Dressing rooms and facilities need to be updated

Teacher quality seems lower than at other YMCAs, and teachers do not discuss student progress or next steps with parents. At other YMCAs I felt a higher level of teacher engagement and enthusiasm with students and parents, however this YMCA does not provide that. Also, classes have been cancelled in the past with no notifications to parents, and unclear communications about make-up classes. I'm also surprised at the methods teachers are using to teach diving to students, with teachers placing students new to diving right on the diving block. This is before students even learn how to dive by sitting/ standing on the edge of the pool. It's been ineffective at teaching my daughter how to dive, and not the way I've seen it taught more effectively at other YMCAs. Overall, I appreciate how close this YMCA is to my home, and the variety of class days/ times, however I may look elsewhere for higher quality instruction.

Lack of communication and consistency in the instructors and times. I know there is a change in management but it's been challenging for our family

Coach leaving midway, no proper communication regarding swim meets, volunteering etc. Poor old facilities.

My instructor is patient and very attentive. She points out what i’m doing wrong and helps me correct it. She always tells me the progress i have made in the class which is very encouraging and reassuring.

You have a good service

Started swimming lessons for the first time for our 4 year old son. There was no specific instructor the for first 2 weeks and we had to wait beyond the start time. Our son loves swimming but doesn't like swimming lessons so far which is hard!

We wanted to learn swimming but the instructors assigned were new and kids with no experience of teaching. Entire waste of money.

The classes never start on time and keep getting cancelled.

We started attending in April and I made my feelings known to whoever was in charge of the time and it seems like things have only gotten worse. I understand as a transition going on right now, but it’s very unorganized. I’ve never known any of my kids swimming instructors names except for one, there’s no lane signs that tell you which class goes where. I feel my son has regressed here. The Mt Laurel Y that we came from was top notch. the instructors don’t correct The kids and I feel the instructors need more instruction themselves in all honesty. Last week was our last class there and I saw another parent that was upset about how bad he felt the instruction was for his son, I will not be going back to Princeton for swim lessons as of right now we will be going to Hillsborough. I am 100% sure that there have been other complaints. The sad thing is because of management. We know that this isn’t going to change so.

The basket ball session for kids is going great. Swimming session is a challenge as every time new trainer is there and not much progress. also, scheduling was a challenge due to multiple reasons and wrong contact information from YMCA Princeton.

I like the relaxed atmosphere at Princeton but at the same time all the trainers are super kind to our daughter. They also help her promote from to a higher level during last training cycle which boosted her morale a lot. She is trying to be regular these days. The timings of the program are also good and the member charges are also good.

The pool and the staff. They are very nice...

I am very pleased with the lessons my daughter has been receiving. Her instructor is patient, gentle and explains steps in ways my daughter can relate to. I would definitely recommend this program to any parent who is interested in joining.

Pool has limited lanes and at times becomes very crowded.

The pool packs general cleanliness. It's awful in the change rooms. You could find rats poop there too.

We had a good experience with the instruction. But the communication is terrible. I emailed and left voicemails multiple times with no replies. (An exception is Cindy, who was good about responding to emails). I found the only way to get a response was to call the front desk, but there are limits to what they can do. Even when things were scheduled, the organization seemed shaky. Well-meaning and friendly, but it seems like not fully on top of scheduling and staffing.
