Reoppen the pool
I was very disappointed when the pool closed. Also, I have never before belonged to a gym which didn’t have water fountains. I also didn’t appreciate the sign on the 2nd floor women’s bathroom door that said the bathroom was off limits to gym goers after 7am. The sign was there for many months but I never saw any signs of children there between 7 and 8 am. Lastly, the AC wasn’t in strong enough in the gym yesterday. This was long after the heat wave had ended so I would have expected the AC to be working,
Flexibility of scheduling and in person coaching options
I love all of my instructors. I always get s great workout. Everyone is very helpful and friendly.
i like the equipment and
Unfortunately, this facility no longer offers the two things that matter most to me: the swimming pool and Zumba classes. The pool is currently closed, and about one month after I joined, Zumba classes were discontinued. Because of this, the membership has not met my needs as expected.
I love that there are two indoor pickleball courts. Also, the classes are a lot of fun and are great workouts.
Instructors are good, friendly. Facility is clean
I miss the pool classes.
As a senior girl, I really like the morning classes. The convience, so close to home, and all the instructors are great!
Closing the pool is a huge mistake. The cost of installing the pool must have been very substantial. So closing seems like a huge waste of money.
Staff is very friendly. They do the best they can maintaining the machinery and dumbbells. Give them more support! Tom Ryan runs a great gym.
I enjoy the facility, very clean and people are very friendly
Staff members are usually rude and unwelcoming. Pool closed down.
Would have been higher but swimming pool was closed and canceled the Zumba classes that I liked on Tuesdays. Gym has good equipment
reopen the pool
Unhappy that pool closed
I have always gone to the pool for exercise classes. I miss the pool but am now trying other classes. I am finding the ones I like.
Getting rid of the pool makes the Y much less useful to me. It really disappointed me when you all did that.
no longer offer aqua fitness classes, studio floor and weight equipment is always dirty,
Stopping the pool was a very bad ideal, my family use to love it but not anymore and YMCA REFUSED to reduce the monthly subscription that's unfair. I can't recommend a friend
I am sharing this feedback because I truly value having this YMCA in our community and love the convenience of the location. However, several recent experiences have made it difficult to remain a satisfied member:
• Pool Closure & Communication: I was very disappointed that the pool was closed without providing members adequate notice. For many of us, the pool is the primary reason for our membership, and the lack of communication makes it impossible to plan our workouts.
• Inconsistent Hours: The weekend hours vary frequently, which creates a lot of confusion. It would be much more member-friendly to have a stable, predictable schedule that we can rely on.
• Recommendation: While the facility itself is in a great spot, the current issues with communication and scheduling consistency make it hard for me to recommend this branch to others at this time.
I hope to see these operational hurdles addressed soon so the experience matches the quality of the location.
I think the fees are a little high & we should receive a discount due to the pool was removed
Pool shutdown. Since we no longer have access to pool price should be review
It would be helpful if there were earlier classes held for those who like to get a jump start on their day.
More evening classes
The friendly nature of those in charge, the personal trainers and the receptionists.
I enjoy the group fitness classes very much but since the pool closed with no hope of reopening I can not recommend the South Amboy Y.
It's dirty. Jerry rigged together (flooring patches, wall patches). The equipment is not well maintained. Weights have disappeared. The classes seem good but they are cancelled quite often. There are no early morning bootcamps or similar. The cost is high for what you get. And you just closed the pool.
Location, good equipment, happy people, community
People! People! People!
I like the facility big picture, but the YMCA policy of letting teenagers use the weight room unsupervised creates problems. Sitting on machines but not using is the biggest.
You should have kept the swimming pool open, and keep the facility cleaner
well the pool is gone now and there need to be more exercise classes and more treadmills,
Exercise class with Jeannine on Wed. from 9 to 10 am is great. 30 minutes of aerobics and 30 min of using weights is perfect. I am not sure of teacher's name but she is on Thursday from 10 to 11:00 with very similiar class. She is good and fun and knows how to motivate me to do better.
I love our South Amboy YMCA. Convenient location and all sorts of classes. Great instructors as well.
The facility is awesome, the staff is awesome.
Awesome machines in the weight room, great crew. I love this facility. I'm a little alarmed you closed the pool; are you guys doing OK?
Pool is now close. Cost continues to rise. Upstairs is always so hot.
You no longer have a pool, the gym equipment is in sad shape.
The pool is closed. Water classes were a part of my exercise program. Classes keep getting canceled at the last minute. There seems to be less and less classes available. The entire gym just seems to be falling apart. It seems to me that The Gym is going to be eventually closed. And the property repurposed or knocked down for something else. I'm sad that I have to say these things because having a gym close by is essential to my health and well-being. Thank you.
horrible treadmills with tvs that do not work. *staff does not care . been like this for 2 years
The pool was a big part of my spring/summer cardio routine, i was upset to see it go right before the warmer seasons began.
The one main problem that I hear from other members is regrding the closing of the pool. Many people aer upset by this.
The facility is very old. Other YMCA's are more modern with pools and dressing rooms
Convenience part of my Health insurance so I maintain a healthy life style.
Offer more classes
I attend the South Amboy location and the pool was recently closed permanently. It was the main reason I was going there.
the gym equipment is not well maintained. there are holes in the upholstery and the pins are all detatched from the resistance machines. all of the cardio equipment squeaks. they never should have ripped up the turf for a makeshift functional room. there is poor communication from management when you try to address any concerns, they rarely respond. the only program they care about is camp and child care, but then they take those kids to the waterfront park and don't properly supervise them (with the exception of mr. tony, who is attentive). haven't brought back daytime child watch for gym & class goers. group exercise classes cancelled every week, instead of being switched to another format. this place has gone downhill but it's convenient.
Close to our home, clean, everything we need.
