I really enjoyed the Aqua Blast class on Saturday for the last two weeks. The two different instructor's routines allowed for a great workout, but the pace was our own. It's a bit of a drive for me to come to the Y but my friends and I share the driving so we can make it work. I had taken two aqua classes previously and did not enjoy them because the instructor was too much like a drill sergeant in her manner. Insisting we do a certain exercise her way which was painful. Instructors need to realize (1) we are not 20 year olds, and (2) we know our own bodies and limitations. Allow us to participate at the level and ability that we can and stop with the bullying tactics. As winter progresses with colder weather, and seeking indoor pools offering aqua classes, I hope to be able to continue coming other days than just Saturday.
All new equipment is great! Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.Tks!
Lot’s of options. Clean. Convenient.
The YMCA has has a big variety of workout equipment, everything you would need to get in shape.
Just recently disappointed due to new equipment just installed at Rollingwood. Training should have been scheduled ahead, and I’m told it will be “group” training. My husband mostly only used the old equipment. How long is our wait??
Offer more classes and the sign up system makes it hard to get in classes. Truly considering going elsewhere after 40 years of membership.
Location, cost, facilities. TENNIS! And the people.
They offer everything to keep our
INSTALL/BRING BACK TWO RACQUETBALL COURTS!
Facility needs some serious updating, and the pool was closed for long periods of time this last summer
The staff, instructor, classes, tennis program, swim program, and pickleball are all amazing. And the new equipment will be a great update. But the building needs work and the facility is not always clean. The locker rooms are dated, and the area outside (currently turf) is an eye sore. It need aesthetic improvement. Additionally, a half court or full court area for basketball would be nice, along with a better area for purchasing food and dining.
The instructors and members are really nice and friendly. It’s fun to go each time.
I’ve already had my brother sign up, and I talked to a friend and told her about it as well
for working adults, I think I would want more classes in the evening ; more space and instructors for heavily impacted day classes
This place is considerably rundown and seems to have some funky fixes. One of the womens toilet stall door has a door stop made from one half of a regular door hinge. Really??? Looks tacky and makes one wonder how many OTHER half *** "fixes" have been done on the facility. The interior rooms and hallways need serious fixing, renovation, and upgrading.
Good variety of classes, unfortunately most of them are run with music that is so loud that the instructor cannot be heard or understood. I have to wear noise cancellation ear buds as I am concerned about hearing damage.
I have already recommended it! I really like the pools and water aerobics classes. I appreciate how friendly, caring and helpful the staff is.
Limited class times and options that work for me.
friendly, busy, home-y feel
It’s a place to get healthy, meet new friends, and to be your best self.
T
Very professional and well organized, and a fun and enjoyable place to work out.
I find we need more balance, stretch, gentle yoga, chair yoga classes. It is hard to get into these .. facility is clean, people welcoming, instructors greatBUT older people want morning classes and more classes!! Mary
Not enough group ex classes for working adults.
Please pay the trainers more. All the good ones do personal training only. They dont teach classes.
Before it became YMCA, it was much much better.
Can you have app populated reserved classes to calendars?
It is a great place all the way around! Pools inside & out, lots of equipment, classes, trainers & lots of nice people.
Staff is so pleasant and trainers and instructors are so accommodating to individual needs.
I like the location and the people
I love the people who I play pickleball with. The Y is easy to get to and has a relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent swimming program with Steve.
The membership money doesn’t seem to go into any noticeable improvements for the Rollingwood location.
The gym is a bit run down and the equipment is out of order and not many machines. It is expensive to be a member and not have a nice gym to work out at. Love the pickleball courts!
It just takes a long time to drive there.
my friends are seniors and there is a scramble to get into what few classes are offered
The men's Locker Room is small and cold be improved.. more than 1 toilet and 1 urinal.. Showers could be upgraded.. Tai Chi class in late AM or earlier afternoon.
More equipment
Great facilities and staff.
Friendly staff, nice surroundings (lots of trees!). Also, the pool was warm and there were pool toys for my grand daughter to play with. Thank you!
Pools are constantly being closed, classes are canceled, the locker rooms are not kept clean/stocked with necessary items like decent paper towels, tp and soap in showers. Very disappointed lately.
The Rollingwood YMCA
Facility needs upgrades, facelift, and repairs (dry rot as you walk in, unfinished deck etc). More classes (maybe in late afternoon). Pickleball courts need repair again. But I love the community and that it’s the YMCA.
Really, I don't feel like you pay attention to the comfort of your members and teachers. The indoor pool area is hot and humid all the time, the women's locker room was too cold, now it's too hot, which encourages humidity and, possibly, mold.
Been a long time member even before it became the YMCA.... Has special classes for seniors..
I like that there are so many options for exercising! Also that I get my membership through my Kaiser plan!
Friendly staff, clean facilities, nice atmosphere.
Everyone that I come in contact with including the employees and the members are extremely kind. Great place to go.
The water aerobic classes are so full it’s an unpleasant experience. I’m unable to get into any chair classes. The instructors are wonderful and great people!
I like that there is so many different classes to try at times I can go. I'm a night owl, so some that sound good, I will not get to try.
Such great staff! Love classes with JoiLynn, Paula and Brian. I am doing so much better because of all of you!
Pools are great. please start a line dancing class
1. Not enough chair yoga, balance classes. I hate that I have to set an alert one week to the hour in ADVANCE to reserve a class. If I am an hour late, there are no open spots. Some classes don’t allow a waitlist.
2. The indoor pool smells. The tiles are filthy. I enjoyed the water class , but hated the smell in the pool area and above the water line. and couldn’t wait to shower with fresh smelling body wash afterwards.
