I would recommend checking out the Y because it is very affordable and offers a wide variety of activities and exercises. The staff is friendly and the swimming pool is warm and clean.
I thought the pickleball court in the basement was poorly lighted and honestly subpar.
I like the community feel and the staff are wonderful. Also like the workout programs that are offered.
Very professional Aquatics director. Lo has brought a lot of good rigor to the program.
The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy going to the senior exercise class that Pam teaches because I get a great workout and she makes the classes fun.
Let disabled seniors like myself be able to join the pool class on Tues & Thurs, the way it use to be. I'm in Pam's MWF exercise class at 11am! Its too EXHAUSTING and RUSHED for me to do both classes same day. I have MS which is easier for me and more beneficial for me to exercise in the pool!!!
My daughter took four weeks of swim class and she didn’t learn anything. In 7 sessions of class that she attended there were total of 4 teachers. Which runined they rhythm of the class. There were hardly any days where instructor asked them to do a break stroke or a different kind of strokes.
Had my first Pilates class with Bonnie, and I walked in sharing I might not be able to do all the exercises she taught. She reviewed what I brought and then offered modifications throughout the class and promised more next time! She was so gracious and helpful. So looking forward to the next class or any class she teaches!
The youngest kids practices should be focused on fixing and teaching the correct technique instead of making them swimming laps with fins on for most of the entire practice.
They should be able to teach every stroke not mostly freestyle. They should use drills to improve each swimming style.
I have seen the practices focused only on endurance with fins on mostly all the times, and they only swim freestyle.
What about the technique?
The young team needs to focus on technique using drills, not just swim freestyle nonstop so the coaches could enjoy a nice chat with each other.
I wish they could improve on the 7-8 swim group.
Love all the different exercise and yoga classes.
Clean, friendly and well maintained
There's something for everyone. It is a positive force in our community.
It’s a wonderful facility filled with like-minded friends
This was an incredible experience. Thank you for taking care of my daughter Kendall
There are no wipes in the room where classes are held. Also, something needs to be done about members not signing up which isn't fair to those who have.
good choice of classes and coaches are good.
The acoustics in the wellness center are such that the room is very loud. Surely there must be sound-deadening treatments that could be employed.
I don’t think the main gym floor should be used for scheduled classes. It takes over space from members who are there to work out on their own.
If you’re looking for a
Friendly staff, nice gym that has everything you need!
Mark is a wonderful instructor and his functional fitness class is perfect for seniors.
He is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and has a great sense of humor.
I have had a number of teachers in the years I have taken classes at the Y and I would have to say Mark is the best and his class is the most beneficial.
Significantly overcrowded at peak times, and staff not trained or empowered to manage the flow of people.
Staff are very friendly
The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. The facility is bright and very clean. It vibes like a community center. There's a donation spot for the community in the front vestibule of the Y that I want to start contributing to. My elderly mom and I just took our first class, Chair Yoga, and really enjoyed it. There were a number of people in the class from my mother's church, which really upped the experience for my mom. I really enjoyed the stretching and breathing exercises. We'll continue to attend Chair Yoga and try out a few other classes too.
Mom and I also attend a monthly gathering for seniors with dementia issues. It is a truly wonderful program that Mom and I really enjoy bc it's fun with all the different activities and presentations. The volunteers are very kind and work very hard to make it special time for us. I'd say The Greater Somerset Hills Y is awesome!
A great, clean, modern facility with something everyone! Staff are always friendly and welcoming
