Our son loves the excursions and is making great friends! I would just say that paintball was more like painball – every kid on the field trip came home bloody and bruised. Likely not age appropriate but character building I guess?
Somerset Hills YMCA is AMAZING :)
Best summer camp in the area! Excellent leadership team that truly cares about the campers and is incredibly responsive to parents.
My Kids were complaining that there is a long wait time in between activities. they also prefer free swim, and would appreciate more free swim during Monday - Thursday, instead of just Fridays.
My kids love the summer camp [ ACORN] Everyone has been great, Andrew, Theresa, Lead Campers, CITs, etc. My kids would love to go back!!
Great price, location is great. Love that the trips are built into the price. Swim lessons daily and pizza included on Friday. Wish the hours were a little more accommodating for working parents and that the curriculum was a little more organized. There are themes mentioned but they aren't followed through with and don't seem to be integrated into the day.
Ymca camp was always the best for my Child, and she had a very nice time to get good responsiblity and experiance.
My kids are attending Camp Dragonfly and it has been an amazing experience. I haven't see my children this happy to attend camp in years; they love their counselors and the daily activities. I'm so grateful to the team. Counselor Valeria and Camp lead Andrew truly care and are making a difference. Simply put, this has been the best YMCA camp experience for my children and they are flourishing. Thank you!
Everything :)
The summer camp is the best experience for my son. He's loving. Thanks for you excellent work!!!
I enrolled my child in the Pre-K Summer Camp with high hopes, and I must say that the activities themselves were enjoyable and well-organized. However, I was quite disappointed with how unfriendly the staff seemed to be. From the very first day, they expressed concerns about my son, who is three and a half years old and was adjusting to a new environment. Instead of giving him even a week to settle in, they immediately insisted that he needed a one-to-one aide. This felt quite discriminatory, as they didn't give us the chance to explore other solutions or allow him time to adjust. We requested a refund, and we are still waiting for it to be processed. Overall, while the camp's activities were good, the lack of patience and warmth from the staff made it a disappointing experience for us.
The counselors and admin are all great and take great care of the kids. My kids have a great time every summer
We have great experience working with SHY summer camp program. My kid enjoys the program.
We participate in a variety of camps in the area during the summer. The Y summer camp is very good but there are a few things that may make it a bit more exciting for the campers such as weekly field trips to places around Basking Ridge, late night swim parties, pizza/movie parties, and more electives for the campers during the week. Also, it would be great to have a lunch purchase option.
Summer camp is a big deal for my grandson, who has Muscular Dystrophy. He doesn't have many social interactions with kids his own age and his physical abilities are limited. So, he spends most of his summer time at home playing video games. Somerset Hills YMCA's Summer Camp was so good for him. Camp was very inclusive of my grandson's special needs. He truly felt like one of the kids. The counselors worked with me to understand his physical abilities and restrictions. He especially enjoyed the STEM projects, day trips and reptile show. He'll definitely be back again next summer.
The camp is a very good experience for our children. They have fun and learn to make new friends!
This is not what it used to be and it is way overpriced for what it is now. The value is lacking. The engagement is lacking. It's pretty much just childcare with no above and beyond. My older child used these camps annually all summer long. Pre Covid. My younger child attended this summer and I will likely not send again. Further, items were lost and not found, even items clearly labeled properly. And I've checked the lost and found. It's awful. I'm so disappointed. The Y used to be a place I trusted and considered to send my children. I don't really have this view anymore. It's a business and isn't focused on the members or participants.
Weekly field trips and daily pool time. Loved that there were traditional camp crafts and specialized weeks.
Close proximity and my child being content coming home.
The camp was well-organized, and communication was good. Director and staff very friendly. My daughter had a wonderful time!
The staff is wonderful. The variety of activities for the kids. The option to pick and choose your weeks and that it's offered for 10 weeks in the summer as well as early drop off and later pick up times!
I love that my son learned how to swim at the YMCA camp and also during his years at daycare at the YMCA. He always came back happy with a smile. His only disappointment was if we picked him up too early. All of the counselors always knew his name and greeted him with smiles each day. Ms. Sally Roser was top notch, professional, dependable and friendly. She will be missed!
My daughters loved it! I loved All the activities and specially that my daughters were safe and felt happy there!
Everyone is friendly and my daughter is really having a great time.
Get Sally's Roses back at the childcare center and fire whoever's decision it was to remove her.
