Emma had a wonderful experience at aftercare! Fun games and activities but most of all, caring and interactive staff
There is one counselor (Mr Derek) that is very aggressive with the children and we have highlighted before. I have a child who has come home from aftercare in hysterics on more than one occasion and is begging me not to go next year. We did raise a concern with management, but after multiple email follow-ups were just responded to saying it would be addressed. I’m not sure if the behavior was addressed but again yesterday I was begged to not sign up again next year.
My kids and many others don’t want to go any more. They say they are yelled at all the time (especially by the more mature staff), and they don’t get to go out to play until the very end. They said the staff doesn’t play or coordinate any activities either.
Consistency, trustworthy
Engaging for kids in a safe environment
Kids play and get homework help.
Great option for working families. Hope we don’t see steep increases
My kids enjoy going to aftercare
more activities and more outside time when it's nice out :)
hope that every child can be treated fairly and given equal attention. Some children are naturally more outgoing, while others are quieter or more introverted. For those quieter children, it can sometimes be harder for them to speak up or express their feelings. It would mean a lot if teachers could take a little extra time to patiently listen to these children and encourage them to share their thoughts. Feeling heard and supported can make a big difference in their confidence and overall experience in the program.
Hours of operations
I am so tired of hearing almost every day that my child had to sit out. When I ask for more detail, it's for stupidity for rolling her eyes. Yes, my 8 year old daughter got in trouble and it had to be reported to me that she rolled her eyes…absolutely insane. The discipline, ESPECIALLY for girls, is out of control. These kids have to behave and pay attention for 6 1/2 hours every day, and they should be entitled to burn off some energy without fear of reprisal. My same daughter also had to sit out FOR OVER AN HOUR, because she sat on her friend's lap. There was no seat available and nobody complained to the staff but she was penalized anyway - swift and severe for absolutely nothing. I asked to talk to Luna about it but she always sends someone else to talk to me. The only reason we're still using aftercare is because of the convenience, and this will likely be our last year there. I have heard this from several other parents who are all at the end of their ropes with frustration. Maybe a rating of 2 is too high…very disappointed.
Peace of mind that my child is safe and can go from school to after care without the need for a bus .
I'm not disappointed by the aftercare program. It is a great program. I have two kids at Burnet Hill and the staff is great. I would like to see more changes in regards to structure for kids. My 4th grader used to do HW there but currently done home with his HW not done. I would like to see kids split up more based on interests and for better socialization and conflict resolution. I would also like healthier snacks (and am willing to pay more for that!!) . Thank you!
Convenience that it is at Riker Hill and Kids dont need to be bused.
Kara is wonderful!!!!
My child left the program because he felt it was too strict. On one occasion a member of the staff behaved towards him in an intimidating manner and when I called to speak to the head of the program about it no one ever responded. My child started acting out and misbehaving a lot in the program (which is not typical for him). He is much happier now that he has left. We have a younger child as well who is still happy with the program but has also told us she feels it is too strict (too many rules, not enough choice of activities by the kids).
The staff at st.cloud afterschool are all very professional, kind and wonderful with the children.
My child is not happy. Staff doesn't pay attention. There are too many restrictions put on kids. Lacks fun activities and engagement with kids.
The staff love kids and the crafts, activity designed attractive. Of they can have more out door free play will be a adds on. Thanks.
My kid loves it, staff is great…
My kid has come home crying multiple time due to a particular teacher. I have formally complained to the person in- charge of the program at the school and the behavior still continues. I would like to connect with someone who is in-charge of the Aftercare program to talk through before we need to move our kid out of the program.
continue adding different activities, keeping them physically active! :)
Kids say teachers are not nice
My children are happy always Want to stay. The staff is amazing with my kids and they are usually happy when I arrive to pick them up.
My daughter told me that she loves going to afterschool. I am glad to know that, she has the opportunity to do more activities and complete homework and socializing more.
My son gets a chance to particpate in various activites and make friends.
Love it! Staff is amazing
There are not many activities to keep my child engaged
I was disappointed by the lack of clear and timely communication regarding the vacation camp eligibility and accommodation criteria for my two children, ages 5 and 12. I was able to successfully register both children online and completed all required documentation, including clearly stating that my daughter requires additional assistance. Despite this, no one reached out to discuss placement, accommodations, or any potential concerns. I made several attempts to proactively verify that both children were properly placed and that their needs could be met, but I did not receive confirmation or follow-up. It was only after the camp began that I was informed they could not accommodate either child, which caused significant disruption and inconvenience for my family.
WO Redwood Aftercare- Staff, Talent Show
Dependable and friendly staff. My kids enjoyed their experience and want to do it again next school year.
Not much activities for the kids . Snack quality is poor. Teachers are rude.
Aftercare availability at school site
The staff is great. The hours went well with school and work schedule. Most importantly my son enjoyed his time there.
Initially my son really liked the program but then he started to complain about going and asked to be picked up as early as possible. He told us that the head of the program was yelling at the children all the time. There were times that I witnessed this myself and in good conscience I will not be able to send my son back to after care next year.
It is a great and helpful program for working parents.
More structured play to nurture friendship among kids
Na
its very expensive and the whole building needs major renovation. Womens bathroom is disgusting.
These fundraisers are confusing. I want to donate to you, I want my kids to be involved in your donation events, but you don't make it easy. This latest one that's coming up is $25 for 3 events, one a month. That's a fine price, totally happy to pay that, seems like a good deal. But for one thing, we don't know when these events will be. My kids don't go to YMCA every day. So it doesn't make sense to sign up for 3 events if my kids won't be there. Cuz you know they're going to complain if it turns out they have sports that day and so won't be at YMCA. Second is the actual events. Most are related to junk food... cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, chocolate milk. If my kids eat these things at 5pm, it's not going to be a successful dinner. I know it's hard to find an event that appeals to everyone. I know you can't find a date that works for everyone. But I'm not loving this one. But the staff are great. My kids like them. My kids have fun there.
This is our first year in the after care program. It's not as engaging for the kids as I was hoping. It ends up being a lot of downtime and watching TV.
My son is happy at aftercare!
More structured group physical activities
Lower price
My daughter loves aftercare and loves the YMCA associates!
Have more things for the fourth graders to do than coloring and legos
We love our YMCA after school program! The counselors are so friendly, and they make my little one feel very safe and well cared for. I can't imagine doing anything else for aftercare!!
Great staff and great hours of operation!!!!
The private swimming lessons are impossible to book. No reply from director whatsoever
