There needs to be teen friendly programs. Sports and activities generally age out at 12 with a few exceptions. I’d love to see homeschool programs and youth activities like art, dance, etc. go to age 17.
I personally use the Y only for the pool. And it's very upsetting that I m not able to use it ,because I work that it's always use for the school ,classes to leave only one lane available for the members it's unfair. Because we paid a membership.
Gym is a very nice place. But the rowing equipment seems to be in a bad place. Difficult for the next class to get in, until the machines are removed
Would really love to have a dry sauna in the women’s locker room. That would make it a 10/10 for me. I love the childcare and how the facility doesn’t feel over crowded like other YMCA’s in the area. I just think the dry sauna would be the perfect selling point for me.
Extremely knowledgeable nice helpful employees. Everyone is eager to help I’ve never experienced a sullen dismissive person.
See below!
It's a great place for exercise while a lso meeting others which aids in increasing motivation. Variety of activities offered
Swimming lab
A very busy place so more leg machines would be nice. Plus it would be nice if the staff would implement the dress code for the ladies (shirts required-no sports bras) This issue is the basic reason I would not recommend this Y to my children/friends.
I wanted to leave some feedback because there are a few things that could really improve the gym experience at this YMCA. At the Countryside YMCA we previously used, clean towels were available for members and cleaning solution was conveniently located at each machine. Here, there are only paper towels and a few shared spray bottles scattered around. This makes the whole process unnecessarily slow because members have to leave the machine, walk over to find a spray bottle, clean the equipment, and return the bottle before the next person can use it. Having cleaning solution readily available at each machine would make things flow much more efficiently.
Another major frustration is equipment availability. There is often only one of a particular machine, yet people will sit on the equipment for extended periods texting or scrolling on their phones between sets. I completely understand resting between sets, but when equipment is limited, it would be helpful if staff encouraged members to be mindful of others waiting or allow others to work in.
Overall, the gym has what I need, but the experience could be significantly better with towels, more conveniently placed cleaning supplies, and better etiquette around limited equipment. I come to the gym to get an efficient workout in, and right now there is a lot of unnecessary waiting that makes that difficult.
Good variety of classes, but I wish there were more body pump classes or in a bigger room The 9:25 class is always full—
Kids are always holding up machines, horse playing & using profanity
Great variety of classes to choose from.
I enjoy the staff and being able to work out and the other people who come in to work out are always nice.
I used to play a lot of pickle ball l, but I was finding myself getting upset at myself for losing.
I will start again soon.
The atmosphere here is welcoming and friendly. Classes are led by competent instructors, class times are honored, and lots of friendship are generated in these group exercise opportunities.
Excellent facility with very knowledgeable staff always willing to help. Equipment is modern and well maintained. Locker room is clean and plenty of room. The aquatic center is great use and for all ages. There are plenty of classes to choose from which alone make it worth the money.
The variety of exercise classes and weight lifting and cardio equipment give me what I need to help me improve my physical fitness. The staff is friendly and show a willingness to help patrons.
Great location for me. Friendly staff and offers classes I like.
Clean. A/C is great! Instructors are superb.
It's a family oriented gym
I've made new friends while improving my health.
Would like to have a bigger room for our 8 am class. It can only hold 15, but more people would like to participate in the forever well class at Schertz. How can I invite people when there isn't any room. Also we requested more light bands and haven't seen any new ones yet.
The yoga classes and the instructors teaching them.
Yes i would recommend; however since the classes often fill up so quickly its hard to want more people to join which makes it even harder to get classes.
Have you considered expanding the #2 studio out as that hallway aeems like a waste of space and just a storage for step platforms. That would allow more people into that room for the classes
Better checks and maintenance on the weight and exercise machines. It seems that it takes comments from members to get something fixed. Instead, the Y staff should test the equipment regularly checking for worn pads, sticky rollers, etc.
Also, move the valuables storage locker to across from the staff desk. This would prevent vandalism where someone puts in false combinations locking all the doors.
