The instructors and classes are great!
Great exercise and fun class. Love the instructors
Prices for members are great, but non member pricing is more expensive than every other league in and around Greensboro. The fields in other leagues are also noticeably nicer, especially for goalkeepers who have big dried dirt spots under them
I love the Aqua Arthritis class! Kelly is a great instructor. There are a variety of classes to explore. I've invited friends to my class.
Great facility. I enjoy swimming and fitness classes.
Younger teams need less players out on field to learn not to crowd and play better.
classes kept getting canceled, felt very repetitive
Assign soccer coach rather than relying solely on parent volunteers
Would love more options for drop in classes. Sometimes I may not be able to make it to one class but would like the flexibility to come join another class time or day of the week. I’ve had others mention they would love to drop in. Pay for a week at a time and come drop in. After free trial class, maybe it’s the middle of the month or last couple weeks and you don’t want to pay for a whole month, so then you end up waiting for the next month to register. Could be making money for those couple weeks and then a new sign up for the entire month coming. Would love a class that has rotation of instructors. I like new spin on instruction. Sometimes the instructors just stick to the same routine and would be nice for some variations.
I feel the intermediate class could be more structured. Since there are only two participants, I was hoping both swimmers would get more individual instruction and practice. A significant part of the 30-minute lesson is spent discussing what to learn, and the focus is mostly on one participant. It would be helpful to have a planned lesson with balanced attention and more swimming practice for both participants.
The class is very invigorating and AK is a great instructor.
I love the competitiveness, but don’t love the league assignments. Yet again, another year where divisions were split and our team will face the same teams over and over. There are enough teams to where
I do not play soccer. I do not like soccer. I have no Idea why you are asking me about soccer.
We’re very pleased with how the program is run and the scheduling works well for our family.
The classes are great, but the Tuesday, Thursday 10:00 class had too many instructors and not enough consistency.
Very friendly, fun , and coaches care about the kids.
The exercise in the pool is fun & it’s good to social too .
Make pool water a little warmer!
I really liked the class. I want to take another private one for myself and my friends. I wish there were more private swim options
Let's start with the pool. Minimally they've been doing band aid fixes rather than fixing the issues once and for all normally for the last year.
Class wise some instructors are participants not trained instructors with a background in physical fitness. No music during classes because of overlaps. Schedule should be revised preventing overlaps. There's a hour and a half with no classes that would allow this. The music is what motivates and gets people going, The class is flat without it, Frankly I've been there over 5 years but I think I'm going to leave because it's just not fun anymore
I love the SpearsY! So many different activities and I never feel self-conscious. What's not to love?
Spears is too crowded. Some equipment is inoperative and takes long time to be repaired. Even water fountain was broken for several weeks. Cleaning wipes are out. The facility needs a refresh.
I would recommend the Spears YMCA to a friend because it offers a welcoming environment, a variety of fitness and recreational activities, and opportunities to connect with the community. The staff and facilities make it a great place to stay active, meet new people, and work toward personal fitness goals.
The workout accommodations, seasonal activities and sports suit a need for everyone in our family. I do wish there were more classes for the 30-50 age group.
Morning Group Classes instructors are great!
the locker rooms are nasty - especially showers. They need to be cleaned daily.
Everyone is friendly.
I would recommend Spears because the equipment is sufficient and most often functional, and the spaces are relatively clean and orderly.
The gym is great, people are friendly, staff are friendly, good classes. Only question for me and other lap swimmers is why the pool is so warm.
The Spears Y is a great place, however there are a few things that I wish would have a little more attention and detail. If at all possible, having a return of the wet wipes to wipe down equipment would be immensely appreciated. I see a lot of members haphazardly wipe down equipment when only paper towels are present. Some pieces of equipment have been broken for a couple of months. A monthly update or something indicated on the paper would be helpful. Finally, some of the new desk people in the fitness room present as unapproachable. The majority of them are great, kind, and welcoming, however a few bad apples can spoil the bunch.
Good 👍
Great programs and staff
I enjoyed the acquatic program wt Meg because she pays attention to every person in the class. She is very enthusiastic.
You guys removed the wipes from the gym area and now no one wipes down their machines becasue its less convient
Group classes are too crowded.
Good facilities. Wide array of options for every need or desire. Would like to see saunas and more TRX classes
Equipment and facility maintenance is a problem. Simple cable machines take three months to fix. Bathroom 'upgrades' (these were not upgrades as the old gutter system was more effective in the showers than the floors where you now stand in the water from the guy next to you), these took forever since May 11 and still not completed. Adding new tiles while the ceiling and fan ducts are rusted does not make sense. Putting a sign on a machine that users should be careful the pin is bent, does not make sense, in the time taken to print and laminate the sign you could have removed the pin, straightened it and re-installed it. When you know equipment is old, do preventative checks and maintenance and keep certain parts (like cables in stock.
The staff is always very friendly & helpful!
It’s just too crowded - recomm
nice facility- friendly atmosphere - I like the group classes so far
Always friendly instructors / personnel; always CLEAN
The Y offers a wide variety of quality programs and fitness options and the staff is great!
I wish you offered more classes such as yoga for exercise. I often want to go for a group exercise class, but if it’s at a time I can go to It’s not one I’m interested in. I’ve had my membership for over a year and never used the facility because of this. The only reason we still have a membership is cause my husband uses the gym.
Always open when it's supposed to be open. Very convenient hours. Weight machines kept in generally good condition.
Rachael A, has been an amazing program coordinator and coach. I enjoy the programs for my kids and the late childcare. My only drawback is I have no signal inside, so wifi would be great to use my phone during workouts.
I love sauna but sometimes it seems sorta dirty and needs to be powerwashed. There's a couple items that need a deep cleaning
Love the instructor and the fellowship.
I joined to go to low impact classes. I enjoy Silver Sneakers and the balance class that was changed to‘Functional Flex.’ However, it is only offered once a week. The Silver Sneakers class is so crowded, you have to get there a half hour early to wait or be turned away. That happened to me today. I joined for health. It’s too stressful to come. Thinking about canceling, not worth $67 a month.
The atmosphere is very pleasant mostly because the Staff is friendly and professional. In addition, there's enough equipment for everyone without having to wait in lines.
When equipment breaks it’s understandable, but it often takes a very long time to repair. The layout of the back workout room is still worse than before—not as much equipment and the equipment against the wall makes it awkward to use the pull up bar. With the TRX in the middle it was much more versatile. Probably the only benefit is storage for the kettle bells. It’s inconvenient that there are fewer water fountains now. For the price point I think it’s a good value and I think people with kids get a great value. I’m not sure if I’d prefer the Y over an alternative that’s less expensive and open later. We enjoy it overall. The staff are friendly and helpful.
