Communication regarding paid youth sports has been sparse.
I LOVE MY EAST SIDE Y.M.C.A, 🥰.
The Y staff and the people who I've met at Davis-Scott are wonderful people! I drive about 25 minutes to come to Davis-Scott!
Marvin and staff make you feel like your family
Keep the men’s locker room cleaner
The Monday Line Dancing class was cancelled without discussion, notification, or specific and truthful reason. They are different excuses that have floated around. The cancellation of the class has been very disappointing because being a senior member learning dance steps is one of the best ways to exercise the mind. This is specifically the reason I began attending Davis-Scott. I find this treatment has been rude and disrespectful. This matter has been a topic of discussion among other members. I am not the only person that feels this way.
The new women's locker room is ample and well organized with accessible stalls to accommodate all individuals including senior citizens. I like the swimming pool 9 ft depth with its shallow end on the other side.
I visited this location for the first time and was very disappointed. It is nothing like the locations I have been to before, which include: Tripoint, Mission, and Schertz. Davis Scott, which is on the East Side, is run-down. I wanted to use the sauna, but I was told it never works. It hasn't worked for several months, and there is no time to repair it. It is a very small location with few good options for group exercise, and the equipment is aged. It's very sad that this is the condition for a YMCA location the East side of our city. I do not plan to return, much less recommend it.
Very friendly staff and community.
Everytime I walk in staff greets me. I was able to do some work at the lobby tables while my son practiced. It is a clean, friendly WELCOMING environment. There’s a little girl, a sister of my sons’ teammate. She is nonverbal and plays in the lobby. Everyone is respectful, considerate. Staff - EVERY one - treat her kindly, hospitably, and never give any indication that she is a bother or weird. I want to be in a place that is SO CONSISTENTLY hospitable and friendly to ALL.
The staff is always friendly and this location has a wonderful community feel.
Siempre estan dispuestos a ayudar y el idioma no es una barrera. Gracias por su servicio.
I really like the facility and I will definitely recommend it to anyone who is able to go. The people are friendly to everyone, and there is a strong sense of community, whether you are a regular or just visiting. However it seems to me that Davis Scott gets ignored and has less resources compared to other facilities in a different tax bracket. Davis Scott does the best with what little resources they are given. Pay your employees a living wage. There is a huge discrepancy between the lowest paid employee and the CEO of a "non profit" this is not right. Also, please quit hiring a bunch of people part time and just hire people full time and give them good benefits. We all know that is done so you don't have to pay benefits. For being a Christian-Judeo centered organization that's not very righteous.
Need to stay open later, and needs a steam room and sauna
The swim instructors are great! Pool has some age maintenance issues, but rescheduling was fairly easy.
workout area is nice and clean and improved since my last visit; but small. Need another bench and another set of dumbells
Nice facility with adequate/decent equipment. Haven't taken advantage of classes yet but I would love to see more evening pilates and yoga offerings.
I want to commend the Davis Scott staff. Every time I have had a class and it cancelled they call and advise it is cancelled before I drive over there. I always take aqua classes, the lifeguards are always willing to help out with the class if needed. The aqua instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. I generally follow the aqua classes to each Y so I can attend as many times as possible. They have made such a huge difference in my health, I appreciate the evening classes.
Friendly staff. They have a great indoor pool and exercise room.
I like the Water Aerobics classes, and the gym equipment available.
Non Professional Staff and Pool Temperature is usaually Cold and Broken Heater..,
The pool heater is always broken so that makes it hard to enjoy the pool. I haven't been the pool for 1 month due to the constant pool repairs. I don't understand haw the heater parts keep breaking.
It's in my neighborhood community and easy to access and close to my home.
YMCA location is great. Only complaint is making the basketball league co-ed this season. Boys dominate on the girl every time and it takes a toll on their confidence.
I had a good experience. Enjoyed playing and working with team and coach Sara
I love the geoup exercise programs and the sessions thst are held for seniors and kids for holidays. The staff is very supportive.
Love the sculpting and pool classes
I have been waiting for a refund for almost a month for this season of basketball ball for Aiden Galindo. Please reach out to me at 2103781620. Nobody has returned my phone calls or emails regarding this matter.
There was a error on sign up that I was never given an explanation about, and given the error I would have liked an explanation. Prices are not competitive, and they close too early not to mention not being open on Sundays.
The youth basketball league, the referee would enforce the rules on some teams and not others. Was informed by the coach that one referee in particular held grudges against his team. Allowing the other team to steal and block when there is not stealing about blocking, rewarding the opposing team with the ball after we got fouled.
My wife and I were very pleased with the friendly, supportive staff of Davis-Scott branch of the San Antonio YMCA, and we would especially like to credit Coach Shawn Marshall for making our 11-year old son's basketball experience outstanding. Winter 2026 was the first season our son ever played on an organized basketball team. Coach Shawn knows a lot of basketball, and a lot about life. He was truly outstanding with the kids. He supported them and built them up, and also pushed them just the right amount to become better basketball players, better teammates, and most importantly- better young people. Coach Shawn Marshall personifies the YMCA mission- my wife and I are so grateful for him and his positive influence on our son.
I love this place!!
The experience of going to the Davis-Scott YMCA is fantastic. The staff are wonderful and friendly. Everything is always clean and well-organized. I love using my app to reserve my spots. It's a genuine positive experience every day. And at the end, I enjoy my walk in the park behind the YMCA, with the amazing view of downtown San Antonio from the top of Pittman-Sullivan Park. It truly is a wonderful experience!
Program has gone down hill. Respect is being lost. Kids aren't having fun.
Get better reffs, they fould some off teammates out that only left us to play w 4 players in the last 3 minutes, the reffs were not calling out anything on the other team and the kids on that team were pulling, shoving and grabbing our teammates shirts w the reffs seeing it and calling it.
I like Scott Davis YMCA bc the coaches are adamant about coaching the little ones which make parents feel satisfied. Their staff is always helpful as well!!!
The pool was shut for months & months and still the women's & men's locker rooms are like a freezer in the winter! This is cruel to the elderly population & those who just don't enjoy it! Also the pool is still cold! Shut the upper windows on cool nights maybe? The pool was 82 this morning. The pool should be maintained at a comfortable 86. Very disappointed in upper management. The ones that are never around & sit behind a desk never having to experience these issues.
Sucked be better coordinated better jerseys
Next season I think we'd just prefer to not put out son on a team where the coach had kids on the team. It was a very unfair system and other kids were being told the give the coaches children the ball all game. So it felt as though our kids were just supporting the coaches children the whole team. As well as during practice the children would hit and yell at our kids but all while being watched but then they would run to their dad and he would get on the other children opposed to his kids who were hitting and trying to boss the other kids around.
Good Enviroment
Given the quarters of the basketball game are already short, Im in disbelief that the game clock doesn't stop for free throws. 1/8 of the game, is spent standing around watching a kid air ball free throws. We are here to watch our kids play basketball. Please dont waste our time and money. If yall insist that the clock run during free throws, then speed up the free throw process (when a kid barely steps over the line don't redue the free throw and waste more of our time). And don't call so many shooting fouls. Lastly, when I ask yall who do I speak to about this, dont just say Ted. The girl I spoke to has some issues going and tried to act like I was talking down to her, I was always polite and just wanted to know who I should talk to. First she said the "front" , then she said Ted. When I said Ted who, she turned on me and started giving a lecture on how Im talking. Felt like I was talking to a fragile little flower. Of course I didn't tell her that. Can't believe she talked to me like that because I asked who I should talk to. Many witnesses. She seemed to want to escalate things, more disbelief, hence why I walked away while she continued to lecture me, about what?, wish I knew.
Less mistakes on creating teams and less foul calls from refs. It ruins the game and makes it boring. My team in the fall YMCA leauge was just supposed to have our friends in it but YMCA added 3 random people we didn't know into it.
Family friendly, easily accessible.
The programs are well organized
There is a swimming pool, I would like to take some classes in the near future for me and my son, also has a fall basketball and I'm looking forward to the winter basketball season, looking forward to more activities
Group exercises
The hours on the pool family swim. The gyms time is very limited, Saturday is closed early and Sunday is closed. I do like the ymca. I do recommend it. 😃
The staff is great. There are just not enough weight machines for me to be able to complete my workout. The strength training areas are also closed off from the front desk and dimly lit. I don't love that either. Because of this, I go to the DR Semmes location even though David Scott is closer to my house. I do appreciate the pool at Davis Scott and plan to take advantage of some pool time or classes on my non-work out days. I will also volunteer at this location.
Training staff at the front desk. Each individual who assisted was pleasant and nice. However, they did not understand the entirety of the process of changing from a duo account to a family account. 1st attempt the individual contacted another YMCA - I believe corporate was contacted - at any rate, I was told everything was taken care of. However, I received a phone call because I needed to sign paperwork 2nd attempt: I went to the YMCA to sign the paperwork - I completed the paperwork and provided the necessary information and again everything was suppose to be good. However, when I tried to add my son to the app - it did not work. 3rd attempt: I phone the YMCA to determine the issue. I provided information regarding my son and daughter. The individual stated that a phone call was made because my son had to bring in an ID and additional paperwork had to be signed. My son went to the YMCA, provided the necessary information and now everything is correct. Note; The website showed everyone's name but it was still listed as a duo account vs family.
I only use the pool.
