The YMCA is a very friendly place and the facilities are top notch.

Great easy experience. I wish there was a "punch card" option. I'm using the gym for physio and getting a two week membership is too expensive to only use once a week.

I like to swim laps , lately you have been accommodating more aquafit and out side groups. The weekend was a time could go pretty much any time , and you have added a aquafit class like 5 days a week isn’t enough Also cleaning in the shower & change rooms has really slacked off !

I always enjoy my time at the JMFC Y in Sarnia- great facility, lot's of natural light, the improved flooring in the gymnasium is a bonus as well too!

I use only the pool and it was close for a few weeks.

I had an amazing experience with one of the personal trainers -- Kortnie. She was able to work with my injuries and I still felt like I had a good workout, building strength and toning.

I understand that sometimes you have to block a section for service or maintenance, the maintenance program needs to be review and implemented to void long term inconvenience to members.
Ex. Swimming pool…,,,,,

NO POOL for weeks! Pool edges, facing the water need that greasy dirt cleaned off. Lysol wipes would probably rub that ick off. Especially in the smaller pool. MOLDY, thick soap residues on shower floors. A solution of water and bleach would be cheap, disinfect, and inhibit mold growth. Low water level in the hot tub too often! This is not my usual review, but lately I have been very disappointed. I'd rather this be private, not public. Hopefully it is temporary.

The recent pool closure has been disappointing and frustrating. It’s understandable and I’m excited for it to be better after the repairs. Though it’s key time for Triathalon training etc.
additionally, the light has been too dim in the women’s plus change room sauna for weeks. Which should be an easier fix.
These are multiple amenities that are paid for in the plus membership that are not available right now with no opportunity for temporarily reduced fees etc.

Your pool is not open. I was disappointed. The schedule i was given indicated 2 evening yoga classes and l showed up for the 2nd one, only to find it was changed. I am aware of 2 weekend am classes for yoga but id like more. The weight room i haven't even made it to but between the closed pool and the lack of yoga i may think twice about the membership

I am relatively new to Sarnia and I was initially attracted to the Y because of the diversity of the exercise equipment. After enjoying the facilities the last 3 years the Y has developed into a community for me. I work out most mornings and I now know a significant group of people who I have met at the Y. I am now socializing with many of these people while continuing to meet new people when I go for my workout. The y has become a focal point for me to build an important social network.

Group classes are great. Staff is awesome. Best pool in the area.

Maybe spend a few dollars and have the lap pool equipment reviewed by a competent company? Equipment failure is understandable, however regular inspection is also required. Hope this is happening to ensure our fantastic lap pool remains clean and functional. Please keep up the good work!

The building is not being maintained as far as the pool, sauna and hot tubs. When simple things like a light being burnt out is not replaced for weeks at a time someone is falling behind in their job. I would have trouble telling a friend it’s a great place

I have been a member since 1998..I go to the Y mon. wed. & Fri...I'm 75. I pay monthly ( about $1000 ? yr.)In the past year or so. They are closed completely on stats...but they still my money .auto with draw !I think it's wrong to take money for a service I can't use .At one time they would always be open on every holiday accept Christmas. however they would close at 3 PM. on stats ..I'm usually out by 1:00.Not happy ..They take my money ,,and I cant use the Y ..when it's closed!

Varied options…good classes…the pool. However, I think the Y needs a better communication policy. The reason for the pool closure was not well communicated. People are more understanding if they understand what is going on. You needed to get ahead of this issue.

Well! Cleanliness for one thing. The gym floors were all redone last week. But cobwebs still hang from the ceiling. A balloon has been hanging up there forever,etc. Washrooms are dirty. Ants crawling all over the floors. The cupboards to put coats located near the studio are usually covered in dry mud for weeks on end. And on it goes.


The instructors are great. I enjoy the classes. All staff are friendly and professional. But building cleanliness and sanitation is definitely an issue.

Will there be any sort or reimbursement for the pool? I absolutely understand things happen but I have been paying extra for a pool I cannot use.

I like how inclusive and friendly staff are. It adds to our wonderful visits at the ymca. We enjoy the programs they offer, the use of the pools and the gym.

Lap pool availability

Disappointed with all of the problems with the pool lately. One of the main reasons I have chosen the Y as my fitness center is the lap pool. Wondering whether the Y will be issuing a refund for those who are paying extra to use the pool and have not been able to lately.

Lane swim schedule is tough to make at times. Consider maintaining more open lanes during classes

I really appreciate instructors that come prepared for their class. You can certainly tell who puts effort into their classes keeping it fresh so you want to come back each week.

Lap pool has been closed multiple times this spring after power failures. Need better power backup as the pool pump is small HP.

The hours on the weekends and week days for the price we are paying they should be longer. I think it should open at 5am and close at 10 pm 7 days a week the weekend is your opportunity to go to the gym

Aquafit classes are an excellent work out for seniors. The staff are very friendly and the change rooms are very clean.

Maybe not have the pool quite so cold!! I don't expect warm water for aqua fit but.. a polar dip??
