My daughter enjoys swimming lessons this year and has had a great experience with her instructor. Right now there are only lessons on Wednesday's and Saturday's, adding another day during the week would be great.
My son's swimming lesson instructor Caroline is absolutely wonderful, she is patient and kind and speaks to the children in a way they really listen and enjoy
it is CHAOS trying to sign in kids at the same time other families are signing them out! Super small detail, but a bit of a pain point.
The swimming pool is cold. During infant lessons they are often shivering and cold. During older lessons I have noted my child is less likely to go in the water because it's cold and they don't enjoy it. I love the ramp going in makes it easily accessible. Also wish it was hotter in the change room because the kids often become upset because they are cold changing.
The instructors are great, nice small classes. Good times that overlap with childminding/ kids drop off so we can combine it with our workout as parents.
I love that they are thought out and staff work hard to pull it off.
Instructor is very friendly and great with kids. Very laid back and relaxed environment
I love it!
Variety and good instructors
The opportunity for my children to participate in SwimAble. It's been a great way for them to build confidence and skills.
The facility first of all. The pool staff are exceptional. Glad to see adult swim lessons. How ever you need to advertise that as I only heard about it from a member of the public
I recently enrolled in the beginner adult swimming classes, and I'm absolutely loving it! The instructors are super patient and encouraging, and the atmosphere is friendly and supportive. I already feel more confident in the water and look forward to every class. Highly recommend their aquatic programs!
They're inclusive & staff are friendly.
The space is lovely; great family change rooms and a really fun instructor. Small class size, lots of extra eyes/life guards. Great equipment for teaching.
The instructor has been incredible, making our kids feel comfortable in the water while playing and learning to swim. We have had an incredible experience
Kids programs so I can go to the gym. And Barry the swimming instructor is incredible. Pay him more
I enjoy the time we can spend together. For me it is just finding time, and a program. I am sort of shy, and self-conscious, but I know I need to find that drive in me to get out and get healthy! I love when I can take a friend, and show them the place, and talk to them about joining. I feel we have a strong need for keeping our young active and out of trouble! It has been good for us!
Expand the offerings. Kids go to their other parents on Saturdays. There's almost no chance to get into a class on a Wednesday. I'm not putting my 7 year old in a730pm class. That's ridiculous.
When my son was trying to take the lifeguarding courses, we would go to the pool so that he could practice and gain the endurance needed for the lap times. There were many weeks we came where he couldn't get in and lane sharing was not enforced. Or in a two hour scheduled lane swim, the lane 'might' have opened up in the last 15-20 minutes. When we drive into town specifically to swim... this becomes a wasted trip and we eventually gave up. Although my son wanted to take his full lifeguarding... without the practice time he didn't have the confidence to go any further. I also enjoy lap swimming... but there needs to be proper swim etiquette to make that enjoyable. On the other hand, when my daughter was able to get into swim lessons, she really enjoyed them and it built up a lot of confidence. We missed the deadline for winter and the class was already full, but we may try again in future. Or if private lessons are offered, we would be happy to utilize those.
The cost of swimming lessons is prohibitively expensive for many local rural families, and why we won't be signing up for as much swimming lessons as we want to. I.e. We can't afford taking swimming lessons more than one time a year, which is unfortunate because we would sign up more if we could.
The quality of instructors and small class sizes.
SWO YMCA has created a negative, hostile environment where myself and children have been singled out, defamed, ostracized, and all around bullied so one manager can hold a false sense of power and gratification from harming a single mom and her children. The lies and libel that has come from your manager Jordan about ME, has now caused my 4 year old to be villainized, ostracized and bullied. We have not been treated fairly. Had the initial issue been addressed further harm would not have insued. Treat me however you want, I'm an adult and I can't handle it. A 4 year old, can not.
Kids swimming lesson nights are a nightmare need more room for showering, dressing kids ie… bigger more efficient family change rooms or utilize the other change rooms at those times
Wonderful instructors and lifeguard staff. Classes were very enjoyable. I'm so happy with my new swimming skills and look forward to spending more time at the Y pool.
available. Lifeguards take their jobs seriously and keep watch over all patrons. They don't worry about socializing or scenery. They teach skills and strokes and guide students to their full potential. They don't waste time and keep on schedule to get kids progressing at a good pace
