I apologize I forgot the young lady’s name, my instructor, she was excellent and I truly felt I was swimming for the first time in my life and I’m an older adult…
. p.s. after open gym before a class, there is significant amount of trash left behind by the teens, unfortunate and unacceptable. p.s.s. fix the clock in the gym!
Extend the time to 45mn it’s short specially if there are more kids
Everyone are extremely nice at this Y and Aquatics program. Our kids have benefit a lot from the swimming lessons. We are very grateful.
Great facility- clean
The program is ok. Cleanliness seems to be a bit of an issue.
My daughter is delighted with her swimming lessons
It is a great program!!
Los dedicados que son profesionalmente responsables
¡Claro! Aquí va todo junto: Clearly, the teacher has no intentions of developing skills or improving techniques in my children. She only wants to stick to the program and survive the 30 minutes of class. I've been very patient because the quality of the classes has clearly been declining. But this will be the last time I pay for classes for my two children, because I consider it already a waste of money. It's worth noting that my older daughter, who is six years old, has been in class with you since she was one. And I will make sure that the other parents around me know the quality of the programs offered at this establishment.
We had a great experience taking swim lessons with our 1 and 3 year old. All of the instructors we had on Sunday mornings were amazing- Ferris, Jade, Trey (and one other instructor whose name I don't remember) made sure our kids felt comfortable in the water and went out of their way to be kind, caring, and patient with our kids. The instructors did a great job and the pool is always nice and warm! My only feedback is that I would love to see a parent-child class and Level 0 class option on a weekday afternoon. I wanted to sign up for the next session but had a conflict with weekend mornings. Otherwise we had a great experience and hope to take swim lessons again at a later session.
Jade (Sundays at 11) is a patient, kind instructor that is doing great with our toddler. Our kiddo is nervous about jumping under the water and Jade makes her more comfortable each week. We reenrolled in her class for next session.
The Sunday 11AM class is too busy and the teachers don't have enough time to work with all the kids. There were days where my son did one thing during the whole class, and another day where he was assigned to the wrong class until I intervene. The classes are not cheap, there should be a max number of kids per session (not only per level, but per time slot) to avoid the pool being so busy.
Teachers should start class on time. They certainly end them on time.
Love the instructors! They are so patient and amazing with the kids, even the ones who aren't a fan of the water.
Brandon is a wonderful coach! I'm grateful for these swimming lessons.
I think lessons should be longer but I don't think that's in the cards. All around good experience for my kids.
How great the instructors are with my kids.
Aun no se mucho soy nueva. Pero si me parece bueno lo poco que se . No tengo mucha información sobre los programas. Mi hija le gusta ir a natación, me gusta como dan las clases.
Communication and having the same instructor where possible to help kids feel more comfortable.
We've been really happy with lessons so far, sometimes there are too many kids per instructor so they don't get as much time to practice in a 30 min lesson. Overall, this has only been our experience a few times over doing multiple sessions.
Lots of options for days and hours
They are easy to access including ample parking and available lockers.
My son takes swimming my lessons, and the instructors have been great! One thing that they changed is that all the classes are now at one time. I don't like the change because the pool is VERY crowded.
Talented trainers
I love YMCA
Instructors are wonderful as is Ashley! Mimi is really developing her swimming skills. And the Sunday morning option is so convenient for our family.
My daughter is happy with her swimming class
I would like to have more access to swim . But globally it's good area to have all activities
The staff are amazing, so patient and gentle with my daughter
The facilities are excellent and the instructors are patient, friendly, and flexible. Swim class is the highlight of our weekend!
Our instructor on Sundays at 9:40 is lovely. Our fearful 3 year old son trusts her very much. She is lovely.
All coach are great, very passionate!
Very friendly and great place
My son was very scared and the very young instructor did not help much to comfort him and make him feel safe. She was nice but no skills for that type of situation and he was just afraid not even a big deal. We had to leave.
I appreciate that the instructors are very patient, Sarah is particularly great! I feel very confident learning with.
We have been on and off members of the Y for the last three years. We started with family membership and then I just had a membership for my children for swimming lessons and other programs. What I love is the the amount of classes that are offered. My biggest area for improvement is the level of consistency among the swim program. My son has been in the swim program for the last three years (on and off). The reason why we have paused at times is because of the level of consistency with swim instructions and ensuring he is progressing. In particular over the course of the last year, I think he has had a different instructor almost every class. This was feedback that I also provided last spring and then ultimately did not enroll him again until this current winter program. I signed him up again this year and ultimately feel we are in a similar position. He has attended 4 weeks so far and has three different teachers. Only one of the teachers has provided feedback after the class. As it stands now I don't think he will be returning to swim lessons again at the Y. I think the value he is getting out of it is that he is with a friend and not the actual instruction. I will be looking to signing my daughter up since she is just starting but honestly if we ends up having a different teacher each week then I will likely pull her as well and look elsewhere.
I was hopeful things were going to change this next session with consistency and standardization across classes and instructors. but, the instructors don't seem to want to be there. My children were just in a class with 3 instructors and 5 kids. Two of the instructors chatted in the pool the whole time and one of them was doing everything. My kids spent most of the time on the steps doing nothing, and each kid in the class was itching to do and learn more. Demakes has some of the most expensive swimming lessons around— of other YMCA's and other swim programs. But the quality of the instruction is not reflective of the price point and I know a lot of families that have left because of it. The pool is beautiful but I wish that families were getting stronger instruction for what we are paying.
Instructors being more attentive to the swimmer not the other instructors or guards. As well knowing what time the class starts and ends.
Longer classes (45 mins?), longer terms, could it be three months or six months? Instead of one month at a time. All that said - it's great for my kids, they have been loving swim lessons.
The instructors are very professional and are very skilled
Takes too long to be on wait list for gymnastics classes and no one calls to give feedback if classes are open.
The beginner swimming lessons pack a lot of punch. There are great instructors there to guide you through getting comfortable in the water to breathing exercises, all the way to learning how to get the fundamentals of swimming strokes down. Brendan and Sarah are phenomenal at their job, breaking down each part of learning a stroke in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice. Excellent work!
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Wonderful place for families!
I have been going to the swimming class for so long and my daughters are still in the same level. The instructors are always talking to each other and don't the 30 min goes by so fast that they only to so little. (Not all of them, but mostly) and some other are always checking the clock. I' m unfortunately taking my kids somewhere else
Classes back on Mondays and Tuesdays would be helpful, along with Sundays. Now that the school year is up and running we have less opportunity to take a class because of other activities.
The instructors are very knowledgeable and patient in helping us with the activities
Every week you get a different instructor and the new ones have no idea how to teach young children. I think her name is Jess and my daughter doesn't want to sign up again if she will be the teacher
The facility is really nice and the instructors were great. Registration is confusing as it's on a different cycle than the other Ys, but was fine once figured out.
Swim coaches are really good patient snd went out of the way to feel the kids feel important
1. The lesson NEVER starts on time (a minimum 10-min delay is standard) therefore the lesson is in reality rather 15 or 20 minutes, never 30. 2. The organization is chaotic, the staff and lifeguards are at the beginning of each lesson disorganized and struggling to understand what to do with what group. 3. The swimming instructors have minimal experience with handling small children - 80% of the time the children are confused about what to do and are just waiting for their turn, shivering. Many of them are ignored completely. 4. Due to the general chaos, if a child was drowning or struggling, there is a high chance, nobody would notice. 5. I tried to request private lessons for my autistic son and the assistant director present told me "Just send us an email". I never heard back. Even when I reminded him personally, the answer was "I just didn't have time". All in all, I like YMCA Lynn and the facilities but the swimming lessons are a total disaster and I would discourage everyone from subscribing.
