I love the classes, instructors, the child watch program and the comfort of the facility.
Membership fee has really risen. More affordable gyms in the area.
I lost a water bottle and exercise mat, neither one returned to lost and found. Lost an earring but it was located in the lost and found.
While we utilize the Y at Thousand Oaks for many things, pickleball is the highlight. The staff has created a fun environment with exciting events and busy competitive open play. There is no facility like it in the city. The staff do a great job from posting events to fun music to supplying cold water. We enjoy the paid clinics and free leagues. Keep up the great work!
Great facility and staff is welcoming. The cleanliness of the building and locker room is superb. Joel is standout staff member who is very welcoming and always working hard.
I’ve been a long time member of this YMCA and overall it’s a great facility. However, The Group FX room has needed new hand weights for awhile now (some
of the jelly weights have the protective cover completely peeled off) and the flow of the room would be so much better if all the weights were moved away from the front door. It becomes a very congested mess when we are trying to get set up for class and break down after, while people are coming in and out through the front door.
The Thousand Oaks Y has so much to offer. Great assortment of workout equipment, lots of pickleball courts and swimming pool.
Gym is pretty warm and humid in the afternoons and evening. Would be nice if it was cooler.
The price is right, but I would pay more to have the mind and body studio cleaned daily.
The employees are always very friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever I have a question about equipment or programs, they are ready to answer, or find somebody with the information I need.
Melissa, Phillip, and Ernesto are The best at the Thousand Oaks Y in San Antonio! Always helpful, friendly, and looking for ways to make our Y visit better!!
I've been a member since you opened, and I still come 3 days a week. I've known most of the staff, but not as many any more, but they're always responsive to me.
I would recommend the classes that I attend because of the instructor. I wish the Mind body studio had easier access. I have bad knees and climbing the wooden stairs is problematic. Especially in inclement weather.
Large, friendly location with great staff and plenty of fitness classes to choose from. Great inmstructors, too!
The Y is a great facility with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The YMCA has lot of workout facilities - many more than most of us are interested in. But the price keeps rising for membership - more than I would expect for such a facility. The air-conditioning has been in really bad shape for quite some time, and it seems like the YMCA doesn't have the funds to address it. While the staff is generally very friendly, they don't do a good job of monitoring the workout/weight areas - there is still substantial profanity - even right near the front desk, and the YMCA won't even post their "no profanity" policy on the wall. Also, there's usually mis-racked weights and overly loud people in that area.
Reasonable cost for everything that is offered. Clean and friendly environment.
I like the Christ-centered community and the friendliness. There are some little things that the members do that is inappropriate, but the staff at the YMCA are great!
Pickleball facilities and play.
I love my Y. I think the options of machines and equipment is great. I love the childcare, they know my 6 yr son well and are very kind and accommodating to him. He has autism and ADHD, so the fact that they're kind and understanding towards him means everything to me as a single mom who NEEDS her gym/fitness time for my wellbeing. The hours now work for my schedule, especially since the Kidz Club hours slightly changed to a later time. I don't get home until 5pm weekdays so I am grateful it was made to last later. We have also done swim lessons in the past. Some instructors were better than others with my son, but he had a blast regardless and learned good skills.
The facility has a lot of options for fitness and the monthly fee is reasonable.
Good location. Staff is for the most part, friendly. Good equipment, however, when it breaks, I think it takes too long for it to be repaired.
Everything is kool as far as weight equipment, I would get rid of the carpet in the locker rooms. It’s not too fun changing into gym shoes and getting your socks wet because somebody who just got out of a shower was there before you. That and add some parking lot security and it’ll be perfect.
Recommending the Yoga Restore classes taught by Reisa. I attend every Monday & Wednesday mornings. She’s honestly so good with getting us fully engaged with our intentions & needs for that particular day.
Men continue to go into spa with shoes. Only a small sign which they don’t pay attention to. A sign inside the window would help. They leave mud everywhere.
Our favorite DanceFX instructor was consistently talked down to in front of class members and given such a hard time that she now only teaches one class at the Thousand Oaks Y. Very disappointing - I've moved a majority of my class attendance to the Schertz Y, where she teaches more classes. Unprofessional treatment of a very popular instructor is not wise if you care about membership & attendance.
I recommended the Y for my daughter
I do NOT like the online system of confirmation of a class. Sending a code to my email is too much!!! And most times I can’t enter code. Pls.. it’s just a class!!
Everything is top notch, from class offerings to instructor knowledge. Would like to see more heavier weight in the main Group Exercise room.
The facility offers many positive features, however the ladies locker room (sinks & counters) need serious improvement…
And the barbells & weights in the class exercise room are pathetic!!
Other YMCA facilities have beautiful equipment!
Thank you
Everything is cool.
Everything was clean, well maintained, and everyone we came in contact with were lovely!
My family and I love the Thousand Oaks YMCA! We look forward to using the facilities and taking classes. YMCA 360 app has also been really amazing and fun to use.
I love the atmosphere at Thousand Oaks YMCA! Staff has made the effort to get to know my and my daughter’s names, care about our needs, the venue is always cleaned and well stocked.
Swimming staff was very unhelpful, not knowing how the pool area worked, and swim lessons happening, my kids had to watch the swim lesson kids utilize the pool
Slides, also were told to move out of the way because a private swim lesson was happening outside of the ropes. Which already closes of some of the pool
Usage. As my kids patiently waited until 2 pm to come around for “public use”
Of the slides, and waited in line were then told that they needed a wrist band to get on. The reason for the bands I understand but the process should be explained.
It's never so busy I can't get a full workout. Just the right number of machines. Pool, tennis, pickleball. It has everything!
Very nice facilities and friendly staff. Only complaint is super busy in summer with school kids who often park at machines in conversation or on phone. Would love senior hour/s so can get workout done.
There are plenty of fitness machines in working condition and the facility is always clean.
Keep staff on for third sets in volleyball, and don’t dismiss play because it’s 2-0. These kids need touches on the ball!
Create more teams for more playing time. If court space is a problem keep more staff on hand. 12-14 kids is way too many to learn or find a groove. Instead of 2 teams of 24 kids playing one another it should be three teams of 8. It’s easier to play a man down; it is not easy to play when an entire team must be sitting at all times. This is a major ongoing parent complaint.
A championship or rankings might be fun; a victory medal or the like for 1st.
Winter volleyball would be good. You lose people here every year.
I was a little confused on Tuesday when the slides in the swimming pool closed at 625pm. We had just gotten there with our kids at 610pm because the schedule said it would stay open until 7pm.
Those who know me are aware that I am a member of the Y. I don't recommend unless they ask. What I would like to see, however, is a partnership with a non-partisan voter registration organization that tabled daily until November election.
Submitted form in person to pause membership after pool closed last season. Membership pause was never entered by staff and was not paused. I was charged for all months and no refund option was given for the staffs error because I no longer have the yellow carbon copy from the pause form.
Staff failure all the way around.
Very good facilities and the hours of operation.
I love how family friendly and supportive the staff is. We love coming to the pool and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. The weight room is clean and offers equipment that is always in working condition.
We love all the programming at the YMCA - tennis clinic, swim lessons, Parent’s Night Out to name a few. The Child Watch staff are FANTASTIC! It’s such a support for our family.
Too many people are allowed to sit on a machine staring mindlessly at their phones.
I find it welcoming and friendly and there's a great variety of classes to choose from.
I love the yoga and stretch classes. The classes are offered at convenient times.
It’s been too hot in the buildings for about a month. It makes me wonder about maintaining membership through the San Antonio summer.
Very spacious and clean. Love the pool but wish it had more available hours. Great place to work out!
