The Welcome Desk staff is welcoming and helpful. Chris Lopez and Jennifer Huff have been knowledgeable and helpful with my personal training. I’m glad to be a Y member!
Y offers lots of great classes, throughout the day.
More group exercise classes of the dancing variety.
The friendliness staff, the cleanliness of the facilities and the variety of classes for seniors.
I like the size of the most of the classes. Some of them need larger rooms. The instructors are very encouraging and patient. The classes are modified to meet all clients needs.
Instructors are highly qualified. Facilities are consistently clean.
Member since the Y opened. The ridiculous weight dropping is barely mitigated by the padded panels. NO weight dropping at most gyms has been a rule forever. And not just in the meathead deadlift clean and jerk area. Your dumbell rubberized material is shredding off because people abuse and drop these weights. In addition this is a family facility…..one meathead dropping weights repeatedly disturbs EVERYONE ELSE’s EXPERIENCE. Even classes like yoga are jolted and disturbed by dropping weights all the way on the other side the gym. Time to push those weight lifting techniques to another separate facility. It ruins the experience.
Need more leg extension machines, always a wait and often broken.
I love the family and community atmosphere!
My issue is with the app. The update for the app is very hard to browse and schedule classes. Is there any way to change it?
I only use the lap pool and it's the only one around. My only negative feedback is that your website and app frequently have errors in the schedule. It gets frustrating trying to arrange lap time only to show up and find out the schedule was wrong.
Often Cannot get clear answers to telephone questions about the pool -ie Is it open? etc. Also, swim meet days should be published a week in advance so we can plan our schedules accordingly. Front office staff is friendly, but don't seem to have up to date info about the operations. Also, why are the two night swim classes being treated so poorly? We now meet at 715 instead of 630.This is very poor planning. Most people come to the gym or pool right from work, Now they have to decide if it worth going home for an hour and then going to a night class. Also, there is a HUGE SAFETy factor on T/Th nights. The instructor allows overzealous water play, splashing of the instructor, etc THE Instructor seems more interested in entertaining herself and a few front row class participants than in CONDUCTING a useful class. The class is sarcastically referred to by many as the kindergarten splash class. SO sad>>>>>>>VERY dangerous and unprofessional. YES, many of the participants have reported this behavior, but get no solid answers as to how this dangerous situation will be addressed.
The pool is great!
Nice size. Lots of activities
The front counter staff members are engaging and welcoming and set the perfect tone for an enjoyable workout. Additionally, they never fail to have the center open on time, or more frequently, a few minutes early, for the anxious crowd waiting to start their workout. The equipment is clean and well maintained. The front counter workers also acknowledge everyone on their way out, which is also a nice touch. Keep up the outstanding work. It is very much appreciated!
I have been coming here for over ten years, and the Zumba classes have been the source of many friendships. All the instructors are awesome! I just wish Zumba Gold classes were not discontinued!
The atmosphere and staff are there to help. I feel like I belong to a part of the community!
I love having access to the pool.
Since there are no pools available year round.
Swimming pools and large variety of weight and aerobic exercise machines. Good bargain for the single membership price.
Bad Director at the youth sports. Uneven teams and unprofessional
It is very hard to get into the classes that I was interested in or if I got in, people that were not signed up, just showed up and the class was overcrowded.
I think the Schertz Y should have a vending machine like the other YMCA locations.
They have great options at great prices
The staff and instructors are amazing
Staff are true professionals who greet you warmly and are on top of the answers to my questions as they occur.
I just wish the baby room wouldn't start cleaning an hour before they close. It is a 4 hour window (+the evening time I dont personally use) but feels like less when they move babies out into the cart to clean. Can that not wait until the room is actually* closed?
Im okay with the cart when it's because of the amount of kids though. Better than having to turn anyone away.
The staff is always very friendly though! So normally I just look past the aforementioned.
It’s like family warm and inviting. In January I came in kicking and screaming because I did not want to go at all. My daughter encouraged me to go. I just love the water exercises I come Monday ,Tuesday ,Wednesday ,and Thursday.and really appreciate being there and able to attend🙃
Accessibility, availability, and affordability
There needs to be teen friendly programs. Sports and activities generally age out at 12 with a few exceptions. I’d love to see homeschool programs and youth activities like art, dance, etc. go to age 17.
I personally use the Y only for the pool. And it's very upsetting that I m not able to use it ,because I work that it's always use for the school ,classes to leave only one lane available for the members it's unfair. Because we paid a membership.
Gym is a very nice place. But the rowing equipment seems to be in a bad place. Difficult for the next class to get in, until the machines are removed
Would really love to have a dry sauna in the women’s locker room. That would make it a 10/10 for me. I love the childcare and how the facility doesn’t feel over crowded like other YMCA’s in the area. I just think the dry sauna would be the perfect selling point for me.
Extremely knowledgeable nice helpful employees. Everyone is eager to help I’ve never experienced a sullen dismissive person.
See below!
It's a great place for exercise while a lso meeting others which aids in increasing motivation. Variety of activities offered
Swimming lab
A very busy place so more leg machines would be nice. Plus it would be nice if the staff would implement the dress code for the ladies (shirts required-no sports bras) This issue is the basic reason I would not recommend this Y to my children/friends.
I wanted to leave some feedback because there are a few things that could really improve the gym experience at this YMCA. At the Countryside YMCA we previously used, clean towels were available for members and cleaning solution was conveniently located at each machine. Here, there are only paper towels and a few shared spray bottles scattered around. This makes the whole process unnecessarily slow because members have to leave the machine, walk over to find a spray bottle, clean the equipment, and return the bottle before the next person can use it. Having cleaning solution readily available at each machine would make things flow much more efficiently.
Another major frustration is equipment availability. There is often only one of a particular machine, yet people will sit on the equipment for extended periods texting or scrolling on their phones between sets. I completely understand resting between sets, but when equipment is limited, it would be helpful if staff encouraged members to be mindful of others waiting or allow others to work in.
Overall, the gym has what I need, but the experience could be significantly better with towels, more conveniently placed cleaning supplies, and better etiquette around limited equipment. I come to the gym to get an efficient workout in, and right now there is a lot of unnecessary waiting that makes that difficult.
Good variety of classes, but I wish there were more body pump classes or in a bigger room The 9:25 class is always full—
Kids are always holding up machines, horse playing & using profanity
Great variety of classes to choose from.
I enjoy the staff and being able to work out and the other people who come in to work out are always nice.
I used to play a lot of pickle ball l, but I was finding myself getting upset at myself for losing.
I will start again soon.
The atmosphere here is welcoming and friendly. Classes are led by competent instructors, class times are honored, and lots of friendship are generated in these group exercise opportunities.
Excellent facility with very knowledgeable staff always willing to help. Equipment is modern and well maintained. Locker room is clean and plenty of room. The aquatic center is great use and for all ages. There are plenty of classes to choose from which alone make it worth the money.
The variety of exercise classes and weight lifting and cardio equipment give me what I need to help me improve my physical fitness. The staff is friendly and show a willingness to help patrons.
Great location for me. Friendly staff and offers classes I like.
Clean. A/C is great! Instructors are superb.
It's a family oriented gym
I've made new friends while improving my health.
Would like to have a bigger room for our 8 am class. It can only hold 15, but more people would like to participate in the forever well class at Schertz. How can I invite people when there isn't any room. Also we requested more light bands and haven't seen any new ones yet.
The yoga classes and the instructors teaching them.
Yes i would recommend; however since the classes often fill up so quickly its hard to want more people to join which makes it even harder to get classes.
Have you considered expanding the #2 studio out as that hallway aeems like a waste of space and just a storage for step platforms. That would allow more people into that room for the classes
