I really like the YMCA, and I genuinely want to see it succeed because I live in the neighborhood and value having this facility in my community. However, I rated my likelihood of recommending the YMCA a 5 out of 10 because of an ongoing issue with access to the basketball courts.
As an avid basketball fan who uses the sport as a primary way to stay active and maintain my fitness, I find it difficult to take advantage of this benefit. I work from 6 AM to 6 PM, which leaves me with limited time to use the facility, and the courts are reserved for youth sports programs virtually every day, including during the hours when I am available.
I fully support the youth programs and understand the importance of providing opportunities for young people. However, I also believe that paying members deserve reasonable access to the facilities included in their memberships. I would strongly encourage the YMCA to consider designating at least two evenings per week when the basketball courts are available for general member use after 5 PM.
I want to continue supporting the YMCA and paying my $80 monthly membership, but it is difficult to justify the cost when I cannot consistently access one of the primary amenities I joined to use. I would gladly recommend the YMCA more confidently if this issue were addressed. I believe there is a way to support youth programming while also ensuring that adult members receive the value and access they are paying for. I hope this feedback is taken constructively because I want to see the YMCA thrive and remain a valuable resource for our entire community.
I may have lucked out because it’s late season but the lessons and small classes really allow for good attention to each child.
need more equipment, at least one more olympic bench and one more multi-squat rack plus kettlebells and an extra set of dumbells in the light range (10-40 pounds). Staff seems very lovely, and the facilities are well-kept. It is much nicer than it was pre-refresh. Good job!
Communication regarding paid youth sports has been sparse.
I LOVE MY EAST SIDE Y.M.C.A, 🥰.
The Y staff and the people who I've met at Davis-Scott are wonderful people! I drive about 25 minutes to come to Davis-Scott!
Marvin and staff make you feel like your family
Keep the men’s locker room cleaner
The Monday Line Dancing class was cancelled without discussion, notification, or specific and truthful reason. They are different excuses that have floated around. The cancellation of the class has been very disappointing because being a senior member learning dance steps is one of the best ways to exercise the mind. This is specifically the reason I began attending Davis-Scott. I find this treatment has been rude and disrespectful. This matter has been a topic of discussion among other members. I am not the only person that feels this way.
The new women's locker room is ample and well organized with accessible stalls to accommodate all individuals including senior citizens. I like the swimming pool 9 ft depth with its shallow end on the other side.
I visited this location for the first time and was very disappointed. It is nothing like the locations I have been to before, which include: Tripoint, Mission, and Schertz. Davis Scott, which is on the East Side, is run-down. I wanted to use the sauna, but I was told it never works. It hasn't worked for several months, and there is no time to repair it. It is a very small location with few good options for group exercise, and the equipment is aged. It's very sad that this is the condition for a YMCA location the East side of our city. I do not plan to return, much less recommend it.
Very friendly staff and community.
Everytime I walk in staff greets me. I was able to do some work at the lobby tables while my son practiced. It is a clean, friendly WELCOMING environment. There’s a little girl, a sister of my sons’ teammate. She is nonverbal and plays in the lobby. Everyone is respectful, considerate. Staff - EVERY one - treat her kindly, hospitably, and never give any indication that she is a bother or weird. I want to be in a place that is SO CONSISTENTLY hospitable and friendly to ALL.
The staff is always friendly and this location has a wonderful community feel.
Siempre estan dispuestos a ayudar y el idioma no es una barrera. Gracias por su servicio.
I really like the facility and I will definitely recommend it to anyone who is able to go. The people are friendly to everyone, and there is a strong sense of community, whether you are a regular or just visiting. However it seems to me that Davis Scott gets ignored and has less resources compared to other facilities in a different tax bracket. Davis Scott does the best with what little resources they are given. Pay your employees a living wage. There is a huge discrepancy between the lowest paid employee and the CEO of a "non profit" this is not right. Also, please quit hiring a bunch of people part time and just hire people full time and give them good benefits. We all know that is done so you don't have to pay benefits. For being a Christian-Judeo centered organization that's not very righteous.
Need to stay open later, and needs a steam room and sauna
The swim instructors are great! Pool has some age maintenance issues, but rescheduling was fairly easy.
workout area is nice and clean and improved since my last visit; but small. Need another bench and another set of dumbells
Nice facility with adequate/decent equipment. Haven't taken advantage of classes yet but I would love to see more evening pilates and yoga offerings.
I want to commend the Davis Scott staff. Every time I have had a class and it cancelled they call and advise it is cancelled before I drive over there. I always take aqua classes, the lifeguards are always willing to help out with the class if needed. The aqua instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. I generally follow the aqua classes to each Y so I can attend as many times as possible. They have made such a huge difference in my health, I appreciate the evening classes.
Friendly staff. They have a great indoor pool and exercise room.
I like the Water Aerobics classes, and the gym equipment available.
Non Professional Staff and Pool Temperature is usaually Cold and Broken Heater..,
The pool heater is always broken so that makes it hard to enjoy the pool. I haven't been the pool for 1 month due to the constant pool repairs. I don't understand haw the heater parts keep breaking.
