Easier way to do makeups and visibility of scheduled lessons in the app. Otherwise it's great
During today's lesson nothing was practiced or taught, and the kids were told next week they may play again. I am paying for swim lessons not free time in the pool. My daughter will never advance if form and technique are not taught.
Poor communication. No information by the front desk in person and no answer to emails sent to the address front desk indicated to contact.
The best decision I’ve made ! All instructors are caring and make
Professors rotate too much, after they stabilized, i do not see structure or consistency when kids struggle, they walk around the pull and shout. Very little on the water explaining. Week over week the same thing. I maintain the kid going and consistency but frankly see zero progress. Would i stay long term. Doubtful.
My son loves the Piranhas swim classes every Sunday with Coach James and swim teachers
there is lack of structure in the parent and me swim class, truly just feels like open swim vs. any actual lessons/ skills being taught. level 2 swim class is constantly changing instructors, which hinders my sons ability to feel comfortable and build upon skills. the lack of consistency seems to cause him to reset each lesson and we haven't seen much progression in his swim skills.
I like the classes and every instructor and staff member that we come in contact with is very friendly.
Our swim instructor, Kara. She's personable, professional and knowledgeable. She took my daughter from being afraid of water to jumping in on the deep end within a few months.
My 4-year-old daughter has taken swim lessons at three other locations and never really wanted to go. Mr. Unique and Miss Erika are the only instructors she's had who she truly looks forward to seeing. Thanks to them, she's more confident in the water and is finally making real improvements. We couldn't be happier.
Coach James has been a wonderful force in creating a cohesive team that our kids want to participate in, and they've learned to work hard and have fun. Our family is thankful to have him at the head of the swim team.
Great experience! Swim teacher Beth is very attentive and Emma felt immediately comfortable with her.
It was a wonderful session
Communication to all members while scheduling changes. Offer more family swimming time when school is closed.
Help kids even when they're falling behind
I'm satisfied with the service and the communication is great!
Mr Unique and Eric are excellent instructors that keep kids engaged and make lessons fun while learning! Especially love the relays and friendy competition that Mr. Unique weaves into level 6 classes
Good, I recommend it for you
My kids enjoy coming to swimming lessons. Their instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. The pool is always clean.
The staff and coordinators
My son loves his swim lessons with Mr unique and miss Kelly. They go above and beyond making each child feel safe and special while teaching valuable water skills
I appreciated one on one attention my daughter got , and positive reinforcement to swim
Cost
What I like about my family's West Essex YMCA Aquatics experience is this: the water is clean and kept at a comfortable temperature. The swim lessons for all my children have helped them enjoy the pool more safely as their swimming skills improve. And the aquatics staff are always wonderful to engage with for all things aquatic.
The staff is amazing, they are helping my son to be a good swimmer!
The coaches are very good, the students enjoy and learn together.
Scheduling is a bit challenging. I would love a heads up directly from swim department if the classes are cancelled due to long weekend or any other issues instead of chasing down the swim instructor. Also, the bathrooms need some basic renovation at least
im hoping since summer camp is now over, the my son can go back to having two instructors during his class. It is hard for him and the other kids to focus when there is only one instructor for five children. All the instructors we have dealt with have been great so far
much better than before.
Our instructor, Kara. She provides a safe, encouraging environment with my daughter that allows her to gain confidence with water.
I was approved for financial aid and initially it was showing up in the system but now it is not. I reached out via email and haven't heard back. I know they they are going through some changes structurally and system wise. So I understand. I just hope I don't have to go through the process again to get approved. Sometimes the shower had no hot water but it was fine because this was during the summer. One of the things that bothered me the most overall was the summer camp. My children didn't like the summer camp at all, mainly because some of the counselors were often very rude and screamed at the kids. I know the counselors are often younger individuals who are just stepping into the professional world but I think better training on children facing orientation to work would be helpful. I have not been able to convince my kids to go back to this camp.
It's not a matter of would I recommend because I already do recommend. The program is organized and excellent the instructors are engaging and the instruction is valuable. My 2 daughters have been moving up through the program and they are progressing so well. The past year it has especially improved with the new management. I am very pleased. I look forward to signing up for next year in the next couple of weeks.
We love Coach James!
It's been a great experience having my 5 yr old learn to swim and progress through different levels with Ymca group lesson. Some of the instructors are very good. Quick question, I noticed a couple kids learn swimming with wet suit on. I'm not sure if it's helpful for leaning. Thanks Lixian
Instructors are very helpful
Communication is great. Erica is very patient with my child.
Swim instructor is great, scheduling of classes is also easy. The pool area can definitely use some upgrade. The facility though is in a poor condition, especially the bathrooms. They are quite old and rusty. My son uses it as there is no other option, but it's really in a bad shape. They should seriously consider upgrading the bathrooms while you are waiting for the new YMCA to be built.
It is been great, enrolling my son here, He is always eager to come for his classes
Aquatics group is excellent! Antonio and the rest of group are efficient and look out for your best interests. Swim team coaches also do a great job! Highly recommend!
Both my children had different teachers throughout the year, and we found that some were good, and some were not. Some are in the pool guiding the kids with a smile, while others only walk along the side of the pool and give instructions that the kids may or may not hear. One teacher was downright mean and just kept criticizing the students. This inconsistency makes it hard for me to recommend the swim lessons.
I like the pool size and the instructors
My children enjoy coming, the teachers are nice and helpful.
many times class started late or there weren't enough teachers. showed up for class and it was cancelled after my daughter had changed and was waiting for class to start. i didnt get refunded or a class rescheduled
They are patient and helpful to those that are a little bit behind
Coaches have been wonderful! My daughter has progressed so much faster here than with other swim programs. Facilities are clean. Total win!
Kids are not making any progress in the group swim lessons.. Teacher is not teaching the different styles and failing them in evaluation. teachers are not motivating the kids to do better.. My kid is in same level past 2 years…very bad service..
I think the instructors are great and the lessons are appropriate for the levels. I feel like they could move a little faster through the skills.
Great facilities and more importantly very competent coaches
Teaching children the basics
I am interested in private lessons, and I provided all the information. It says I will be contacted on the website, but it never happens
