This Y is extremely dated and feels as though you are walking into a middle school gymnasium

The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The facility was immaculate. It would get a 10 if parking was easier.

A staff member should be spending time showing new members how to use the equipment in the gym for the new members safety. Also I noticed that there are teenager, maybe Junior High children in the gym using the equipment unsupervised. I don't think that should be happening. In addition, I also see people wearing slides instead of sneakers in the gym and the using equipment which is just not safe. If there isn't a rule against that, there should be.

As far as the facility at the ymca areas seem clean and take care of. How ever the overall way the building is ran is absolutely terrible I would tell anyone thinking of having a child start gymnastics to run away. They re modeled the gym and closed off the entrance to walk to the gymnasium, making going downstairs to take a 6 person capacity elevator to go upstairs. There is a perfectly good hallway but nope sorry its closed. Has to be one if the most idiotic things someone could conjure up. Whoever had that idea isn't the dumbest person around but they better hope that person doesn't die. And if you do manage to make it the gym with your child intome,good look trying to find a seat. Most times syanding room only and obviously overcrowded. The future is bleak at the y at best.

Everything well so I like lots

Always a positive experience at the Y in Somerville.

The staff/trainers are continually rude and inconsiderate of other patrons. One trainer named Mark is at the facility almost every evening working out extremely loudly, grunting and yelling at full
volume, as well as singing. It is disruptive to everyone else in the space, however the staff at the desk don’t ask him to be more respectful. The staff is also frequently working out themselves, not near the desk or available if they are needed. Bathrooms are usually very dirty and often out of toilet paper or paper towels. some equipment is broken often too

Mens locker room and showers need work. I recognize the cost, but the facilities are very outdated

the womens locker room is a digrace - dirty and broken machines that have not been replaced

Lacking in cleanliness

Love the place and the classes but the place could use cleaning. The shower curtains are slimy, consider washing them with bleach and rehang them. Sweeping daily would be great!

I left my watch by the pool. I called as I was driving home and I couldn’t get through to a person. I drove back to the Y. It was gone. There was a man sitting there who said that he had seen it 20 minutes earlier if they had answered the phone, maybe they could’ve went in and got it before someone stole it. Big disappointment. It was the first time I was using my membership.
