All around a great experience

I specifically scheduled this appointment because I am new to having a beard and wanted to have it professionally shaped. This wasn't just something I decided to add while I was there. I specifically booked the more expensive “Detailed Beard Trim,” rather than the basic beard fade service, because I wanted professional help shaping my fuller beard. Your website describes your beard services as involving “shaping and grooming your beard with precision” and providing a “tailored service” resulting in a “polished, well-groomed appearance.” That was exactly what I was looking for.
I discussed this with my stylist during the appointment and explained that I was new to having a beard and wanted help having it properly shaped, so she was aware that this was one of the primary reasons I had made the appointment. Despite that, essentially no shaping was done to my beard. As far as I could tell, the only meaningful beard work performed was snipping a handful of flyaway hairs.
What ultimately turned a disappointing appointment into one that made me decide not to return was what happened at checkout. My stylist and the employee at the register discussed between themselves, in front of me, what they should charge me for the beard work. From their conversation, it was clear that they recognized that not enough had been done to charge me for the beard service I had actually scheduled. They ultimately decided to enter a $15 “neck cleanup” instead. Neither employee explained this decision to me, told me why the beard service I had scheduled had not been performed, or asked whether I was okay with being charged for a different service. They discussed it between themselves, entered it into the system, and then had me continue with the transaction.
My neck was cleaned up somewhat during the haircut, but that was already part of the haircut service I was paying for. Based on the conversation I heard at the register, the additional “neck cleanup” charge was being used to account for the very small amount of work that had been done to my beard. In practical terms, I therefore paid an additional $15 for a handful of flyaway beard hairs to be trimmed. That is only $2 less than the listed price of the basic beard fade service. Trimming a few flyaways is something that I, as someone with no professional barber training, can easily do myself and have done myself many times as my beard has grown.
I didn't object at the register because I wasn't interested in creating a confrontation over $15. I paid the bill and left. I did, however, decide while I was standing at the register that I would not be returning.
I want to emphasize that I am not seeking a refund, nor am I submitting this because I want my stylist to get in trouble. She was pleasant throughout the appointment, and this really isn't about $15. It is about the principle of the experience and the lack of communication. I specifically sought out a professional and booked the more expensive detailed beard service because I wanted my beard shaped. I clearly communicated that. The shaping was not performed, nobody explained why it wasn't performed, and I was then charged for a different service to account for the minimal beard work that was done without anyone explaining that charge to me or asking whether I agreed to it.
The haircut itself was fine. However, I don't think it was meaningfully better than haircuts I have received elsewhere for much cheaper. The beard service was the primary reason I went to a more expensive barbershop in the first place, and unfortunately that was the part of the appointment I essentially did not receive. The way the additional charge was handled at checkout then left me feeling that I had not received good value and, more importantly, that the transaction had not been handled transparently.
I hope this feedback is useful. I probably would have viewed the experience very differently if someone had simply explained why the detailed beard trim I scheduled wasn't going to be performed and then not charged me for beard work that wasn't done. Instead, I left feeling that I had paid a premium specifically to get professional help with my beard, didn't receive that help, and was nevertheless charged an additional $15 because a few flyaway hairs had been snipped. That is why I won't be returning.

Very good haircut!

Although some of the people you've got working there appear to be very good at their jobs, the only person I'd let touch my hair is the stylist I've been following around to various locations for years. I can't say there's any other reason I'd go there.

Jennifer is the best at her craft. She listens and understands the many ways to make a haircut look great.

The Barber listened to what you want.

The front desk recommended someone that clearly wasn't as good as she mentioned. And the barber did a terrible job (props to Adam from the Allen location for saving the day!) I usually go to the Allen location, but decided to try a different one because I didn't have enough time to go to Allen. Biggest mistake. Will keep going back to Allen. Areli and Adam are incredible!!!

Ash is amazing and the only one who has truly helped me understand my hair and which options would fit what I'm wanting. She takes her time to ensure it's what I want, and steers me from what objectively wouldn't work with my hair type.
