Update some of the weight machines or at least keep the repair up
I attend silver sneakers on Monday and Wednesday, good exercising and great people there. My new favorite thing is chair dancing on Friday with Becky.
I think it is a great facility. It sometimes takes a long time to get the "out of order" equipment fixed, but that is my only complaint. The staff are welcoming and friendly and helpful.
The staff is great! But the overall building needs an update. Pool ceiling is falling apart walls looks like mildew on it. Gym is pretty good and the equipment is super
I go to classes 3 days a week and they really are making a difference -- I'm stronger, and doing that exercise means I sleep through the night which is a big deal at my age. And the other people that attend the classes are great -- friendly and welcoming and helpful -- I will continue coming, hopefully for years!
Everyone at the Maple Street Y is very friendly & helpful. Vivian has helped me start my fitness journey, at times she has more confidence in me than I do. I will continue to try new programs.
This location is the simply the best , along with the downtown location too .
There is something for every level of fitness. I love the morning senior classes. Good time to workout a bit and for social interactions. I also supplement morning classes for weight machines, especially for my legs as they have been losing strength as I age. They do provide all equipment needed for the senior classes.
I do wish they could hire another yoga person to teach an additional class during the week besides Thursday mornings with Molly.
I enjoy the group exercise classes at the Maple Street YMCA. The instructors are great and the rest of the staff are courteous and friendly.
It seems comfortable and open. I like my choice. The facility seems to be recommendable.
great sense of community; love the way the weight room is set up!
It is high time that the group exercise room on the second floor, studio B, got a deep clean. The floor is filthy and the shelves that the weights are racked on is full of months of dust. Additionally, more dumbells would be welcomed in that room. Sometimes we run out of the heavier ones that are available (10 lb, 12.5lb etc.)
Program is wonderful for providing kids ability to play and socialize. Registration is also easy. This last season notifications and info came with pretty short notice so having information ready a couple weeks in advance could help parents better prepare (like equipment needed, schedules). The parking tends to be difficult as well often ending up having to find spots in the overflow lot on the other side of the Y or within the adjoining neighborhood.
My kids didnt have a good experience. One of the kids did the middle finger to my son and heard kids saying bad words. My daughter also one day she brought lunch from home and she was not given the camp lunch which we paid for and she should receive even if she has lunch from home. She forgot her water bottle for 1 day, the next day we couldn’t find it. One of the kids put chewed gum in my son’s backpack. Overall, very bad experience and i told all my friends never put their kids there.
Great facility and classes. Spotless environment. Welcoming staff.
organization
Lack of efficient support during games at the Y. Poor refs and umpires. Sometimes our child’s teams have been too small and consistently required extra players from opposing teams which ruins the game. Signing up for 5/6th grade girls soccer at MAPLE STREET YMCA but consistently playing games in Gretna or signing up for MAPLE STREET YMCA basketball 5/6th grade girls and playing in IOWA. The Y has some much to offer families, but if you aren’t going to disclose that games will be played ACROSS town and neighboring states, don’t expect families to continue playing o support the YMCA youth sports.
While the actual team is great, the communication from leadership and management is lacking. I spent more time talking to other parents on the player app trying to figure out what was going on because the responses were quicker and more uniform. I have yet to get a response from leadership about several miscommunications regarding coaches and expectations for practice
This year has not been as good as years past. There doesn't seem to be as many activities or games the kids are doing and they are watching movies multiple times as week. My daughter seems to be bored and says they do a lot of coloring pages. I wish there were more planned activities they were doing to keep them active
My grandson has only attended one week, but the activities did not really correspond to the advertised theme of the week. Please try to correlate activities to the theme. Not everyone attends all weeks and some weeks are chosen specifically because of their theme. Very grateful that the swimming pool worked the week my grandson attended. We appreciate the Y camp. All staff have been very nice and considerate. Thank you!
Committed instructors!!
One of the Best YMCA. Keep it up thank you.
I find that Maple Street Y is frequently out of supplies
Fantastic childcare
You are treated like family. And that’s a good thing.
In the ladies locker room, there is low water pressure to take a shower. One shower area lacks a showerhead to it to use it. It’s very slippery when it’s time to get dressed next to a locker. We need some kind of mats and more towels available for us for me to stand on, so I don’t slip and fall.
Warm pool. God weight lifting equipment. Friendly people (employees) , good locker room and showers, and good open hours.
Hospitality at front desk. Ease of access & parking. Great group classes. Never struggle to get access to equipment.
The "Fit On" program needs to be Activated.
Very good trainers and front desk staff
Dedicated staff, committed to my success
Needs updating
Ms. Howard runs a great program for the kids at Maple St YMCA. They’re on a predictable schedule, the kids are fed well, they spend a lot of time outside, and are cared for kindly and supportively. My daughter is autistic and ADHD and all the counselors have really supported her drive to be independent and unique, while making sure she’s included and playing appropriately with her new friends. We are so grateful to the awesome YMCA Camp team for all their hard work and dedicated care for our kids.
I would like to see more security cameras at your location on Maple Street on the outside
The pool is not very available at times I could use it for swim exercise sessions
This is the only one in my community
The staff are friendly and helpful. The facility is clean.
More 1 on 1 with staff for questions
I work in the area several days a month and the Y is my kinda go to place. I can get in an 1 hour work out most days except
Saturdays ( that's not a bad thing , your location does an outstanding job for the kids in the area ) let's hope that carries over to the new location. Another plus the staff is always helpful and the restrooms and equipment are always clean and wiped down
I joined specifically to attend aquacise and have been frustrated to discover classes frequently have no instructor and the current instructors don't provide adequate workouts, in my opinion. The shower / changing rooms are also in need of an update.
Everyone there is so nice and welcoming. It doesn’t feel like going to the gym it feels like visiting family.
Your men’s locker room is a little run down. It could use some freshening up. The benches are warn and squeaky. You also need a swimsuit spinner.
You have great workout classes. Down fall is the workout class rooms are locked which makes it inconvenient to get set up and ready when a class starts. We shouldn’t have to wait for the instructor to come.
Call aerobics is lots of fun if we have an instructor all the time that doesn’t do the same thing over and over and over again, but other than that, they’re very helpful and kindly people
It is very uncomfortably warm there.
Instructors - Mike and Kirstin are both amazing!!! The locker room restrooms are very dated, but otherwise the facility it great.
Everyone is very friendly and accommodating - from the front desk people who always have a smile to greet you - to the Senior Ctr to the ladies in the gym and in the pool and all the instructors! And not to leave out the administration! I love it there! The class's have helped me tremendously with my sciatica and my balance! Keep up the tremendous work everyone there does! Thank you all!!
It awful small, very hot and humid in the workout room, People do not take there weight off a machine when they are done leaving you to have to take there weight off.
The front staff should have adequate information before she can assist you with your concerns. I don’t know her name she has waved silver hair and works in the a.m. This lady is always helpful in the wrong ways 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏼♀️Thank You, Dogs should not be allowed in locker rooms sniffing and smelling on you when you are getting dressed Consideration for those of us that are allergic to animals . Service animals should have guidelines and restrictions just as us members do . Thank You again 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏼♀️👋
I love the aquasize class but the is the teacher we go on wed night she don't speak English so we have to guess what she's doing by watching her. It's very hard with no communication to do the class. With it being a well class I don't see why you would have some ody for a class that cannot communicate with the class. I do not attend that class anymore yes I know there are other class but wed nights are the only nights I can go. Would be nice if you would consider having someone who can communicate and speak English it just floors me why you would have someone like that run a class .
