The OP Branch has a welcoming atmosphere.
The perks of a ymca membership are amazing
The staff is always friendly and most helpful. I always feel very comfortable that I am surrounded by staff that are eager to assist genuinely helpful to me in meeting my goals towards bettering my overall health.
The facility is clean and bright, the staff is friendly and helpful.
It’s very family friendly. There are great classes for all ages.
It’s an incredible facility!
It's a great place to spend time with friends
The staff is generous and helpful. My son needed space to practice his martial arts and they had no issue with this. In fact, we've borrowed a couple of them as audience and everyone has been so supportive and wonderful. Even when they can't solve a problem, they are willing to make helpful suggestions to help make any situation better.
I love sports
Cursing, inappropriate coach. Challenging to communicate with leadership in a timely manner.
Great staff and teachers
Staff is professional and always offer positive encouragement.
I feel comfortable working out with like minded individuals. I feel welcome every time I come to workout. I love the scriptures on the wall! Very motivating!
Other teams coaches got in yelling fights. Games were cancelled due to weather and there were no make ups. Our kids were on a tiny field that shouldn’t even be considered a field.
We had another great season with the Y
ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNICATION HAS BECOME HORRIBLE. SEASON INFORMATION IS SENT OUT LAST MINUTE. GAME DAY CHANGES ARE SENT OUT LAST MINUTE. PRACTICE SCHEDULE CHANGES ARE NEVER COMMUNICATED. AGE LIMITS, ROSTER SIZES AND ACTUAL ROSTER VERIFICATION ARE NOT MONITORED. STAFF DOESN'T MONITOR PRACTICE TIMES AND COACHES ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO BE REMINDED OF WHEN THEY NEED TO END PRACTICE. OVERALL THERE HAS BEEN A STEADY DECLINE IN HOW THE YMCA HAS BEEN RUNNING ITS SPORT SEASONS. SEEMS IT STARTS AT THE TOP AND FOLLOWS ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO THE ON SITE STAFF.
We won’t be coming back. This was our 7th season with the Y and the worst one yet. The rules were never the same. The kids couldn’t learn the rules because they were different every game. We were kicked out after our last game and the kids couldn’t enjoy their time because of an altercation that started from another team. Do better.
The front desk staff are amazing. Our soccer coach was very nice and patient with the children. The Child Watch staff are excellent with children. My granddaughter loves to gi to Child Watch!
Staff are friendly, cheerful, & helpful! Feel welcomed and enjoy the classes & instructors.
Childcare is exceptional! Facilities have everything you need.
Not enough offered classes during childcare hours, infant childcare is very subpar and gives me more anxiety than peace of mind, extremely unresponsive to social media messages
Price is reasonable. Could really use an indoor lap pool like Potranco.
some of the “senior” classes fill up in less than 5 min on the app. maybe add another class in the other room for the overflow? or is the room in the other building larger?
I’ve been to other gyms and they don’t compare to this YMCA
I attended classes Monday thru Friday. Sometimes the classes are hard to get in because too many people want to participate. Perhaps you should add more classes for the popular ones.
I recommend the Y to all the moms I know, specifically the OP Schnabel Y, because they have the best child care staff and most nurturing environment for kids. I might spend 23 hours per day with my kids, but for 1 hour, I can come and focus on my own health and wellbeing.
Pickleball courts at OP Schanbel!!!!!!!
The staff genuinely seem happy to be there, which says a lot about the environment. I feel more comfortable going to this gym than any other gym I’ve been to before.
Community space is so important and valuable I’m very pleased having my family there and would recommend other families to join
I've had a great experience at the Y. Everyone is friendly and willing to help answer questions. I never feel like I'm being a bother or rushed. I love the Boot Camp class by Emily and Carolyn. They are phenomenal and are good instructors.
The questions in this survey are not asking the right questions. The equipment at the facility, although clean and mostly working, feels in adequate. There is only one or two ellipticals that I prefer that work. No stretching space. It is enough for me at the moment. But i will likely seek another gym when I am ready to transition to more out of my workouts. I feel like this is a bare bones facility.
I tell all my friends about y'all.
I love the community feel, friendly staff, & clean environment. I wish there were a few more class offerings. I really like the High Barre class & wish it were offered on Tuesday morning or afternoon, or even a Friday or Saturday.
Love the inclusive & family friendly atmosphere.
I appreciate the relaxed environment here with people who are kind, welcoming, and caring.
The Y is a great community - everyone is helpful, my kids love it, and it’s affordable.
not enough equipment, old equipment, broken equipment, do not offer enough variety for the afternoon classes. Membership is too high for what is being offered, compared to other gyms.
I LOVE the YMCA at OP Schnabel Park. Every single one of the employees that work there are very friendly and helpful. My school aged kids really like going there. The people at this YMCA have really given my kids a sense of community and belonging. They have great homeschool classes, tween nights, and parents night out. Even the other members are awesome!! We love it!!
Friendly and helpful staff.
The last two weeks my son’s soccer team has lost 12-0 and 11-0. The opposing teams have clearly been practicing 3 times a week for years based on their coordination and level of play. The majority of my son’s team are first timers who practice once a week. I didn’t sign him up to be practice fodder for a more experienced team looking to boost their self confidence at the expense of my son. This was not his experience in basketball but it certainly has been in soccer. You need to strive for parity more actively because my son (10) knows that an experienced team can beat an inexperienced team. That has so far been the extent of his learning. I suppose if I was the father of the other team(s) I might have a different viewpoint (and perhaps that is who you’re actually catering to).
Great classes and great employees
The sports director never returns emails or phone calls. It is difficult to reach out to anyone. The fields are full of ruts. We had a teammate break an arm. The fees stayed the same despite not getting a New Jersey each year. The New Jerseys are very thick and hot.
Double headers are tough, and Spring season is too short. Maybe 9-10 games or add a scrimmage; it won’t matter if we play the same team twice. That’s the only reason I rated it an 8. Other than that, great coaching and facilities. Thanks.
Lack of consistent communication, no real organization. We showed up day one and two and there was no structure to the game, our friends had to step up and coach because there were no coaches. I don’t understand why we paid for registration and uniforms when we could have coordinated a play date with our kids independently. This season has been ridiculous. On top of that, today’s game is cancelled for the weather but there’s been no communication of that. In fact, we received an email an hour ago stating that the game was still on. We only found out it was cancelled after calling in and asking. I grew up at the YMCA and had wonderful memories as a kid. I wish this space could provide the same for my own child, however, unfortunately that has not been the case.
Good gym overall. People are more considerate than Lifetime, staff is friendly, equipment is good overall. Some things that could be improved: AIRFLOW at the treadmills and cardio equipment!!, more handle attachments for cable machines (there's like one pair and sometimes they're missing), more tvs especially by the cardio (cheap, turn on closed captions, add channels to tune in to), bring back a few spin bikes (spin or warm up for lifting).
Expand available fitness programs to include pickle ball, which is a sport enjoyed by many age groups. Expand facilities to accommodate the increase in demand for children’s and adult services and needs, so that one group is not disadvantaged over the other. A capital campaign is certainly in order for OP Schnabel and is long overdue. Immediate thought is to expand and close on the patio area with a climate controlled environment so that it can bu used for fitness classes or children’s programs.
Nice park and facility
My wife and I both love coming to our Y, we use the gym multiple times a week and we can't wait for the splashpad/pool to open for the summer. Our kids loved it last year. We've recommended a membership to my Dad and several other friends.
Front desk always happily greets me as I walk in. May not know my name but they always acknowledge me. I only go for body combat with Angela Bowyer (or a sub when she is out) but travel from downtown just for her class. She is incredibly motivating and makes sure we all have a terrific calorie burning workout. She is THE BEST!
This has been a better experience than with some other groups we have tried in the past. He likes that he has a game every weekend where he can apply what he practiced.
