I graded my experience at 10 because of the personal attention from Kevin Travers. He taught me some very effective movements and exercises to improve my mobility, rang of motion and stamina customized specifically to my recent knee injures. He encouraged me to establish an exercise routine that could work for someone like me.
friendly and good service!
There is inadequate lane swimming time for adults who leave for work at 5AM and finish 4-5PM. I’d like to swim on my way home from work, but few lanes are available and if they are, they are crowded. This is because of kid programs. and swim team times. Find a better balance.
The staff in the gym watch people use equipment and then watch them not wipe it down afterwards. The staff says nothing to these people. It should not be the place of another member to say something to the offenders. Put up signs saying you are required to wipe down equipment and have the staff on the floor enforce it.
Great information and lots of time to ask questions. Presley was very knowledgeable.
There are not enough options for people who work full time particularly with regards to swimming. You only cater to the elderly or the young. Swim teams take priority. And those of us still of working age don't stand a chance. You need more weekend options for adults who work. Also, more communication on available swim lanes and best swim times would be great.
Though I'd highly recommend the services, I do fret about security.
We love it
My elderly parents are loyal members of Somerset Hills YMCA. They love swimming in the heated pool regularly, especially in winter. It's a low-impact exercise they both enjoy. But I wish the Y would make it easier for technologically challenged seniors like them to navigate the many other services available there. It would be helpful if there was clear signage about events/services that spells out what else is included in their membership (versus what carries an additional charge).
The Somerset Hills YMCA is a spotless facility with top-tier fitness equipment, great pools, and welcoming staff. The supportive community vibe makes working out here a true joy every day—I highly recommend it!
The Wi-Fi is horrible. Every time I get an email from the business I have to go outside to respond. Try to get a Wi-Fi booster.
The TV's on the treadmills NEVER work or have a terrible signal. The staff doesn't really address the dude bros who park on a machine and chill out on their phone "between reps" The woman's locker room bathroom is always wet and messy. The girls swim team is obnoxiously loud when they are in there and dump all their stuff (bags, backpack) in the aisles so difficult to navigate
Use a larger font on the PowerPoint presentation so everyone can read it. Also, maybe pass a microphone to the people asking questions so everyone can hear.
Half the showers have been out of order in the mens locker room for years. The TVs routinely do not work for all channels on the stairmaster. Th
The facility is huge with an incredible number & variety of machines. Despite its size, the Y is not overwhelming. Everyone is friendly and there’s plenty of staff available to assist with machines.
More parking, a woman’s only section with equipment, a walking track
Great people and facilities. Keep up the good work.
I have been a lifelong member of the Ymca and Ymca families. My family and Bernardsville had a. family membership at basking RidgeYmca for 25 years. I have wonderful memories. I am now a senior citizen, a family of one, and live in Bernardsville only part time. My primary membership is at a YMCA in another state which is supposed to have reciprocal membership benefits at this Ymca. As I strive to remain healthy as a senior citizen, I am exploring my reciprocal membership privileges only to find them quite disappointing. It seems that this YMCA has many tiers of membership. I was told I could not take any of the classes. I was tolld that I could not use a specific set of equipment in the gym.The answers to my questions were vague. And the staff was nice, but not very well informed. I was told that some of the specifics would need to be answered by a higher level of management. However, no one and management has reached out. It made me feel very much like an unwelcome outsider,
Staff is responsible and attentive, and they are consistent in keeping the children engaged or occupied with appropriate activities.
Well equiped facility with many program options
The barre instructor Lori was amazing! Engaging and upbeat. She made the class so much fun.
The dumbbells only go up to 100lbs, it should say least go up to 120 or 140. Also, during busy times, it's hard to find workout equipments
I felt more positive about the goal i want to accomplish about my weight Thanks to my trainer for her expertise for leading me to my goal!
A plethora of activities for all ages, unparalleled facilities, and nice people. They really try to have classes and activities for everyone regardless of physical abilities. The Parkinson's program has made a real difference for members of this community, just as an example. It's a nice place for 'I'm just folks "!
Classes are great, all employees are friendly, great vibe & kind community everywhere!
The sound system was very muffled. My seat was at such an angle I couldn’t see the screen. The content was not interesting. I will not ask for a return of my fee because I strayed for the complete first program. But, I’m requesting a refund for the remaining 5 sessions for both my wife and me. Joseph Zazzara 908-7273400 and Paulette Zazzara 973 978-9545.
The facility is very large and clean. I also like the many different classes that are offered
The facilities are fantastic, and our family has really enjoyed them. We do have a family membership, though, and the Kids Zone and Kids Pool being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for us to get the full value. Since we both work during the week, weekends are our only chance to use the club as a family, and the amenities that matter most to us are only available on Saturdays.
Great gym, plenty of equipment, helpful staff. Be great if there were a more dedicated stretching area.
People there are friendly and helpful. Facility in excellent condition.
According to my son, there are a lot of activities to keep him engaged. The hours for pickup are very convenient.
Excellent staff…helpful volunteers….plenty of equipment …. No pressure exercising
Very helpful with my time. Always great service. I appreciate for your help thats amazing to have that program in school!
Love that it is close to work. Can be crowded after 4:00 with high school students.
Great faculties
Always a different teacher, disorganized
Could use more guidance on proper form for the egym. Felt that when I was set up, machines were not adjusted to my size.
No day passes. Visiting my sister from out of town and I can only buy a one week pass so a workout costs me $30. No more. Not doing that again.
I really enjoy the functional fitness classes for Active Older Adults! The Chair Yoga too!
Reduce costs for classes (the only service you provide that is currently interesting to me). Compared to private, similar classes the Y is more expensive, especially for non member rates, or allocating annual membership to a few classes. Note that I don't use nor have interest in value of pool and exercise rooms.
The staff is so amazing with my daughter !
I love the Y. I would definitely appreciate more options for strength training that are more straightforward rather than Les Mills classes.
They have excellent instructors, great classes, everyone there helpful, great pools and clean
Great instructor (Allison) for water aerobics; excellent pools, very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Updated facilities, newer equipment, friendly staff.
Staff are super friendly very helpful the Y at Sonerset had a PHENOMENAL LIVE STRONG STAFF and trainers . Simply WONDERFUL and thank you for all you do !!!
Friendly staff. Excellent programs. Great equipment in the gym.
The people
Program. Offerings every day for many types of people. Lots of people there but never to crowded,
1) There should be an exercise program similar to the one for cancer survivors (LIVESTRONG) for seniors in general.
2) A suggestion box could be helpful if the suggestions are read and evaluated.
3) Emails with weekly schedule for wellness center programs as well as schedule for pool and gym or any announcements should be sent out with schedules or direct links to website may be helpful.
We love the family swim with the toddler area and the slides! Such a great way to spend some quality family time while learning how to be safe in the water!
