Very positive instructors and environment for the kiddos.
The staff was extremely patient, courteous and did an amazing job at instructing the children.
It would be better if there were fitness classes kids could take during weekday morning/afternoon hours for homeschoolers or a child watch for homeschool children 6-11 years old to go to during weekday morning/afternoon hours so parents can work out. I know there is a homeschool pe program but I hoped that our monthly membership would cover this cost.
I like that I say the same counselors and staff over and over and over. I like that after a while they really get to recognize your kid. I also enjoy that there's always something different going on.
Fun field trips that kept my kid wanting to go to camp and friendly staff. The crafts were cool and age appropriate
Friendliness of staff. Clean pool facilities.
Classes were cancelled and I was not told in advance. We showed up on Monday and were told no instructor that day and come back Tuesday. We shoes up Tuesday and were told no instructors the rest of the summer, we will get a refund. Apparently someone tried to call me but I don't have any missed calls, voicemails, texts or emails… it's 2025, it's not hard to get in touch with someone. My kids enjoyed the lessons and were disappointed not to have anymore.
Our lifeguard was immature. She would laugh a lot with any little thing our toddler would do. When we had a substitute, she was very mature and knowledgeable about teaching.
There are many different options, this makes it easier to find one that fits my schedule!
It was wonderful!! Thank you for the activity.
YMCA is not good. They sucks.
The swim instructors were switched too often . The instructors lacked experience and skill in teaching.
While I really appreciated the individual lessons both my children received from Monday through Wednesday the week of June 9th, our Thursday lesson was cancelled due to weather - we completely understand and appreciate the caution. I received a call that morning of the 12th and was told I would receive an email to reschedule. Upon receiving no email, I called on June 26th to inquire about a reschedule, and was given the name and email address of Joshua K. to request information. I immediately emailed him that day and have received no response. Again, on July 2nd I called the OP location and was told Joshua was not there, and to try the Thousand Oaks location to reach him. I contacted the Thousand Oaks location, and they indicated they would take a message for me and deliver it to the lifeguards to give to him directly. Still, I have received to call or email at this time - just about a month after our cancelled lessons. I had individual lessons for both my children, which means that one missed day is a considerable cost, and am very disappointed for the lack of communication. We have been doing swim lessons, and many other activities with the YMCA - but have felt communication and support lacking in the recent few months. I will likely not engage in swim lessons next summer.
I love how patient the instructor was. Very kind and helpful
The coaches that teaching my grandson how to swim are very good in teaching children how to swim.
staff wont let me reschedule my appointment
I am a YMCA member
Be firm with children and make sure to work on different techniques to ensure kids are always learning during practice.
The variety of children opportunities to participate with during the summer and the opportunities to stay engaged with healthy choices for adults.
The instructor was very patient and interacted with the little kids well while still maintaining authority and safety. She was also very pleasant and seemed to genuinely like what she was doing and being with the kiddos.
How involved the instructors are.
Easy to access. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Although I think that restroom at swim area need to be attended to, they are disgusting.
Swimming pool and splash pad. Friendly staff
It felt a little disorganized. I never heard my child's name called and felt like I had to go up to the front desk and ask. Also I signed up my daughter for a level 2 class and it morphed into a level one class? It was very unclear. The instructors also didn't seem to have a role sheet or anything like that. I will say both of my girls loved all their instructors. All their interactions with the instructors were very positive, and they gave my daughter's much needed confidence and improved skills.
The instructor was not knowledgeable enough and was teaching the wrong strategies. The use of a floatation device teaches the wrong muscle memory. She used an entire lesson to practice floating on the back. My expectation was a refresher from swimming from the previous year.
