issues lead to an overall feeling in the studio that there is a general lack of enthusiasm and many members wonder each month if the studio is closing. I love the workout but the other things happening at the studio make it difficult to convince myself that the costly membership is worth it when there are so many other options. Many members feel the same and we wish that the studio would return to its past energetic, fun, welcoming, happy third place.
Class times are convenient for my schedule. Instructors are fun but professional and really care about students.
morning classes 5 days a week meaning 5:30, 5:45 or 6:00 am. weekend classes that start atleast at 7:30 if not 7:00 especially in the summer Having classes complete at 50 mins and not continually go over. New retail including socks - this will sell but have had the same retail for too long. Not wait until the last minute to start hiring for teachers and then it's too late so we lose class times.
I enjoy the variety of classes and the low impact. Can get a workout without over exerting myself.
Small classes, and attentive and knowledgable instructors.
It's difficult but no impact. Everyone is very friendly.
Right now it's harder to get to a class and I'm noteeeing my favorite class on the schedule much. I understand this is because of the limited staff, but I sure miss my define classesâ¦.
I love that it is a program that works the whole body using low impact exercises. I am stronger, my balance has improved, and I have more flexibility.
Convenient location, variety of classes, experienced teachers.
More variety of classes on single days. Too many back to back of the same formats
A variety Offered multiple times daily Well trained instructors
The community of women to work out with is very motivating! We are welcomed as soon as we enter the studio. There classes formats include strength training, resistance, weights, cardio, stretching/yoga. Class times consider work and weekend schedules. Instructors are well trained/prepared, competent at leading classes, provide alternative options when needed, and are almost like private trainers. Equipment is provided and the facility is exceptionally clean and cared for. A variety of music accompanies each workout, which elevates energy in the room. When class is over, I reflect on how much I appreciate working out with others of all ages and body types. Also how much I accomplished and look forward to the next class!
Pure Barre Cedar Rapids seems like it is less and less interested in giving the âpure barre experience' to its clients. They do not onboard new teachers with any urgency and do not seem to take a proactive approach to ensuring teachers are available and plentiful. Our classes have been increasingly cancelled and changed due to a teacher shortage. The teachers that are currently employed by the studio seems stressed to have to fill so may vacancies. There are simply not enough teachers. Additionally the studio does not seem committed to their members and providing them with the âboutique fitness' brand that pure barre claims to be. We have fewer and fewer special events, the prizes that have been provided feel like a cheapest option and there generally appears to be a lack of communication and care given to desk staff and the clients. The studio is without a lead teacher and general manager and it definitely is being felt by the clients. Pure barre is an excellent workout but the general lack of attention to continue growth and attention to detail is definitely being felt.
I like the way my body feels after a workout, and have noticed my strength has improved.
The people and the knowledge they all know. Always personable and helpful
Class variety, class times, great workout.
Low on teachers. In months missing morning classes. If enrollment is down I feel like that is why. Having classes end on time.
I like the variety of class that I am able to fit into my schedule currently. The teachers are always willing to help answer questions so that you get the most out of each class as well as suggest modifications if needed.
My score is based on the instructor. there are some instructors that seem personable and that care but there is one that never fixes form and it comes across as though they don't care. I also wish there were more times before and after office hours! But I love the classes so far!
A group fitness program designed for all fitness levels and ages. It's encouraging and uplifting with a positive environment.
The ability to come to class when it fits my life schedule. I like having access to the app for signing up and for cancelling if necessary. I like that for the most part it is an all female facility.
Its hard with limited class times during the week. I am only able to do weekends. It tends to be the same class. And limited times. You hear of bigger cities that are open all the time and it makes me want to do something else. I burned out after the fall challenge because having to do 3 classes on one day to make it because I can only do weekends got to be a lot. It would be nice if we could share memberships with other studios. Plus loosing good instructors does not help
