The staff at CBY are amazing. I really enjoy the atmosphere and being recognized and acknowledged by the people who work there.
My mental health and anxiety have always prevented me from participating in almost every organized activity. The YMCA and their employees are constantly working with me and provide me ways to participate fully at my pace and consider my limitations.
The swim programs that Sadie is currently enrolled in are far superior to the same programs she was enrolled in at Bostwick. Her swim instructor Zavier is great, the girls really like him and are learning so much. Great job Zavier
Aquatics specifically : Length of the program, check-ins and check-outs for kids safety, seating bench at the end, size of the group, number of life guards etc for oversight. Centre Branch in general : friendly + helpful staff, downtown location, it's so important for the community
The instructors are terrible for the little kids
Th Swimable program is amazing and great that it is offered to people who may not be able to join in the classes as a group.
Best thing of the programs are all professional trainers and very accommodating. Interacting with them will help you learn and brings out the best in you. Never miss out in the opportunity provided n given to you. Make the best of it and stay healthy.
Its not as busy as other ymcas and the kids like it
Staff are very dedicated and helpful
Best
Always lots of fun for the kids and adults too
I live mostly, the activities offered such us the steaming, jacuzzi, biking, the swimming lessons for the seniors the machine and stretching.
I love the YMCA, and the center branch location is great. I wish there was more funding to make it how it was back in the 90 with more activities and programs for children.
The teacher DK is amazing. Very patient with children. My son loves swimming classes here.
Love all the swim activities, the explanation of all the courses and instructors are awesome
Nice pool, staff are friendly.
Facilities are in need of repair. Other than that I am happy with swimming lessons. Bella and Isabella have been wonderful instructors to my two boys.
I wasn't able to register my children for the last session because of the pool closure.
Disappointed in the long-term pool closure and cancellation of swim lessons
Better training for instructors. We are only in parent/tot and I'm sure the actual swimming lessons are great. We had one teacher, Isabella, who was fantastic. We have a new teacher who literally just has the kids sing itsy bitsy spider 6 times (I kid you not, this is not an exaggeration), then stares at the clock and asks us when it will end.
We had participated in city programming through recreation settings. When compared, the "curriculum" at the Y was quite disappointing. While I understand that programming is geared towards getting children comfortable in the water, singing the same 5 songs week after week with no real progression in skills (ex. Blowing bubbles in the water, trying to float on your back, etc). Unfortunately we were disappointed, and though it was free because we have daycare through the Y, we will likely go back to paying for swim lessons through the Y.
This Branch seems to have difficulty with the aquatics programming. Back in the summer, we had our lifeguarding Camp canceled the day that we showed up. It took months to get a refund, which I only got after I asked for it. With the recent closure of the pool, my children find themselves without extra curricular activities now until the new year. The Universal change room is absolutely appalling. There is not a lock on a single door. The Center branch is in desperate need of some tlc.
The pool has not been available for swimming lessons for my child. There were multiple promises made without suggestions about where we could take our children for lessons. There were suggestions about aquatic programs and such but not for children's swimming lessons.
The center branch is old and needs work. I pay my membership but still can't use the pool. I'm not offered a discount.
My adult swimming class is the best. Looking forward to when the big pool will reopen and classes can resume.
We tried to cancel our membership an over year and a half ago, then forgot about it. As we had only used it to register for swim classes, we didn't realize it would automatically renew. Cancelling was not available in the Avocado portal, and emails went unanswered. We are not able to utilize any programming other than a few weeks of day camp. We decided to sign up again for swimming lessons this year, and now have had them all cancelled due to the broken pool. There is no guarantee of a spot in a program for next term, no schedule for make up classes, and no offer for financial compensation. Once we figure out how to actually cancel our membership, it is unlikely that we will renew unless these issues get resolved. Rebecca Ashworth
Helps non swimmers a lot and exercise
The whirlpool was broken for months, fixed for weeks and then broken again. Now the large pool isn't available I joined for the pool.
1, More activities swimming 2. Attention to parents how to do things in a correct way 3. Water temperature suitable for toddlers 4. Punctuality
I like Centre branch more than any other branch because of the staff, equipment & programs it offers & not being over crowded. Would recommend this to anyone anyday! 10/10. Thanks.
Let the kids have activities instead of playing tablets
Help describe the classes for specific levels and recommend to facilitators how to help learners achieve their milestones
Some of the tutors are way better than others
Change rooms could be warmer. Instructors could be more consistent; some seem to be trained better than others.
The groups are small and intrusions offered at convenient times.
I love the friendy coach that my son got for his fist time summing lesson. Max was so patience and understanding about my son's fear for water. I ca not thank him more for his help.
I love Wednesday nights (when my 6 year old isn't sick) we go to swim lessons which is a great skill for everyone to learn. Then we go to the treehouse & had to do an earlier swim session thus season cuz my little can play in there for HOURS. Please don't ever change that treehouse unless adding to it. All the parents love it that I've spoken to as well
I think both my Sons have Isabella as their instructor this session. She is excellent. We hope to get her again.
Swimming
Small class forbids swim lessons staff always polite
Better communication with the parents about the child's individual needs/ what the instructors can/ are permitted to do to help the children achieve their goals during lessons
The personalized attention from staff - absolutely top quality amazing service
Friendly staff, great availability of programming, positive and encouraging environment
Everything done at YMCA is perfect with no comments at all
It's great. Thank you.
That they are great we've been members of the Wife for 16 years and always have chooses center branch
The instructors are great and my son always looks forward to going.
The pools are bigger for kids and need more openning for open swim during the week
The friendly staff and the availability of the programs help me keep my kids active and safe in the water.
The instructors are great as well as the overall facility, but there are some caveats; the men's change room is incredibly cold and could use some general repairs. Feels like getting changed in a concrete garage. The pool is also quite cold, but bearable. Despite this, both my boys (2 and 5 years old) LOVE swimming at the YMCA. The kids playroom in what used to be a squash court is also a big hit with my boys. Thank you
