The Somerset Hills YMCA is a spotless facility with top-tier fitness equipment, great pools, and welcoming staff. The supportive community vibe makes working out here a true joy every day—I highly recommend it!
The Wi-Fi is horrible. Every time I get an email from the business I have to go outside to respond. Try to get a Wi-Fi booster.
The TV's on the treadmills NEVER work or have a terrible signal. The staff doesn't really address the dude bros who park on a machine and chill out on their phone "between reps" The woman's locker room bathroom is always wet and messy. The girls swim team is obnoxiously loud when they are in there and dump all their stuff (bags, backpack) in the aisles so difficult to navigate
Half the showers have been out of order in the mens locker room for years. The TVs routinely do not work for all channels on the stairmaster. Th
The facility is huge with an incredible number & variety of machines. Despite its size, the Y is not overwhelming. Everyone is friendly and there’s plenty of staff available to assist with machines.
More parking, a woman’s only section with equipment, a walking track
Great people and facilities. Keep up the good work.
I have been a lifelong member of the Ymca and Ymca families. My family and Bernardsville had a. family membership at basking RidgeYmca for 25 years. I have wonderful memories. I am now a senior citizen, a family of one, and live in Bernardsville only part time. My primary membership is at a YMCA in another state which is supposed to have reciprocal membership benefits at this Ymca. As I strive to remain healthy as a senior citizen, I am exploring my reciprocal membership privileges only to find them quite disappointing. It seems that this YMCA has many tiers of membership. I was told I could not take any of the classes. I was tolld that I could not use a specific set of equipment in the gym.The answers to my questions were vague. And the staff was nice, but not very well informed. I was told that some of the specifics would need to be answered by a higher level of management. However, no one and management has reached out. It made me feel very much like an unwelcome outsider,
Well equiped facility with many program options
The barre instructor Lori was amazing! Engaging and upbeat. She made the class so much fun.
The dumbbells only go up to 100lbs, it should say least go up to 120 or 140. Also, during busy times, it's hard to find workout equipments
I felt more positive about the goal i want to accomplish about my weight Thanks to my trainer for her expertise for leading me to my goal!
A plethora of activities for all ages, unparalleled facilities, and nice people. They really try to have classes and activities for everyone regardless of physical abilities. The Parkinson's program has made a real difference for members of this community, just as an example. It's a nice place for 'I'm just folks "!
Classes are great, all employees are friendly, great vibe & kind community everywhere!
The facilities are fantastic, and our family has really enjoyed them. We do have a family membership, though, and the Kids Zone and Kids Pool being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for us to get the full value. Since we both work during the week, weekends are our only chance to use the club as a family, and the amenities that matter most to us are only available on Saturdays.
Great gym, plenty of equipment, helpful staff. Be great if there were a more dedicated stretching area.
People there are friendly and helpful. Facility in excellent condition.
Love that it is close to work. Can be crowded after 4:00 with high school students.
Great faculties
Could use more guidance on proper form for the egym. Felt that when I was set up, machines were not adjusted to my size.
No day passes. Visiting my sister from out of town and I can only buy a one week pass so a workout costs me $30. No more. Not doing that again.
I really enjoy the functional fitness classes for Active Older Adults! The Chair Yoga too!
Reduce costs for classes (the only service you provide that is currently interesting to me). Compared to private, similar classes the Y is more expensive, especially for non member rates, or allocating annual membership to a few classes. Note that I don't use nor have interest in value of pool and exercise rooms.
Great instructor (Allison) for water aerobics; excellent pools, very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Updated facilities, newer equipment, friendly staff.
Friendly staff. Excellent programs. Great equipment in the gym.
We love the family swim with the toddler area and the slides! Such a great way to spend some quality family time while learning how to be safe in the water!
VERY clean and updated facility. Super staff. A win all around.
All the options available
Excellent Jim and they have a workout for people with Parkinson’s disease and that’s an excellent program which has helped me a lot. It’s very neat and clean facility also
I put my membership on hold for the summer. I am away for the summer and joined a local la fitness. For less money j got much more equipment and cardio machines. I stayed with the ymca bc of it’s convenience and resumed my membership this month. I started coming this week to the treadmill tv not working. We barely have equipment and one was coned off needs repair. Another the back rest was broken. Another the lever on the side to move the leg extension was jamming. I think for the money spent each month on an individual membership i am not getting as much as i should. The y gets so crowded at times maybe get some more equipment i imagine there is additional space not being fully utilized?
I love the Somerset Hills YMCA. The staff creates a really open and friendly community feel. They offer so many activities, classes and a wide range of gym equipment. I feel fortunate to belong to this impressive organization!!
Although I came to Somerset Hills Y because Bridgewater pool was closed, I enjoyed the Y very much. Beautiful facility, great pool, great showers, nice locker room! I'm back at Bridgewater now because it's more convenient for me and I've been coming th B'water for years. Now and then I'll treat myself to a swim at Somerset Hills! Thanks for being so welcoming!
There are a few things I am missing from my old YMCA in the Summit Area that if they were offered here, I would gladly say a 10
the kids corner/zone; for working families, we really can only use it on the weekends but it is only offered on Saturdays. If Sundays were also offered, that would be a huge perk
An app for members would go a long way. We would be able to easily access class schedules, register/ cancel for classes, and see when swim times are available for each pool.
The amount of machines is outstanding and for how big this Y is and how many people are there daily, it is never crowded. I would say that is the biggest positive here.
I think that the Somerset Hills YMCA is the best equipped Y that I have ever seen. You have an extensive program that covers all ages from babies to senior citizens. You do a great job!
Great facility and nice people who work there
More open lanes in the Englehard pool on Sunday.
Some instructors don’t always recognize students’ progress or pay close attention to each child. There’s limited individualized feedback and stroke correction, and not enough actual practice time, which can slow students’ progress.
This is the nicest Y I have ever been to. There are so many class options and the fitness floor has so many options. Love the Les Mills classes and yoga classes.
Good facility and nice staff
Very large and accessible facility. It's very clean and kept very tidy and organized
They are very experienced in many aspects of body injuries. I am so grateful for their support and encouragement in my own issues post surgery.
Group exercise classes.
Excellent facilities, convenient schedules and friendly knowledgeable staff!
The aquatics programs are top tier/top notch. The aquatic facilities are beautiful and well maintained.
I love the helpful and professional staff, class offerings and the fact that the entire gym is well maintained!!!
Excellent quality facility and staff!
Clean modern facility. Machine reasonably available
A few more machines so people dont have to wait as long.
The locker room is very clean, the main pool is warm enough, and all staff are friendly
