Clean facility, not usually too busy, and friendly staff and volunteers.
Membership price is too high. :(
I'm very happy with the facility, the staff and the variety of exercise options.
The Y provides a great environment for physical activity and socializing. It's needed in the community.
I have been a Men’s Plus member since the Centre Branch Y opened in the early eighties. Since then, there has been a steady decline in services (towel services, newspapers, TV on equipment and in lounge, etc.), cleanliness (particularly change room floors and lockers) and amenities like tissues, hand lotions, shampoo, deodorant, etc. There is nothing “plus” about the Men’s Plus anymore. The operating hours have been reduced as well as the days open. All this while the prices have increased. Difficult for me to recommend to friends and family.
a bunch of us stay at the Y as we use the Men's plus and enjoy it, but it has failed to meet any expectations but poor - things do not work, and it is always a member's fault for wrecking something. Not sure of the solution, but hopefully things will change Jeff Miller
clean, good volunteers, great mg't, amazing mens+ hot tub
Community feeling at CBY
I really enjoy the fitness classes. They challenge me, the instructors are fantastic and being a member creates a sense of community.
The staff are wonderful and friendly and it’s a grear community.
Friendly staff and members, always a positive experience
y---needs to be open stat holidays---@ one time y was only close two stat throughout the year---christmas and good friday
I enjoy the swimming pool and the variety of Aquafit classes and instructors. It is also nice to be able to have shower and get cleaned up for the day.
I really love it, but I know it’s not for everyone. I am a bit disappointed with how frequently the women’s sauna is out of order, the change room ceiling is peeling and the whole place lacks natural light. But I know the renovation is coming and I prefer to support your organization than some private corporation. It’s familiar, comfortable, welcoming and a little rough around the edges. I’m happy to support and be a member.
It’s not a ten just because I had several items stolen from the women’s adult locker room a few months ago as well as a pair of safety goggles for pickleball, taken from the gym. No item was at the lost and found
There always seems to be something not working in Men's plus changing room.
Great gym but the price is a little expensive
The staff is friendly and welcoming. I wish the sauna in the women’s plus would be repaired. I prefer this facility over Startech
Incredible staff with a client first focus.
More cleaning staff and cleaning completed regularly.
Goo90d equipment, friendly staff and members.
Staff are excellent, location convenient to me, pool is great, and loving the new snack bar, which opens just as I am leaving, great to grab a coffee and snack after a hard swim
Great fitness room with decent equipment and an excellent change room facility with a hot tub, sauna and steam room.
Would like more senior programs. I think the main area needs more colour. Cafe a little expensive for a lot of people that use the Y. LOVE Wellspring being there. You are great at supplying your facilities for Wellspring. Staff is great
The parking has greatly improved due to parking passes but it is not effective unless the parking lot above and below are presented as being monitored. I could be wrong but Ive noticed the parking availability becoming less and less. It makes me think possibly some ppl are aware that the lots are possibly not being monitored. I see cars parked in the lot without their parking pass displayed. Perhaps members shd provide license plates to the Y. Then if a member forgets to hang their pass they can be sent a friendly reminder. In closing, if members are unable to find parking this is a deterrent to attending Centre Branch imo. I love my centre branch and the staff but for me there are two determining factors to keep me at CB and that's parking and a functioning women's hot tub. I rely on the hot tub for leg therapy. Other than that I'm satisfied with CB!
Your schedule is never up to date, especially for the pool. Today, lane swim scheduled for 7 to 8:30pm but judging by the speed of tge swimmers and the size of lanes, a club monopolized the pool. A few weeks earlier you kicked people out of the open swim for life guard training, despite the deep pool being available. At that time, you had on your website open/family swim that Sunday from 9 to 1. Since then the schedule was changed. There are rarely any towels ready for + members. Once I was told that some would be brought down. They weren't. What makes this frustrating is that it is difficult to find time to work out, and with my knee joints the way they are I need the pool. But you are not dependable enough. Instead, I have travel an extra 15 minutes to go to Startech. To be honest, the only reason you get a 2 is because you have some good, and patient swimming instructors there.
Close to home, not busy during the day which is great for me because I'm retired, tidy, great equipment & super staff ;-) Thanks !
I get that a swipe card system would freeze up in the winter but what about just flashing the card at the gate. A sensor light should be ok in winter. Twice we've had to park on the road as no parking. I did notice that hardly anyone has their tag on the rear-view mirror & no one is actually monitoring the cars.
I swim laps at the pool. I used to go to the gym and the equipment is excellent. I might go back again over the winter to use the cycle machines. The staff/employees are doing a great job. They are very helpful and kind. Their friendly and positive attitude and support is great. It's good to see You Made It Cafe is now open. The food is good and provides a sense of community for everyone.
Central Y has a steam room, sauna and hot tube. Amazing!
Nice place and nice team.
I am happy that the Y leadership has announced a commitment to the Centre Branch but since then no improvements have been made to the equipment (except new treadmills). The weight room is filled with old and insufficient equipment, carpets that stink, leaking roofs, etc. Fresh paint in the lobby is nice but we need real investment in newer, improved and better equipment asap!
Ask Travis.
The machines in the workout area beside the bikes could be in more consistent good repair.
Parking availability is still a problem. It would be nice to see it become less crowded
I like going to the Y for the friends I have made and the warm welcome that I get when I arrive. It is a safe place to be and meets my needs to keep fit and enjoy doing it.
I attend for programs through Wellspring.
I choose to continue to use the Central Y for the programs and community ..but this is despite the challenges of downtown location, high monthly fees and limited parking. When I speak to friends about the option of a Y membership I realize that these hurdles deter them signing up.
The receptionists are very friendly - even at 6am! And I love that I can get complimentary towels! It's clean, never over-crowded and the hours for lane swimming are generous. Keep up the great work!
The staff are lovely. Elise Bomberry loves her swim instructor Luis and the TL Emily is always so welcoming to us all! The membership team has spent the time to learn my name and will always say hi and ask about my day! I love the community feel of the Y!
I am so grateful for the membership and all the activities that Wellspring offers to cancer patients. Great place! Friendly staff at both Y and Wellspring.
I have submitted a letter of complaint to head office.
the standard of cleanliness could be improved, and more supervision of the parking lot to ensure it's used only by members
The hot tub, sauna and steam room. Jodie is a great personal trainer.
Environment the amount of people care it could use some support for becoming more accessible for those of us with special needs such as push buttons much better with a parking spots for those with accessible passes as well as just lay out so that people with special needs can still access the same services in at least some form of fashion with dignity as opposed to must using different changes or traveling to different areas to be able to access the same services
Friendly and free parking
Good
Everyone is welcome!
The women's plus showers sometimes has a pretty foul odour. The lane swim schedule, while a little better right now, is often quite restrictive.
If you need to stay alive you need to be going to the Y
