The staffing and facility itself are great however what seems to be lacking and the reasoning for my mediocre rating is due to the lack of classes offered for aqua fit, aqua combat and aqua zumba not only at the Westside location but all San Antonio locations with pool amenities. I think offering more aqua classes and times would be WONDERFUL and would be a likely cause to reconsider recommending YMCA to others. I specifically attend the YMCA to swim and enjoy aqua fitness and to see the lack of classes being offered is very dissappointing.

Family atmosphere

Very clean, well air-conditioned, closer to home, I like the weights better here - the ones with the silver handles bc I have smaller hands

Classes are great and the location is in a community with need.

The staff needs to be present more in the weights room. Women like to get on machines and get on their phone but don’t work out. There are not enough machines to sit and have to wait for them to end their conversations.

The staff is always very helpful and welcoming, very friendly & the facility is always clean I just love it there!

Hot showers and good water temp for swimming and the young female manager is always very responsive

We enjoy the wide variety of options offered on weekday mornings to seniors, from exercise classes to a pool for low impact activities and a gym with multiple apparatuses and free weights for a complete body workout.

First of all you only have 1 Zumba class with 1 instructor. Veronica does Zumba as well & she is the best Gabby does intense Zumba most of the time I can't keep up because she is so fast I can't see the steps. Veronica on the other hand is at a normal pace, we dance laugh& have fun!! I can't keep follow her steps👍. Another thing I have been a member for years & never enjoy Agua Zumba after 5:30 I work but would love to enjoy aqua fit after work. I was diabetic in April 2025. I have since 8/28/25 reversed that & am no longer diabetic 🙏. So for years I could not participate due to my health. I really need the exercise now & would love to see Veronica instruct more Zumba classes.

This YMCA is friendly and has all the equipment I need. Maybe offer locks at the desk like other YMCA's in the area. When the gym is busy, there are limited machines.

Online schedules to be consistent with what this location offers, Create a consistent Senior Aquatic class need instructors for exercises and aquatic classes at this location versus online classes. Informative classes on topics like diabetes, blood pressure, personal finances, power of attorneys, wills, Senior scams, Senior fraud, Understanding Health coverages and Medicare and something different each month like movie day once a month for all age groups. To be transparent on what this Y offers and who and who cannot attend certain events. For example, attending a group called the ( Y group share) this event occurred early Summer held at this location which was printed in their monthly calendar not explaining what this group offered or who could and could not attend only finding out it was for selected participants only and not too sure if there was an extra fee paid also. Clear honest information on what's allowed and who can and cannot attend since everyone pays fees to participate at this Y to attend all events at this location. Thank you

I'm a first time member, recently joined. Every staff member that I met was very professional & so very welcoming! I joined on the spot ! My tour was exceptional & I felt right at home from that moment on. Thank You ! Shout out to Bobby ( front desk ) & Russ ( weight room ) for always being so courteous & helpful at the Westside location. They were the " face of the company " & they made Westside YMCA shine !!!! Good job !!

Have not started on any of the programs. Will call to schedule my attendance 3 days previous to session of interest as instructed. When I went to sign up, the staff was helpful, courteous, and informative about organization and sessions. I would like planning staff to consider having programs for Seniors not so late in afternoon. Will be more of a problem during fall and winter months whe it gets dark earlier in the afternoon. I understand planning staff takes into consideration multiple variables and requests to develop monthly program schedule. Seniors have particular needs.

signed up my grandson; Dyland Dysart for after school program starting one week after school starts. We are being charged a fee which is difficult to pay. Cassie is low income and bioplar and Dylan is autistic and on Social Security Disability program. Cassie has been with YMCA about 6 years . you can improve by evaluating families that are low income and disabled . thank you
